QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 02:55 AM) LSU, MSU, OSU, Gonzaga, Ill, Iowa, Florida, UNC, Nevada. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, 9 teams are a lot. Nevada definitely was not a lock for anything. They were 6 point favorites. Those are some tough games to take. As you can see from my previous post I doubled my money. I am going with another 7 point teaser later today. I have Ohio State -3.5, Michigan State +3, and North Carolina -4.5. I also have a little bit of money on a money line parlay that can also possibly double my money. I have Kansas (-320), Ohio State (-750), Michigan State (-200), and North Carolina (-950). Good luck to you on your bets today. -

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) I don't know, I don't consdier these "big spreads" Most of the time #1 vs #16 seed spead is in the mid 30s, Ive actually seen Duke favored by 57 as a #1 and cover it. I doubt anyone would bench their starting 5 in the tournament with 10-12 lead. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, but they could bench them with a 20 point lead. 20 points can get down to 12 or 10 very fast. I don't like those big spreads. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) So take the points. I'm trying your advice and am doing a 9 team parlay with all the s***ty money lines. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't trust it either way. Damn, 9 teams are a lot. Which 9? -

QUOTE(SnB @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 02:57 AM) on big spreads I'll always take the underdog, especially in football. Sometime in college football, the spreads are like 30+, usually those are a safe bet........unless USC is the favorite. I'll never bet against again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For the most part I agree. I will usually parlay 3-5 teasers in closer games. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) Besides our yahoo! brackets, I did one at work for money. We only have like 15 people in for $25 each, but about 4 or 5 have Gonzaga in the final four, 2 have them in the final game. I like my chances since I got em booted in round 2. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is that what this thread is about? -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 12:45 AM) I think I'd take Memphis to cover over Oral Roberts. Then again, this is not a game you'd want to bet on. Big spreads are just too hard to cover sometimes and anything can happen when Memphis takes out its starters with 5 minutes left and Oral Roberts lights it up in garbage time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I totally agree Aboz -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) Some of these first round #1 seed spreads don't look too bad. Texas -14.5, Memphis -12.5. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't trust either one to cover those. -

QUOTE(Spiff @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) Yes, they wouldn't be posted at all. The odds would be way worse than -1000 anyway even if they were, because like you said a 16 has never beaten a 1. Sports books are not set up to make you money. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, I know they are not set up to make me money. But I do pretty damn well. This is my first year betting on basketball in general and I thought I found a system flaw that I could exploit. I really don't know why more people don't bet on the money line. It may not make as much money as you would like for one gamble, but over the long haul, day in and day out, you will make out pretty damn good. For example I took parlayed UTEP (-800) and San Antonio Spurs (-750) for $500.00. I made $137.50 last night. The night before I took the Clippers (-400) for $536.00. I made $133.59 that night. Just wondering why more people that gamble don't do that instead. It seems like it makes money and you have a much better chance to make money that way. I thought I found a system flaw, so I decided to ask about it. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) Rowand, I think you, me, and Rex are the only ones who realize how good Bradley is. I'm with you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I realize how good Bradley is as well, but they shouldn't beat Kansas. Can it happen? Of course, but it would be a big surprise to me. -

QUOTE(Spiff @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) A lot of times if the line is big enough (or small enough), the money line isn't even bettable. Plus the odds would be so s***ty, you'd have to bet a ton of money to even win anything. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Isn't bettable as one won't be posted? Even if the odds are s***ty (-1000), if you are parlaying 4 teams at those odds you will still double your money. I mean there isn't anything closer to a for sure thing in gambling than that. A number 1 seed has never lost. So if you are able to parlay 4 at 500 bucks and make 500 bucks in a day, what is wrong with that? -

QUOTE(SnB @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) most places don't even have a money line for the 1's <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, the moneylines aren't available at them moment for those games. They are usually available the day of. This is the first time I have ever looked at it this way, so who knows, maybe they don't put a moneyline on those teams. -
Considering that the #1's have never lost in the first round and that #2's very seldom lose in the first round, has anyone here ever bet on the money line on them? Taking a 4 team parlay on the #1's would double your money and a 8 team parlay on the 1's and 2's on the money line would bring a return of 3.3 times your wager. I am just wondering if anyone here has done this before. If not, why would someone choose not to do this? Isn't this as close to a sure thing as you can possibly get?

The most interesting question that comes to my mind is why the hell are you reading msnlifestyle?

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 03:39 AM) Yeah, what were we thinking. We should have seen into the future, like you did days after it happened. Tell us, swami, what will happen 5 days from now. Just tell us 6 days from now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm, didn't know I had to watch dates and times of other posts. No one posted after that.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) Well, he certainly appears to be the most polished prospect since Julius Peppers. If I were the Saints, I would try the move down as best I could. If they are able to slide down a few spots, draft Ferguson, and make some wise selections in the second and third round, they will have themselves a nice little off-season and will definitely have something to work with in 2006. Aaron Brooks will either be cut or traded, there's a new coach in town, and they will have their first real quarterback since Archie Manning. I've been going over the books for a little while now, and, I just don't know if anyone will be willing to jump up to the two slot. There is a lot of talent to be had and if the Saints stay put, that pretty much means both Leinart and Young we be available later than anticipated. If I had to guess right here, right now: Leinart to the Titans and his buddy Norm Chow, Cutler taken far too high by the Jets, and Young falls to the Raiders with the seventh overall selection--no later than 9 to the Lions. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I believe this is what Houston will try to do. I bet Houston tries to trade down (possibly with the Jets so they can get Bush and the NFL would love him in media capital New York City) and then draft Ferguson. Houston just needs so much help in so many places, especially O-Line.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) San Diego will rue this day. I think Leinart is a Jet now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You think? Brees is damn good. This frees them up to get Mario Williams. Brees is a proven QB. Leinhart may be good and better than Brees, but he has proven nothing at the NFL level. I think this is a great signing by NO. Mario Williams is going to be a big time player.
-
Chester Taylor better be the starting RB with the money they are paying him. Is Onterrio Smith still a Vike or is he a restricted FA? Mewelde Moore is not an every down back. He is injured way too often. The Ravens are not looking for a RB in the draft since they have both Jamal Lewis and Mike Anderson. That would be kind of silly to draft.

This draft thing is already f***ed. New Orleans won't select Leinhart with their pick. They will either trade down or select Mario Williams because they signed Drew Brees. This affects at least 2 picks here. START OVER!!!!! -
Boone Logan to start in the majors?...
southsideirish replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I will call him LOOGY Logan. He seems like he is very good against lefthanded hitters. I see no problem with carrying him as our LOOGY.
