Left handers... mensa schizophreniacs..??
Of course I don't really fit the terms they give of lefties of being musical and artistic. I'm so far from it. I'm much more analytical in a sense.

KW on the radio Wednesday
My guess is they sign Wright or Renteria in the next day or two and then in the meetings either make a trade or another signing. If they make two signings then I'm assuming they pick up Wright and Renteria.

Thats what I think will happen as well. Since it seems the Twins have their catching duo they will be out of it. The Dodgers would go after him I would think. I think it would come down to the Sox and Dodgers if the Sox were interested. With the Mets as sleepers.

Rumors thread
Angels looking to make a splash. Gammons reports they have decided to take Cabrerra over Renteria. I'm assuming he means thats who they will target. Either way, If the Angels offer him a fair deal, he'll go and play with Vladdy, no doubt about it. Then he said the Angels will go after Beltran and after those two moves they will look into pitching. Plus the Angels are potentially going to non-tender Washburn. So I'm gonna play a little role of reading between the lines. McPherson is their starting 3rd baseman, Cabrerra at SS, Eck or Figgs at 2nd and their outfield is full with Davannon on the bench and Erstie at first. I ask you this, would the Sox not be a good fit for the Angels. Its no secret the Angels would move Erstad if given the opportunity. The Angels also seem to of fallen out of favor with Casey Kochman. What about a package involving Konerko for Erstad and Kochman. Or a bigger package involving Konerko and Garland for Erstad, Kochman, Figgins and Brandon Donnelly. I think either package could be do-able, especially if the Sox lock up Wright. They could then look at adding another pitcher, but would have almost no worries in terms of positions. They would have a top of the order in Figgins/Erstad, a reliever in Donnelly and a stud 1st base prospect in Kochman. The Angels save some money and add a pitcher while they still go out and sign Pavano. They get a power bat in the infield which they want and unload Erstads contract (which if I recall goes another year and money wise its pretty much equal to Konerko's). The Sox then have money to sign Wright and then pick up another starter via free agency as well. Plus they have the option of signing Pyrz potentially and getting a RFer. They could even decide to play Erstad in the outfield (even though I'm not a proponent of it) and use Kochman at 1st. Kochman could play early in the season while Frank is out and then work his way to get ready for the following season or be packaged elsewhere cause he has some legit value. I know this type of deal isn't going to happen, but both teams have some parts that match up.

Aren't the Cards pretty happy about the Molina's baby brother?

Sox still remain favorites to sign Wright
Thats probably how the Mets think, and it just further explains why they are destined to a lifetime of suckitude. Retarded ass move to acquire him, and a retarded move to give him that type of money. I've never understood the Kris Benson hype.

For What Its Worth
Ya, but I don't see this as a knock on this priest. I see this as a knock on Bush. I mean come on....this is as big as a stretch as Michael Moore's conspiracy theory in Farenheit 9/11. If I read wrong, I apologize, but thats how I read it and that disgusted me. I'm not talking about the paper I'm talking about disagreeing with wino's post.

Blockbuster releases
Just netflixed Dodge Ball. I still haven't seen it and have heard that it was freaking hillarious.

Pyrz
That would explain why Hawk always says good things about Pyrz. As far as him in SF. The first month their was that report that the pitching staff didn't like him. I remember reading later in the year that it was one pitcher, things were cleared up, and that the writer really blew the whole thing out of proportion. He was pretty much made the scapegoat in SF.

I'd still offer Scho arb. I couldn't see him getting much and I still think he's a valuable arm to have, especially if the Sox haven't or aren't close to landing a pitcher or two cause its obvious they need some pitching.

Rumors thread
Gammons had a rumor that Washburn may be non-tendered by Anaheim. I don't know about you guys but this would be at least an intriguing name to look at. Also he said Scho would be non tendered.

Rumors thread
I just don't know why the Dbcaks would do it. At that point they would have to be getting a very strong package, obviously Konerko and Garland but even then I don't know if I'd make that deal if I were the Dbacks. I just can't see the Dbcaks going with Glaus and Konerko when they have Tracy their. Tracy is a damn good 3rd base prospect.

Rumors thread
Which makes both Chad Tracy and Shea Hillebrand available. I know one thing, I'd do a Konerko/Garland for Tracy/Vazquez and 12-16 mill in cash.
-
Rumors thread
You could be onto something their. The only thing is would Konerko alone be enough because the Dbacks have long said they have a big time need for pitching. And with them about to sign Troy Glaus (rumor) it would really make you wonder if Konerko would be heading their.

Rumors thread
I was surfing through some Yankee boards trying to see if anyone their heard anything on their radio. Caught on interesting thing. Some radio station out in New York was reporting that the Yankees acquired Felix Rodriguez to make way for Tom Gordon to go to Arizona along with Vazquez, 12 mill in cash, Hasley and two minor leaguers. But the posters were squalking whether it was true or not. They also said the Yanks were close to signing Milton and that some in the org are making a push to sign Wright instead of Lieber (isn't Lieber pretty much signed now???).
-
Rumors thread
The Yanks may of countered with a lower package saying, get us Garland and Konerko and we'll call it a deal. Who knows, things could change, especially with the Sox backing out of the RJ sweepstakes.

Cheap OF replacement
Holly would be a nice pickup as a backup type guy. He could even play, only problem is he gets injured way too much to be an everyday player. I've always been a Holly fan though. On a sidenote, KW will be tarred and feathered if he trades Konerko for Millar and Roberts. Remember what the BoSox gave up for Roberts and remember that Roberts is soley a pinch runner in their current system. They will move him for a solid bullpen arm, so screw a package centered around Konerko. Unless the Sox got Damon...NO DEAL. I do think Roberts would be a vet pick up though.

Rumors thread
Its too bad cause he's better then Contreras, doesn't have a long term contract, and costs less money. Yet the Sox are gonna give up Jonny boy :fyou Not that I have a problem trading Garland, I can't stand Contreras making the money he is. But who knows, maybe this time next year I'll be talking about what a bargain Jose is. I sure as hell hope so.

KW on the radio Wednesday
I'm going to hold out hope that the Sox make a move by Friday. Then they enter the winter meetings hoping to finalize another move. I expect two moves done by the end of the meetings.

Ya, was a founding father of this country. But I figured the Phillies would own the rights to him Otherwise their is no Ben Franklin that I can find in the Yankees farm system.

Steroids
Borchard isn't juicing. He's much too smart to do something like that. Only two players I would consider on the Sox and thats Jose Valentin and Billy Koch. But Jose really hasn't had much of a difference in size and I'd hope he'd be smarter then that. I guess Uribe and Davis are big guys too, but I'd like to think its all natural. I'd be pissed if I saw some Sox caught up in this, but on the most part I think they are a clean team.

ESPN 1000 - Talk Baseball
Would the Yanks give the Sox an arm or a bat? I highly doubt they would get Tom Gordon, but maybe Felix Rodriguez was acquired to send in a deal. Could the Sox get a n arm from the Dbacks or a bat from the Dbacks. The problem to me is their isn't much that intrigues me on either team, but a power arm for the pen would be awfully nice. I highly doubt Gonzo would be a part of a package, although I'm sure the Dbacks wouldn't mind moving his contract. They have two young catchers in Juan Brito and Koyie Hill. Could the Sox somehow get Dioner Navarro, whom so many people seem so high on? Or Paul Quantrill. You got to imagine cash is being sent along. For those saying Vazquez isn't an AL pitcher. Just remember his first half splits of 10-5, 3.57 ERA, but 19 homers allowed. No secret their, he gives up long balls. The question to me has to be his health or what bad habit he got into mechanically. This guy has been a horse a long time and the concerned part of me says he could be due for a serious injury.

Rumors thread
I agree, however LOTS of cash could even things out. For example if the Yanks sent like 15 mill over to the Sox. Or since the Dbacks are picking up Troy Glaus, it means one of Hilly or Chad Tracy is available.
