MLB COVID-19 outbreaks: None of as Sept 18
This - or just state, we will go into a temporary freeze, pause season for 2-3 days, test all of the players, than based upon those findings either extend the delay and/or get back on the playing field with a plan to make up some of the lost games (either extending season by a few days or a week or adding in some double-headers along the way).

This is what I don't get - how would you not have had contingency plans for if things hit the fan. That is just staggering to me for a business the size of MLB.

MLB COVID-19 outbreaks: None of as Sept 18
I would think the league would have been prepared for this and known you might have potential 1-2 week stoppages along the season to ensure everything can get contained and controlled. That said, this happening so fast has to put increased pressure on everything, especially with the delays of the testing. First and foremost, I would expect to see a lot more mandatory distancing between players (since i saw a lot of high fives etc during at least the Sox series).

Pretty worried about Lopez.

NFL Thread 2019-2020
Steep price to pay for a safety. Adams is really good, but I never like giving up 2 1st round picks. On the other side, Bears traded Shaheen to the Dolphins for a conditional 6th round pick. Presume one of the conditions has to be health so probably low odds Bears given Shaheen's 1st 3 years with the club.

SOXTALK Discord Server?
What is a discord server? Don’t know what it is - do not on the horizon but If it is something cool that the users want I’m always game to make enhancements (presuming no to minimal cost since this site is a labor of love!)

Opening Day Game Thread: Twins @ White Sox, 7:10 PM CT
It is fun to be excited about baseball again - this team may not be the best but they are going to be fun and after the 2010-2019 era this is a nice change to be fired up for white Sox baseball again!

Time to put up a crooked number of our own

Yeah - I had been lulled into forgetting about all my concerns of team d. Madrigal will help but Nicky in RF - no good either.

Yeah - I remember this defense. Still I like this teams bounce back ability. Twins hitters are legit though - battling a ton too.

2019-2020 Official NBA Thread
Jimmy was 100% happy and ready to stay. He was blindsided when the Bulls shipped him out. Now whether the Bulls wanted to supermax him, that is another story.

2019-2020 Official NBA Thread
Lavine is about the only player I think on the Bulls who is actually worth anything (plus Wendell). The more I think about how Lauri dissapeared I am more ready to ship him out and while I like White's attitude and hustle, he's more Ben Gordon than anything else. I think Lavine is signed to a reasonable contract, works hard, and while he has his flaws, has the elite athleticism that can make him even better - plus he has legitimate gotten better each year he has been in Chicago. I'm very curious to see what the new front office does around the roster and what choices they make. If I ran the team - I might think about trading a lot of guys to either accumulate picks and/or leverage them to get a topline player looking to make a move. I should caveat - I don't mind the other guys, but none of them are "special" talents, imo and I don't think any of them have that ability either. Really wish they took a path where they really built around Buckets (as crazy as he is, the dude was good and could have recruited).

16 Team Playoffs in 2020 Agreed Upon
Yeah - I think the one miss they had was preventing a bye for the upper echelon teams. Not fair if you were the best team all season and you get knocked out in a fluky 3 game set.

16 Team Playoffs in 2020 Agreed Upon
I legitimately wonder if the 162 game season is the real relic in this and whether we end up with more of a ~100 game season with expanded playoffs in the future. Keep importance of regular season, but with more urgency - with added post-season excitement.

Juan Soto out Opening Day with COVID-19
Yeah - they are playing apart from each other and doing things outdoors, etc. Risks are still pretty low, even if a player had it. Non existent, no, but that was never going to be the case anyway. All of the sports are assuming people are going to get it, but they are trying to manage it as quick as possible to prevent the entire team or mass parts of the team from getting it. Football & Basketball have a ton more contact and much more activity with multiple parties in very tight spaces, so that is a whole nother story.

16 Team Playoffs in 2020 Agreed Upon
In a 162 game season - selectivity is important, otherwise that long season is an utter waste of time. In a 60 game season, expanding the playoffs makes total sense.

NFL Thread 2019-2020
I got the breaking news on my phone while I was on a call - and I was like seriously - that is the name they permanently selected - before realizing it was temporary.

T-Mobile Free MLB.TV
No - they are both seperate (MLB & Athletic). You just go into your tmobile tuesday app, click save on the MLB TV one, than hit redeem and either set-up a new account (if you didn't have one previously) or apply it to your existing account by loggin in. Super simple. If you want athletic - you do the same thing, but for the athletic sign-up. I am curious if Tmobile will do free athletic again next year or if this was more of a one-time deal because the MLB TV was cheaper (so they had a bit more funds to apply for athletic).

T-Mobile Free MLB.TV
Its why I'm debating actually getting the athletic. I know I'll forget and while the athletic is great, I don't like have an auto renewed anything. Just got my mlb again though - so at least I can watch these last few spring training games before the regular season kicks off. Super fired up - especially since I can put it in the background while I work from home.

Is there a good place to watch this (if you are an out of market viewer)?

WhiteSox @ Cubs | 7.19.20 | 7:05PM
The beauty is - this is exactly what good teams look like, they actually have depth. They will have guys who surprise (good and bad), guys who get injured and in the case of this team, right now you have Madrigal, Vaughn, Collins all guys who could step up and potentially contribute in a big way. And with COVID, depth is even more important because it is less than if, but when. Also really nice having someone like Leury who can play almost anywhere on the field.

T-Mobile Free MLB.TV
Actually - pretty awesome - looks like tomorrow they will post it and you get MLB.TV for free plus a subscription to the athletic for free. Stoked. https://www.t-mobile.com/mlb
