  1. i'm more disturbed by his bad decision-making in the outfield. offensively, he has to learn to lay off the slow stuff in the dirt away, he always strikes out on that.
  2. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) The date doesn't work for me lol
  3. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) the friday game against the a's this year we had willie harris playing 2nd and in the 2 hole. During that game he had 3 chances to move scott pods over w/ no outs. All those times he failed and the run never came in. We lost the game 4-2. Gooch is needed in the 2 hole. He also has an advantage because he's seeing better pitches when pitchers are worried about pods. Keep him there. ditto
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) Kongs hitting chart at the Cell. Its a blood bath at third. i've noticed that too. thanx for the chart.
  5. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) jose's had WAY too many good outing to make me lost faith in him now. he'll be fine. ditto
  6. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) will you stop bumping this thread. everyone knows you don't like hawk. drop it. i thought this was america where we have freedom of speech. why should i not defend myself?
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 08:22 AM) And your think about liking old men did? Give it up. that wasn't even a comeback. that was a possible reasoning for thinking hawk is great. just cause other announcers aren't great doesn't automatically make him great either.
  8. QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) wow, you are clueless. ive been listening to hawk announce since i was so young, and i cant imagine anyone else. if you were a flubs fan you probably would have slammed harry carry when he was announcing too, who was at least three times as incoherent as hawk is now. why dont you just mute your tv and turn on espn 1000 if you are so pissed at hawk? if you dont have anything nice to say, dont speak. lol, and what you said is very nice? usually when you say something, you wanna stick to it and not say something hypocritical.
  9. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) I dont think pods is teaching him. I think it just nobody expects him to steal and when he does there surprised and cant do anything about it. i concur
  10. mine are the brewers. miller park is an awesome place to watch a baseball game, even better than the cell. went to the nats-brewers game up there in milwaukee this past thursday, great facility. i like how they get the kids involved more. they have kids yell out "play ball" b4 the game and they have kids do some of the pa announcing of the players' names for a lil while. plus it just has a different atmosphere, more like an old-fashioned game, which is cool. i like the 'o' cheering thing fans do w/ their arms for overbay. the sausage race was fun, and packers coach mike sherman was in the house. they showed a pre-game video montage of c. lee's blasts in the hr derby. and they got this baseball bingo where you're given scorings on a bingo card, using the scorings as the items to get 5 in a row of, another cool thing. was lookin forward to seeing a livan hernandez-doug davis matchup but since livan got used in the all-star game they pushed him back a day, so it was john patterson(1 of my fantasy players) vs. davis, which turned out to be a pretty good game, each guy w/ 9 k's. preston wilson got a hr in his 1st ab w/ the nats, carlos lee(someone i was lookin forward to seein again) very unfortunately struck out FOUR times, a lot of changeups in the dirt for him. another cool part was when patterson was in his motion to pitch, he got all herky jerky when he heard the blue angels fly overheard, funny to see. apparently, they were practicing for an air show. and after patterson left the game, i rooted for the brew crew, and they came thru w/ a geoff jenkins hr to tie the game @ 2 and a 2-out, 2 run, GW bases-loaded double from damian miller in the 8th. turnbow came in for the save and was blowing guys away with his 98 mph fastball. yep, all in all a very fun time w/ the good seats in the 30,000+ crowd(surprising, cause i didn't think there would be that many). just an awesome time, and $6 parking ain't bad either.
  11. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) He is our everyday centerfielder for a while. He's not going anywhere. This post, quite frankly, is ludicrous. i concur, unless you guys know something i don't.
  12. i thought today was a different shingo. he got ahead of em 0-2 a lot but it wasn't so much that he couldn't put em away. to me, it looked more like he was being lacksadaisical in that it seemed like he was expecting them to chase a bad pitch on purpose cause of the lopsided score and rain delay to get the game over with, not necessarily cause of bad command or lack of aggressiveness. i think he underrated their wanting to battle.
  13. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) Is your thumb broken? Are you not up-to-date on technology? There are two things you can do: mute him or don't watch. If you have such a problem with Hawk, don't listen. Hawk Harrelson will be in the Hall of Fame as an announcer someday. His style is memorable, down home, and fun. He enjoys the White Sox and he enjoys the game of baseball. If he were announcing for a higher profile team, he could be on the same level as Jack Buck, Harry Caray, Ernie Harwell, Phil Rizzuto, etc. He is knowledgable of the present game and of the history of the game. So, he's repetitive. If I talked to you everyday, or anyone on this board, I bet I could find things that you say that are annoying and repetitive. As Yas said, he is THE voice of the White Sox and I couldn't see it any other way. Unless they brought Piersall back. its not that i hate him to that point, just saying he's not great like everyone makes him seem. he's tolerable for the most part.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) So what are you trying to say, you like little boys? great comeback. NOT. has no point to it.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) My best moment was tracking a foul ball near the backstop. As a good catcher I would carry my mask with me until I was under the ball, then throw it far away. That way I wouldn't trip on it if the ball drifted. So I'm under the ball, I throw the mask and her AWWWWWW s***. I threw it directly into the Umps balls. The game was delayed for 30 minutes while he recovered. lol
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) I just thought this play deserved some mentioning. To be honest, I've never seen that play in the majors before, you look at the start of the play where Rowand was positioned and it's absolutely amazing for him to get to that ball. Just an absolutely fantastic play by Aaron, possibly a game saver. This play is almost symbolic of how this season has been, everyone on the team chipping in, players bailing their teammates out in certain situations. To Aaron To the White Sox I absolutely love this team, they can go along way people, lets enjoy it. exactly what i thought.
  17. i dunno, it was just one game and they coulda been nervous.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) Wow, you killed him in that argument! man, you guys either don't watch the games, have him muted, or like old men, i dunno which one it is.
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 06:23 AM) He didn't like Manuel and came out and said so right after the 2002 season, he said Manuel didn't do a good managerial job that year. It serves no purpose for Harrelson to call out Manuel by name at this point, it'd be unprofessional. true, so why keep doing it? does he really have to keep referring to manuel? just say ozzie's doing a good job and leave it at that.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 06:48 AM) I love Hawk but I agree his Manuel bashing is excessive and pointless. If you aren't going to bash him when he's here don't do it over a year after he left. Jerry Manuel was and probably still is a classy man. He did his job like he thought should be done. The bottom line is if his pitchers pitched like they have this season he still would be managing the Sox. His approach worked great in 2000. Many of the great things Hawk says about Ozzie he was saying about Jerry in 2000. He needs to move on. yep, right on the money. finally someone sees what i'm talkin about. i guess a lot of ppl round here like old men, i dunno.
  21. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) 1) He doesn't say it every game...you're exaggerating 2) Manual has been mentioned very few times this year...Hawk isn't out to insult Jerry 3) Curses are for the Northside of town....Hawk does nothing to change the ball flight mid air. It's either gonna go out or its not....I don't give a s*** what Hawk says. 1)of course i'm exaggerating to get my point across, but it's really not far off. lately, it's been like 5 times a week. 2)he doesn't mention manuel directly, that's the point that he's being a wuss. he refers to manuel's regime as "the people that were here before" ozzie. and he is out to rip on manuel. 3)watch and you'll see
  22. QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) I've heard most of the other teams announcers and yes, some of them aren't very good. Others are very good. I think Milwaukee has a rather good pair. Now, the difference between Hawk and the other bad announcers is the others are just forgettable, not irritating. good point
