  1. This is a huge step forward. The people in Iraq will not fully trust the Americans until they know that there is no way that Saddam or his sons will be back. I think one of the biggest things is they fear that the US will just walk out and that Saddam will be back in power eventually.
  2. I agree. I definately think Dunn should be moving to AAA pretty quick. He's been in AA for a while now. Meaux is just up there so I'd guess he would finish the season there. I could also see someone like pacheco or Cotts get promoted if Diaz is one of the guys dealt and Pacheco isn't dealt. If you see Pacheco and Diaz get dealt. I'd think that Cotts would move up to AAA with Honel moving up to AA and potentially Heath Phillips or Frankie Fransisco (IF not traded) moving up as well.
  3. Well getting Wunsch back will be huge cause i trust him and in all honesty I still trust Koch. If somehow he got fixed, then we'd have 4 guys I trust. White is really coming around so you could even argue 5. Still until they prove it, right now we got 2 guys that I trust.
  4. I think right now if I were the Sox I'd be talking to him about a 3 yr 18 mill deal with option years and incentivies that could push the package to like 3 yr 25 mill. Even throw in an incentive that if he wins the Cy Young he gets like a 3 mill bonus (meaning you pay him 9 mill that year). I love deals with incentives cause it means if the guy plays good, he gets paid fairly and if he play like crap he gets paid less and at a more fair rate. I'd also give Buehrle his contract around 5 mill over 5 years guaranteed (total of 25 mill) with incentives that could push it around 30-35 Mill. Then if Loaiza keeps pitching, talk to him about a 3 year deal. Unless a pitcher is really young, I don't think its wise giving big long term deals to starting pitchers. I do agree a rotation of Colon, Buehrle, Loiaza, Garland and insert #5 here would be damn good. Flip Flop Colon/Loiaza but always have Buehrle in between. In the 5 hole I'd love it if Cotts were ready or if Wright could dominate.
  5. Wolves get Sprewell for Terrell Brandon Van Horn is sent to the Knicks 76ers get Big Dog Hawks get Brandon 76ers GM says the deal is almost official. This is a great move by the TWolves as long as Sprewell has a good attitude. They add Cassel, Olowakandi and Sprewell to go with Wally and Garnett. I know everyone talks about the Lakers amazing offseason and how they got two hall of famers and Brian Cook, but in my opinion the Twolves are having as good of one if not a better one. They are my sleeper pick to win it all this year.
  6. Sanders for sure. You could see Glover go elsewhere with Wright coming up. Sox may just leave Wright in AAA until September. From what I saw of Wright his mechanics are really screwed up compared to what they were last year (not that they were amazing last year) but I never remembered him being as herky jerky as he is this year. I think they want him to get straightened out and you could even see them convert him to a closer down in the minors, but I doubt it. If the Sox sign another starter or two this offseason (Or Reup with Colon) then I could definately see Wright moving to the closers slot.
  7. I doubt the Sox will deal Bartolo. They know no matter what they'll get 2 draft picks for him. Now if the right call comes in and the Sox can get a younger ace or two for him then sure they'd make the deal. I just don't see them giving up on this season, so the players acquired would have to be able to help the Sox compete this year and in years to come.
  8. Thats fine with me, but I do have confidence in Dave Sanders. I think the big thing with him is he hasnt' been used much and I doubt he'll get used all that much down the stretch unless he starts putting good performance after good performance together. I think Sanders and Munoz will be fixtures in the pen starting next season. Hopefully Wunsch can get things together, give him another week down there. Once Wunsch is back I think you'll see Wright come back up and we'd insert him into the pen. Him and Porzio could kind of mix around and do a couple of things.
  9. Here are Valentine's numbers. 1-3 with a 5.13 ERA. In 37 games he has pitched 47.1 innings. He's given up just 43 hits while walking 32 and striking out 46. Blanton is a stud prospect so I don't know why they'd give up a stud prospect for Escobar. But if it gets them in the playoffs yet again and potentially deeper in the playoffs, then its worth the good prospect cause the A's would maybe get another boost in revenue which could lead to a higher payroll. You'd think with all this winning that they've done that more fans would show up. I know their stadium is awful bad, but still, they have been pretty damn good for a few years now.
  10. Well if she said that then she'd be pressed for filing a false police report and all that stuff or at least I think thats what would happen. If thats the case then the radio station I heard about here wavering is full of crap cause there would be no point of her wavering cause she has no options and the only thing that could happen is her getting busted for making false accuasations. Just heard on ESPN that the case won't be settled till next year.
  11. IT would of been a lot different if Jerry was willing to take on some salary. I think the big thing was this was probably one of the only options where the Sox could acquire the player without adding salary, something Reinsdorf wasn't willing to do. If the Sox only had the Rangers pay half of his salary, they could of probably got it done for someone like Ginter and another prospect or so.
  12. It isn't great, but its definately improvement. Day game during the middle of the week you wouldn't figure all that many to be there, especially against Cleveland. I stick to my guns that if the Sox win the fans will come and JR will make a fortune.
  13. Ya, hopefully he'll be bald as it gets in a few more days.
  14. I'm assuming it will be Marte to close it out. I'd guess that if there is any trouble Koch will be coming in. I think they'll give Gordon the day off.
  15. Sox just need to take care of business and keep taking care of business one game at a time. Right now they still have todays game to play.

    Colon

If the Sox were to blow things up, I could guarantee the Sox could rebuild their rotation with Ainsworth, Foppert, and Boffner for Gordon and Colon. Giants would become front runners to win it all (IMO) and Sox would get guys that could help them this year and then in many years to come. Not saying they should blow things up, Sox have till the 27th for me to lay my verdict on that They may be winning now, but I've had confidence in them in the past when they get on a hot streak. They need to clobber the Jays and the Mariners and such. Actually they just need to start clobbering everyone
  17. Well now you might as well have Marte finish the game. Sox need to win this one

    Attendence

Vince, Where is the one of Iowa destroying Michigan last year
  19. He warmed up twice yesterday and pitched a couple of the games against the Tigers, there is absolutely no reason to bring him in when you have a fresh Koch in the pen. Plus Toronto crushes Koch so you'd want to use him today.

    Colon

I would demand Ainsworth and Foppert. I guarantee they'd do it to. Throw in a reliever like Wunsch if they ask for more. I know they'd do it if you gave up Gordon (They could use a closer).
