  5. Rotoworld:The A's will announce the signing of Frank Thomas to a one-year deal at a news conference tomorrow, The Associated Press reports. Thomas' addition makes a Jay Payton trade more of a possibility. The A's could go with an outfield of Nick Swisher, Mark Kotsay and Milton Bradley, and they'd still have Bobby Kielty around to hit lefties. However, because Thomas and Bradley are so likely to spend time on the DL, the A's will probably stick with what they have now.
  6. Best of luck Frank, you are the reason I became a White Sox fan, I will miss you greatly
  7. Rotoworld:The Cardinals are expected to announce the signing of Ricardo Rincon within the next couple of days. It'll probably be a two-year deal. Rincon had a 4.34 ERA in 37 1/3 innings for the A's last season. It was his highest ERA since 1999
  8. Didnt see this posted, sorry if it already is but I thought i was interesting: http://www.twnpnews.com/messages/13769.shtml Happy Thanksgiving to all the White Sox Nation!
  9. I can understand why people on here do not care for them or there numbers, they are not my favorite players either...that being said, they are still a member of this team that I love. They go out there and give there best whenever they are called upon and there has been nothing that I have seen that has been reported that they are a nuisance in the clubhouse...so give em a break. They do there best and they are a part of the team chemistry, sure I wish they where better, but hell I wish we had Albert Pujols on our team too. All Im saying is give em a break there not going out there trying to throw games for the other team...they are apart of this team and they deserve to be rooted for as well....sorry for my rant
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) Meaux was aquired by the Sox from the Giants a few years back in a deadline deal along with Felix Diaz. he was also available on waivers before too
  11. Got this off the ESPN Padres website.........Scouting Report 2004 Season The Devil Rays acquired Geoff Blum from Houston thinking that he was a utility infielder who was only an opportunity away from becoming an everyday third baseman. Instead, he struggled from the start of spring training, never made the adjustment to the AL, and went on to have the worst season of his pro career. Hitting, Baserunning & Defense Blum's strength had been consistency. But he was so lost at the left side of the plate and his mechanics were so off that he actually hit much better righthanded in 2004. The more he struggled, the more frustrated he got and the more often he got himself out chasing bad pitches. Blum has smooth hands and moves well enough for a big guy that he can still be an asset defensively, though he looks more comfortable at third than second, shortstop or in the outfield. While Blum isn't fast, he is a solid baserunner. 2005 Outlook The Rays weren't going to pay Blum in excess of $1 million to be a backup again, so he headed back to the National League by signing a one-year deal with San Diego. He will assume the role of a versatile and valuable utilityman. He is making $575,000 this year....but I guess he is a free agent after this year? If someone could help me clarify if this is the case or if he is arbitration eligible or what not it would be greatly appreciated...Thanks
  12. I think Bloom will fill in good for us...got him for basically nothing...does anyone know his contract status?? Or where i might find info about it? Thanks
  13. Rotoworlds take....White Sox acquired infielder Geoff Blum from the Padres for LHP Ryan Meaux. Insurance with Joe Crede on the way out? We hope not. Blum will be an upgrade over Willie Harris in a utility role, but since manager Ozzie Guillen likes Pablo Ozuna, he shouldn't get enough at-bats to have any fantasy value. Blum was hitting .242/.323/.377 in 223 AB for the Padres. Jul. 31 - 1:15 pm et Ryan Meaux - S - CWS Padres acquired LHP Ryan Meaux from the White Sox for infielder Geoff Blum
  14. my vote goes to dj connor from the roseanne show
  15. Hey sorry if this was mentioned already but I didnt see it anywhere...saw this on rotoworld: Padres acquired catcher Miguel Olivo from the Mariners for catcher Miguel Ojeda and RHP Nate Mateo. It's worth a try. The Mariners thought they had a long-term starter in Olivo when they got him in the Freddy Garcia trade, but he disappointed both offensively and defensively. The Padres will keep him in the majors and let him split time with David Ross, apparently taking Robert Fick out of the mix for starts at catcher. If they don't re-sign Ramon Hernandez in the offseason, Olivo would become a candidate to start in 2006. He shouldn't have much in the way of short-term fantasy value. Jul. 31 - 2:20 am et Miguel Ojeda - C - Mariners Mariners acquired catcher Miguel Ojeda and RHP Nate Mateo from the Padres for catcher Miguel Olivo. Because the Yorvit Torrealba pickup didn't make it obvious enough that they were giving up on Miguel Olivo, the Mariners made it offical. Ojeda might be assigned to Triple-A Tacoma for now, but the plan is probably for him to be Torrealba's backup through at least 2006. The 30-year-old was a disappointment for the Padres this season after decent showings as a reserve in 2003 and '04. As someone who will start 40 games or so, he should be OK. Mateo, 24, had a 3.08 ERA in 48 relief appearances for Double-A Mobile. He has the fastball to be sort of useful as a 12th pitcher. Jul. 31 - 2:17 am et I always liked Olivo and he has good potential, I wish him all the luck!
  16. 1. Orioles 2. Nationals Im from the DC area, so those are the two closest for me
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) yeah that is a huge shocker, Id thought he would of ended up resigning even if Ray Allen was brought back. If we did end up losing Scott Skiles he was the guy I wanted us to make a push for too. Acutally Allen and McMillan werent that close, Allen did flourish in McMillan system but they had more of just an associate relationship. I am a huge Sonics fan and I really cant blame Nate for leaving, he gave 19 great years to the team, now its his time to go where the money is. They offered him more money and more years...good luck to him....
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) Loaiza's a class act. I wish nothing but the best for him. beat me to it! great minds think alike

  21. you can just throw me in whatever league is open, i am cool with it thanks
  22. i would also love to be in a league again this year, i believe i was in league 4 last year
  23. For me, i would have to say Jemaine Dye...just because he decided to play here even after receiving an offer from another team for more money at the last minute just because he had given his word. He is a class act an a great addition to this team
