Respect is a two way street. Behind closed doors I am not sure what goes on. Possibly respect was not given to Kenny by Frank either. Maybe Kenny feels not returning his phone calls is a lack of respect enough for him to do what he is doing. Either way we can obviously see that neither one really respects each other on a personal basis. On the field, as a player, I am sure Kenny respects what he has done. As a person I don't believe either one respects each other.

I don't agree with this at all. Frank gets paid a yearly salary. It is not just HIS time. Isn't that why everyone is pissed off at the baby bulls? For not staying in shape? I am not saying Frank isn't dedicated. I know he is and I know he comes in in shape. What I am saying is it is not just HIS time. He has a job to do. It is not a part time position. I believe if you are getting paid millions of dollars to play a game then you dedicate yourself to that game. That is if you have any pride what so ever in what you do.

Past time I think you may be missing something here. I have mentioned this before. Maybe Kenny wants this to get out to Frank. Maybe he wants Frank to demand a trade. We all know Kenny has wanted him out the past couple years. Maybe I am wrong, but don't you think this could be the case? As far as Kenny spending less time on the airwaves I think you would be in the minority there. Just from listening to it, it seemed like people couldn't wait to hear what Kenny had to say. It seemed like people were waiting for him to come on. I agree we need more pitching, but 10 minutes out of his day on his drive home won't stop him from doing his job.

Thank you Jim. I have tried to see the other side. I really don't agree with it. I think a lot is to do about nothing. The media blew it way out of proportion. Then it takes on a whole new life when people get into an uproar about it. That is all the media wants. If there is a controversey then they did their job. They reap the benefits. That is why this is a story. This is why it is news worthy. People say they don't care, but then when a question is asked and answered everyone gets on one side or another. Do you see why the media would want that? Do you see why it IS news worthy. Radio shows want people to listen and call in. Who was one of the first people to call in to the Afternoon Thunder? You guessed it, Steff. Why did she call in? To defend Frank. That is what they want. This is an issue that people take one side or the other. It is an issue that hits the fans and the media loves it! But it's not news worthy right? OK fine. Ratings! People listen! People call in! I really doubt that Frank even watched or listened to the press conference. He may just be going by what people are telling him or maybe he just doesn't care about anythign that is going on. Maybe he isn't paying attention to anything and just wants to keep himself focused and motivated. In fact I hope that is exactly what he is doing because he is awesome when he is focused.

Show me this exact quote because I must have missed something. I believe he said every player should play hard and run the bases hard including Frank. I believe Frank is known for taking drills off. When he wouldn't run the shuttle drill a couple years ago that was a huge thing. It is like pointing out your best player and saying everyone has to do these things including your best player. No one gets a play off not even your best player. Like saying everyone has to make a tackle including Brian Urlacher. Everyone has to give it their all including Brian Urlacher. I really believe he is being either misquoted or misunderstood. Whoever doesn't like Ozzie is going to hear what they want to hear and the way they want to hear it. It can be taken a couple different ways. I believe that is why I hear it one way and you hear it another. I also don't ebleive Ozzie's English skills may come into play with this. Just give the guy a break and see what he can do with this team. We already knew what the last guy could do. Hopefully Ozzie can do more with less. I want to see my team win and Ozzie will play a big part of that. Hopefully Frank will too.

To each his own is correct. If this at all pertains to me, then I don't believe that I made any snide comments about this to alienate anyone. However, If I did then I am certainly not alone in this Steff as I have seen many from you. You seem to be going after every single post I write to try to alienate me. Again, to each his own. I have posted on here many times as it is only my opinion. I even agree to disagree on a lot. I respect everyone's opinon. However, when someone, such as yourself, makes an attack and tells me to get Ozzie's dick out of my mouth I take offense to it. It seems like a logical response to me. Then again I wasn't supposed to be offended when you called me an ignorant dips*** and then laugh about it. Like you said to each their own. Do what you have to do, but don't expect me to just sit back and take it from you just because everyone else does.

baggio, I remember when the trade happened. It was reported all over the place that he was a broken down pitcher and he lost a lot of velocity. I believe everyone but the dodgers knew this guy was broken down.
-
No Bagio I am not. I was talking about the Wells trade. Move on.

CBS Sportsline Rumor, someone wrote it

Magglio Ordonez Joe Borchard and Willie Harris for Alfonso Soriano and Livan hernandez. f*** that! -
First of all let me say this. I am not doubting your knowledge on anything, but I do think a lot is speculation. Ok, now again, as I said, I think Kenny does have influence and input. I don't believe it is his decision to make. It was Fontaine's or Wilder's decision to make. He is not lying there. Now when he says he has this information then I am sure he shared it with Fontaine and Wilder. It was then up to them to make a decision on what to do. They made that decision. Would you keep someone on that did what he suupposedly did? I think not. I think if it got to the point where Wilder or Fontaine wanted to keep him on as manger then Kenny would have a decision to make. I don't believe it ever got that far. The final decision was made by Wilder and Fontaine. Would they not have been doing their job if they didnt make that decision? I don't know, depends on your opinion on what trully happened. Would Kenny not have been doing his job by witholding that information? I believe so. You need to help each other out in an organization.
-
Oh please. The Todd Ritchie trade has no way of being defended. The only thing I can think of is that Kenny was desperate and needed a starter. He lost that one big time.
-
I agree with you. I never said it was a good trade. It also didn't hurt us during that season. In fact Buehrle credits Wells for showing him some things and how to pitch. I would not say it was a bad trade either. I think Wells opening up his mouth divided the clubhouse, but with all the injuries we had that season it really didn't seem to matter. I don't see the comparison to what Ozzie said to what Wells said. Wells basically called Thomas a sissy when he didnt even know the extent of the injury. Oz has never done anything that stupid.
-
I would love to see an example of this. If the guys are not ready to move up then they are not forced. You can always sign guys from other places as fillers. Sometimes players are also throw in a trade as minor league fillers. I would like to see this assumption or theory based on some sort of fact.
-
I believe this is all speculation as I really doubt you know how this or any other baseball front office works. So I will take these statements with a grain of salt. I also don't see where Kenny contradicted himself if it was Fontaines call or Wilders call. He can know just about anything he wants about anyone. I don't believe all the minor league operations and decisions are based on what Kenny believes should happen. Does he have input? Yes I believe he does. Does he have the final say? No I believe that is Wilders job. I can't believe you would know anymore about this as I doubt you have ever had a job in a profession baseball team's front office.
-
So what you are basically saying is that the trade didnt work out. Which is what Kenny gets blamed for all the time. Sometimes the trade looks good to start with, but it just doesnt work out.
-
One player will never be the answer in my opinion. To say that he wouldn't have helped push us over the top I think would have been a lie. I think every fan of the Sox thought he was enough, if healthy, to put us into the playoffs.
-
Well DICK, I guess some people need a reporter to tell them what they saw and heard. I am not one of those people. I know what I saw and heard. There is nothing Ozzie said that called Frank out. He even said he loves Frank and he wants him with the team. Plus the reporter asked specifically about Frank. Ozzie answered that question honestly. There is nothing more to it. I don't even see what Ozzie said that was so bad. I think Steff is too busy trying to prepare for her next confrontation with Dan McNeil to invite me over to watch the Ozzie press conference again. I sure hope she is more prepared next time. That didn't turn out well for her at all.

That is f***ed up

You are right they do. He picked a bad time to do it. He could have waited until the season was completely over. That is all I am saying. Please don't give me this gone to battle crap. I hate that. They wouldn't know the first thing about war or a battle. I am not saying I do either. I also have more respect for what our soldiers go through than to use that analogy.

Yes I know this has happened, however who has more payroll to work with? Danny Evans has done nothing to improve that team. Why would you have traded Grudz and Karros for Hundley? You say KW has done nothing to improve our team? What the hell has Evans done to improve that? WIth more payroll to use?

Right on JIM!!!!!

I am sure there are more if I sat and thought about it. Willie Harris for Chris SIngleton may not turn out to be too shabby. Singleton has sucked. If Harris can be what Kenny thinks he can then there is another steal. We basically received Alomar, Sullivan, and Everett for nothing last year, plus those teams basically paid for those players. The only player I have seen that could really be something is Ring. We will have to wait until that deal matures and see what happens. We have nothing to show for it this year, but those players did help us get back into it last year. David Wells for Sirotka should have worked out. Too bad Wells is such a fat ass that his back blew out on him that year. I don't remember one fan saying that was a bad trade when it happened. Royce Clayton was a bad move? We didn't give up anything for him, so I don't see how that is a bad move. It is a wash as far as I am concerned. If you want to say he was a clubhouse cancer then I would have to see proof of that as we didn't win anything with him or without him. I will say he was an asshole though. Keith Foulke had to go. Manuel killed his confidence here. I still think he is not a big game closer. He consistently got hit hard against the Twins and Yankees in big games for us. I even think his numbers were helped by Oakland's stadium last year. I can't wait to see how he does in Boston. Koch was awful last year, just awful. Lets see how he does this year. If he turns things around and becomes the closer he used to be then I think we may just have a wash there as well. Plus it was a salary move. Foulke wouldn't be with us now. Everyone knew that. We signed Koch for a year longer at a cheaper price than Foulke. There were a couple reasons that trade was made. Ok any others?

Lets take a look at that 95 win team that he inherited. The pitching staff was decimated by injuries when he inherited it. Sirotka, Baldwin, Parque, Eldred. Not to mention injuries to Howry and Simas as well. I would like to see even the great Billy Beane lose his entire pitching staff due to injuries and see what he is capable of. In fact Beane's pitching staff is the only reason he is in the playoffs year in and year out. I belive his starters are all home grown and yet he gets the credit for this. His scouts don't get any of the credit? I think that is something that hurts the White Sox more than anything. Our scouting system is one of the worst in the majors. We barely even touch the asian market as far as scouting goes. Our farm system? Oh yeah that really produced a bunch of studs. Kenny had a lot to work with there. McKay Christensen, Brian Simmons, Jeff Leifer, Jeff Abbott, Lorenzo Barcelo, Kip Wells, Jesus Pena, and Aaron Myette. Yeah looks great. People that rate farm systems usually don't have a clue to what they are talking about. What else did we have that year? Oh yeah Herbert Perry, Chris Singleton, and Jose Valentin all had career years. Frank Thomas was hurt in the first month of 2001. If anything that team 2000 overachieved. Then take away your 4 starters and your the top hitter out of the middle of your lineup and how do you continue to win? I would like to see any GM deal with what KW has had to deal with since that 95 win season. I guarantee you it would not be pretty.

I believe he said the decisions on minor league teams are not up to him. He may have an input on the decisions but the final decisions are now left up to wilder and previously fontaine. To think that Kenny didn't have anything to say about the decision would be nieve, however he never said he didn't. He said the decision to get rid of him was up to fontaine and then wilder.
-
Honestly, yes I would. I would not like that at all. I would hate to see a member from my team/coaching staff calling someone from my teams most hated rivals and congratulating them for beating my team to clinch the division championship and getting to the playoffs. It was not the right time to do it. If it is a month later. The season is over, then fine. Not during the season after they just beat us. I would have a big problem with that. Maybe it is just me, but I don't like it one bit. This point is moot anyway as Kenny hinted to it being a lot bigger than that.
