QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) Making $$.. the American Dream. And what if he is telling the truth Jason.. ?? The reason I don't think its true is because this comes down to the boy who cried wolf. Canseco is broke and is doing everything and anything he can to make a little money. Larussa talked about it and said McGwire and Jose didn't even hang out and pretty much said the stuff was 100% BS. At least about Jose shooting him up. Then you have Canseco making this blatant accusations of actually shooting this guys up with roids and then later on he's asked and he goes I dont' remember, I may of done it once or twice for these players. My 2 cents is when it smells like bulls***, it is bulls***. I'm not saying these guys aren't juicing, I just think Jose has absolutely ZERO credibility at this point. -

Thing is, I don't buy it. Not that many players are on roids, imo. I just don't buy the everyones on steroids approach that he seems to be taking. I guess we'll see what happens when the players named are interviewed and what there take is. -

Canseco is a grade A asshole. I'm completely against Roids, but the only reason he's doing this is so his piece of s*** self can make some money on his book. f*** Jose, and I'm boycotting his book. The guys just throwing out accusations. He can kiss my ass. -
Hey Dan, I guess its alright with me if we just went with 1 hitter and 1 pitcher mandatory and the other two as wild cards, but just to take a quick vote is that cool with everyone else?

I'm going to put in all the names of people who asked specifically to join this league. I am going to do it in a first come first serve basis so give me a few days to look back cause I know people posted this type of stuff in a few threads. I don't think there will be more then 1-2 openings, but you never know. And remember, there is going to be a 2nd keeper league as well. This one will start this year so just because you don't get in this one, you will still be able to get in the other one. Waiting List: WinningUgly SoxBadger

I just sent out a PM to all the members I had listed above. If for some reason you didn't get it, please tell me and I'll send you it out.
-
Definately Badger. I'm going to move this post to another thread where I'll create a list of people in line for this league. I also know another league will be started or at least thats what I'm hearing so everyone should be able to get their fix.
-
This is the teams that were in it last year (I still need to figure out who the last team was, so if someone remembers please tell me, otherwise I'm gonna be digging up through so much crap to find the list I printed out). Chisoxfn - Victory Danman Cheat Soxfan420 Heads Steff Aboz Supersteve Asshat Cy Young Porzio Kapkomet I'm not sure if everyone from this league is sticking in. I'm going to shoot everyone a PM just telling them to PM me there keepers and I'll post them here or for them to just reply here. This is going to be finalized next week though.
-
This thread will be closed a week from now and any team without keepers will be emailed by me (if I remember who the hell was in the league). If not, I will re-open the league to others. It will once again be a 12 team league based on a weekly lineup (not daily). Remember, you get 4 keepers and then were going to do a minor league draft. We need to conduct a date for the minor league draft and I'm going to offer a few Saturday suggestions sometime in the next week or so. So post your keepers in this thread. Unfortunately, I can't find my list of all the roster stuff. I know its somewhere in my house but I have no idea where. All my crap got moved when my dad got married and I can't find half of the stuff cause whatever I had laying around was basically put in some random spot. Remember, its mandatory to keep two hitters and two pitchers. Note, I dropped the keeper total to 4. My Keepers: Vladdy Guerrero Curt Schilling Francisco Rodriguez (K-Rod) Ivan Rodriguez God damn, I didn't realize it was so tough. I wish I could of kept my entire team. The way we will do this is we'll randomize the draft order and in the first 4 rounds, you must pick your keepers players. As far as the draft goes, the rule is we will draft 7 minor leaguers this year, and then 5 in each of the following years. You will have the rights to these players for 3 years and they won't have to be protected on the keeper list at the end of the seasons. They don't have to be on the active roster and those minor leaguers that have been drafted can not be claimed by another team. Registered Teams: Soxtalk Mallers (Chisoxfn) Flairs (Danman)

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) -Cliff Lee has Contreras type #'s with less experience. -Milwood is moving to a more favorable hitters park than Philly. -Elarton washes out of COL but has respectible #'s in 1/2 a season. Sorry I don't but it. CC vs Buerhle : adv MarkB JW vs Garcia : adv Garcia KM vs Hernandez : even CL vs JC : adv Contreras SE vs JG : adv Garland (All of the AL hasn't even seen Elarton yet!) Just wanna say, Philly is a hitters park and the Jake is a pitchers park in comparison. No one is gonna tell me any different cause the ball jumps out of Philly's new ballpark.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) My list. 1. Yankees 2. Red Sox 3. Twins 4. White Sox (We have a lot of question marks fellas, sorry.) 5. Angels Any rotation with El Duque, Contreras and Garland is gonna have a lot of questionmarks in my mind. Garcia, and Buehrle are semi locks (unless health gets them) and then Garland will at worse put up the numbers he's been doing but with Contreras and El Duque you really have no idea. And Garland doesn't exactly put up great numbers, although I think he'll finally turn that corner this year (for the umpteenth year). Right now I think the Sox rotation has potential to be very good, but I wouldn't rate it too highly. However, I really like the bullpen. And I just want to note that my knock on El Duque is 100% health related.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) Keep it on the DL, but another 110 of us are going to Iowa, again...i'll be one of em. There are also a ton of OSU tickets being bought up...place will be very orange like it was last year i would imagine. You'll be crying. It will be the only game Iowa wins the rest of the year. For some reason they tend to step it up against really good opponents while sucking against everyone else. -
This is the only one for me. This damn thing takes up all my increpid computer time. Sometimes I wonder what I could accomplish if I stayed off the damn computer. I'm gonna find out this year because I started suspending myself when I have other more important things to do, lol.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) I saw that on bbb and nearly cried with laughter. The guy was serious as all hell too. I was just shaking my head. I know when he came in and first took off with the Bulls (after his early woes in his rookie year) you would hear people mentioning his name. If I recall didn't Jerry Sloan mention something like that as well? Not that he can be serious. But I'm super high on Hinrich. I also feel the team is better with Duhon starting then Gordon starting just because Gordon is a freaking turn-style defensively. That and I don't really like the way the offense is ran with Gordon in the lineup at times. I don't blame it when he's coming off the bench cause its his job to shoot like hell (he's by far the best shooter on this team), but as a starter its a bit different in the sense that he'd have to roll with the offense and I think he still kind of struggles with that, of course part of the reason is because he's such a damn good scorer. He'll learn though since it seems he has the work ethic the Bulls desire out of their players.

f***ing Hawkeyes. They are up for a good portion of the 2nd half against Wisconsin and once again blow a lead. Freaking pathetic pieces of crap. Alford can kiss his ass goodbye at the end of the season. This team, even without Pierce, has way too much talent to be floundering in Big ten play (not that it should really be a shocker since its what every Alford coached Hawkeye team does). Wisconsin had 21 more free throw attempts too, which makes it really tough. Wisconsin had a 22-4 run though after the Hawkeyes took a decent size lead. Damn it too, cause this was a win the Hawks could of really needed. Thank god we got Ferentz -

Mos and Krush, just wanted to say I edited your guys argument out of this thread and put it in an admin forum. I know you two just got caught up in the heat or whatever and any further actual arguments (not debate or discussion) can be handled via aim or whever else, I don't really care. -
Merged this topic with the main one.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) He is still way to sloppy with some of his passes. Whatever what happened to the shooter he was at kansas? I don't know about you. But i am not a fan of having two starters shooting under .40 % from the field ( duhon and hinrich). Also whoever said he is a triple double threat every night in that other thread you posted is f***ing nuts. I agree with that at this point in time, but no doubt in my mind that he has the potential to be that type of ballplayer. He's a good rebounder, good passer, great defender (especially for his size) and a good shooter (percentages be damned, he's gonna be a good shooter in this league). Hinrich is legit. I woudln't call him a star, but at worse he'll be like Mike Bibby (but better defensively) and at best he could be more like John Stockton (f*** that idea, no one is gonna be like Stockton, but Hinrich is a very very smart ballplayer).
-
Hinrich gets my first vote, with Deng 2nd, and then Chandler/Curry. I agree with Chandler and he played furocious defense today plus I love his intensity and attitude, but I also like Curry. I'd put Gordon behind them simply because he's still an awful defensive player and I don't accept that.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) True about the good year, bad year history for Farnsworthless. BUT: He's never switched leagues before. A whole new crop of players to try to learn about. Plus, he's retarded. That makes learning new things difficult for him. He's already 29 years old, and inconsistent as hell. It could work out for the Tiggs, but it's just YET ANOTHER gamble for them. Technically speaking, him joining a new league tends to be more adventageous for a pitcher, while it can be detrimental to a hitter. So I'd say switching leagues will actually benefit Farnie. However I also think the AL Central is a very good fastball hitting division. I know the Sox tend to be a good fastball hitting team.
-
Mutumbo came in and the Bulls absolutely took a dive. Luckily HInrich carried them back to 8 to close out the half. I think they still got a shot, call me crazy, simply because the Bulls couldn't of played worse and they are still in this game. Plus the Rockets played very very very well. One thing I'm concerned about is that the Bulls may get tired considering they just played a tiring game against the Mavs. Luckily the travel time in these back to backs isn't much anything.
