He makes too much money as it is. I always thought the Sox overpaid him. 4.5 mill for crap is a bad investment. It could be worse, it could be 8 mill over 2 more years for Konerko.
-
This pitching staff is one of the best in the majors. That why I can't stand for the Sox to stand pat for so long.
-
No he isn't, but he is the only one that is stinking at all aspects of the game in my mind. You could also say that Konerko is as well as he has been sub par defensively this year and I think everyone has heard me say we should move him. I won't lay off Jose because people are always making excuses for reasons we should let him be our starter and he is not an acceptable shortstop on a team that is going to win the series. No team will win with a shortstop that can't hit and boots routine balls or throws them away. I could care less if he can make the spectacular play if he boots so many routine plays. Alex Gonzalez of the Cubs is way better then Jose. That should say something right there. I don't think Gonzalez is very good either and he is far superior defensively to Jose. Shorstop, catcher and centerfield are 3 positions where it really helps to have great defensive players. Behind the plate we have one, in center we have been lost, but Borchard is really good defensively and has a gun. Jose has none of those aspects. His 25 homers do not make up for his atrocious defense because he is not a consistent player. If he hit a consistent .265 I wouldn't complain as much. But he hits .220 for an entire season and then has one month where he hits good.

Well Cooper better not be going anywhere. I don't really have that many problems with the staff so to speak, but with the head skipper who claims he is a small ball manager, yet he never puts on hit and runs and its why this team has hit into so many dp's. A good manager wouldn't sit and wait for the dp's they would do things to shorten the swing and prevent dp's, like stolen bases, bunts, and hit and runs.
-
How is he clutch, the numbers don't show that this season. I look at his avg, it stinks. His career avg stinks, his career numbers stink and his errors stink.
-
I'll give Jose a bit of credit today, he had a stolen base and a hit. He was the one who helped manufacture a run. He also made a horrible play on a fly ball that led to a run. Wasn't ruled an error, but if he makes a good read he gets to that ball and the Sox never go to extra innings.
-
The team has fought back a few times lately. Now I happen to like both Knotts and the other guy that beat us. I think they are both pretty solid pitchers, but we should of scored runs.
-
I've noticed a few really good commercials from other teams. I also like the Sox one with the husband and wife talking about how he left his son's wedding to watch the Sox game. Still, I think the best commercials involve the players in a way where the fans can get to know the more.

Not until after I did
-
I didn't understand it, especially after Sparks made Konerko look so bad earlier in the count. Obviously they did it because they wanted the force out or that would be my guess.

I still hope Manuel gets axed before this 14 game roadtrip and fly Backman up to Toronto. I believed that when this easy portion of teh schedule came, was the perfect time to fire the manager and go with a new guy where he'd be put in an easier position. Hell of a win by the Sox, but I can't overlook the fact that once again the team played like s*** with runners on. Also, once again got to give the pen and Danny Wright credit. Well everyone but Wunsch.

Damn Straight, and who said he'd win it
-
I CALLED IT Joe Freaking Crede, game winning 3 run homer
-
This is odd. No way in hell would I pitch around Konerko. I like Crede much more in this situation. He is very comfortable going opposite field and I got a good feeling about this. Also, I tend to agree with Cerb, bunting there would be nice, but I don't bunt with him because Magglio has been crushing it and you expect him to go oppo field and hard. Like I say, Rios is in, that dp gets broken up.
-
I didn't know that Cooper called most decisions about the pitching. Makes sense, but I think we need to start stretching these guys out a little. I guess though I would have rather seen Glover than White at this point in the game. 24 pitches is a ton for a reliever. If its someone like White or Glover that are more long term, every few day guys than it makes sense, but Marte is used almost every day so if you pitch him 50 pitches, you shut him down for 3 days otherwise you risk injury. You can tell things changed when Nardi left. Pitchers started staying out there longer. Hell, notice how Colon threw 130 pitches his last outing, you know that never happened with Manuel/Nardi in there. Nice High Throw and Graffy is on 2nd on the error by Munson.
-
This is another mistake in my book, not pinch running. Rios is a much better runner and a better shot at going first to 3rd as well as a better shot at breaking up that double play that Magglio just hit into.
-
They will all be swinging for the fences trying to be the hero. Well I at least expect Frank to. Hell, Frank rips a single. Now we have Maggs and Graffy up. I like our chances if we stay out of a double play. Also, sox should pinch run with Rios.
-
There have been a few others like not running with the knuckleballer, but its been alright.
-
He threw 24 pitches and is used almost every day there is nothing you can do. Very rarely do I ever complain about Manuels use of pitchers. Lately he has only used White once the Sox are getting hammered and White was the only one I ever really disagreed with him using. I have always disagreed with manuel's way of running an offense. In regards to pitchers, I also must add that it isn't Manuel doing this, but Cooper. From everything I've read, it is cooper that handles 90% of all decisions with the pitchers . When they come out, etc.

You don't know how much I love Olivo as a player.
-
Surprised at the high avg against Glover. He has better stuff than that. That was a hell of a play by Jimenez. Who says he doesn't have range. Would of been one of the best plays I've seen all season from any team if they completed it.
-
For me to be creative I'd have to start picking the other teams players
-
Damn it, I swore they were going to biff that. I couldn't tell who was up in the pen, but my guess would be Glover is coming in and he'll be in for a while as long as the game keeps going. Still, like I say, one inning at a time.
-
Your damn straight. It got me jumping around the house. Now if only we get a hit, then I'll really show some emotion, lol.
-
That first pitch was one if Joe stayed back just a bit it would of been over.
