"I'm somewhat concerned"
Jim, that makes way too much sense for this organization.

"I'm somewhat concerned"
JM should of said, "To Say I'm somewhat concerned would be an understatement. This team isn't lifeless but they aren't producing. I can't blame myself, and I can't blame an individual player. This is a team effort, I'm part of the team and were all failing to do our jobs. If something doesn't change we'll all be out of work, and I'm gonna start by stepping down as manager of the Chicago White Sox. I hate to do it, but this team needs a spark and I have had no such luck. I love these guys and I love the experience I got here, but I just haven't gotten the job done"

"It Isn't Early Anymore!"
Right now there is no way I sit Daubach, every time he is up he is hitting the ball hard. You don't bench guys like that. What does JM know about that though, he benches Jimenez one of our best hitters against lefties while letting Jose, who absolutely sucks against lefties (and righties in my mind), face them.

Can the Sox buyout Thomas's contract at the end of the season? They really need to start things over - A BIT. Keep Magglio, Olivo, Jimenez, Crede, and Borchard around offensively. Keep Marte, Glover, Wright (if he can prove himself), Buehrle, Garland (If he can prove himself), Colon, Loiaza (This is a tough one though; If he is dominating at his salary he could be the most valuable player in the majors when it comes to trade bait and you have to wonder if he will keep it up). If in a month he is still dominating, I have no doubt that the Sox could get any teams top prospect and still more. Colon could do the same thing. I don't want to see Colon go cause he's an absolute horse. In my mind Colon goes if the Sox want to use next year as a rebuilding year and then spend money that offseason. If they want to dump guys and cut money now and then use that money to replace players in the offseason then you should sign colon. Then mix in some of the youngsters like Miles, Rauch, etc and give them all a shot over the rest of the year and see what they can do. I guarantee we could and some top notch talent for some of these guys. Carlos still could get something valuable while Konerko is very hard to trade, but tradeable if the Sox take on a contract (Contract for Contract type thing). Thomas is immovable unless he picks it up. Thomas just hit a bomb - JUST Foul. If he picks it up then the Sox MUST move him. I love Frank, but he's not the fit for this offense. I'm sick of having slow immovable objects offensively and its time to use the DH right as a way to rest players and play role playing type guys while going with matchups.

Saturday tailgaters
Right now the Sox have two things they could do. They could make some serious changes hoping to jump start the team while also trying to cut some payroll allowing the Sox to sign Colon to a long term deal NOW. Or they could sit still and hope this listless offense turns things around. I'm young so I haven't seen as much baseball as some, but I can't remember a team having such a bad offense for so long and just turning it on during that same year without any changes made. This doesn't have speed to make up for slumps and thats why this team isn't built for the long haul. Fast teams that play defense stay out of losing streaks and in turn can play .500 ball when terrible, and when they are good they can absolutely dominate. Plus in the playoffs, when your up against the very best you have to manufacture, play defense and pitch to win. The Sox can do the pitching (I strongly believe that), but they lack the offense and speed to make up for it. We saw what the 2000 offense did in the playoffs and they were way quicker then this offense. Ray was fast, Jose was way faster then he is now, plus Singleton had speed. I guess it wasn't really much faster, but the Sox were much more agressive then. Williams needs to start making moves. Billy Bean wouldn't wait and he's one of the few gms that I've noticed that isn't afraid to shake things up when they aren't working. Also, I have to say that I am now turning to the firing of both Williams and Manuel. I think Williams did a good job this past season, BUT, blame has to be given for the Sox failing as much as they have. I think Manuel and Williams should share in the blame and both take the fall. Then some serious changes need to be made immediately because these guys getting fired isn't going to be what it takes to fire this club up. This club isn't playing without heart, they are just playing like crap, and you play like crap for 2 months and your a crappy team in my book. Slumps only last so long, if it goes over a certain period its a trend, not a slump. To fix that trend, you make a change.

Question for the Jose Fans
When are his offensive numbers going to be too low for him not to make up his shoddy defense? Right as I said that he actually got a hit, his 999th of his career. Only reason I'm asking is because he always stinks offensively, yet people always talk about how good he is. People can say we won in 2000 with him, but that means nothing. Like we wouldn't of won in 2000 with a good shortstop not named Jose. Heck, we would of won with pretty much anyone at shortstop. How can people defend a guy that never has had a high obp in his career, strikes out a lot and can't hit lefties whatsoever yet Manuel continues to play him against lefties while sitting Jimenez (Hitting well over .300 against lefties). I'm sorry, I tried to stick and root for Jose this year, but he stinks. I've never seen one thing good about him other then his high avg with runners on base and this year thats far from happening. This guy is getting paid 4.5 million to play crappy offense while not being able to hit over .250 People always talked about how Royce would have terrible starts, yet last season I do recall Royce outhitting Jose for a while (Not sure if it finished that way) and that wasn't really all that late in the season when that was happening. I remember it happening relatively early. Again this year Jose is doing the same after a good week and a half to start the season. Who gives a DAMN what kind of a leader he is, He ISN'T a starter. He played for the Brewers and Sox those are hardly winning teams, so how is this guy a winner? He may have a great attitude but there are plenty of guys out there that have a great attitude and produce. Heck, why not let Graffy be the regular shortstop and see what he can do. He isn't worse then Jose defensively and he actually draws walk and has a high obp. Now I don't think Graffy can keep that up over a full season, but he's still a way better option then Jose. Why can't the Sox be more agressive, see things like this and move Jimenez to short and give Miles a shot. People can say thats a stupid thing to do, but as far as I'm concerned Jose isn't doing a damn thing anyway, so why not see if Miles can do something. If Miles can be productive and I know Jimenez is productive then the Sox would have a rather formidable 1-2 punch. Now I'm far from saying Jose is the only problem, cause one guy doesn't sink an offense, but he's a big part of the equation just as Konerko, Thomas (To a lesser extent; Even though his numbers suck he's one of the best on the team right now), Carlos, and anyone playing center (Not including Borchard). I could give a damn about what Olivo, Crede and Borchard do because you CAN"T count on things from rookies. You ask for them to play good defense and improve. I've seen plenty of improvement from Crede and Olivo and both are stellar defensively. They do things right where they can make up for their shoddy offensive performances by playing good in the field. Jose can't do that, Konerko can't do that, Carlos is damn well trying to do that, while Frank can't do it and Magglio (Although dissapointing is coming on strong as of late). You want to know whats wrong with this team, there is a lot, but lets stop forgetting that Jose makes a ton of mistakes defensively and can't hit his weight. Look at his numbers and the only thing impressive is the power and avg with runnesr in scoring position. Fact is I don't think that makes up for his crappy defense and absolute hole at the plate avg as well as the fact that he has a terrible obp and usually has just that.

WE FUCKING SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!
Mario, just know that my dad is telling me to tell you he said the Cubs would be doing better then the Sox. He is laughing at me everyday about it going you better tell him

carlos beaned in the head!!
The Sox looked fine too, hitting into yet another doubleplay. Maybe they should do pushups everytime they hit into a doubleplay?

Fucking Embarassing
Send 90 percent to the doc brotha........ Guess we'd better get a convoy of padded trucks filled with straight jackets to SoxNet's headquarters, eh? Hey, if your implying I'm nuts then, then - ahh shucks, free padding, how could I refuse. It could come in handy for that dumbass that tried pulling a jackass stunt jumping into the pool from a hundred or so feet high.
-
carlos beaned in the head!!
My friends thought I was a jackass to say that, but I am so sick of this crap ass offense. Maybe Lee getting beaned will wake them up.

carlos beaned in the head!!
Well as long as he's healthy, on the bright side it means we have the leadoff man aboard.

Damn, I thought Daubach was going to get a double on that one.

It was good seeing Borch catch that fly ball in center. I sure hope he can just start growing at the majors and get things figured out.
-
Crazy idea!
I disagree with Olivo being the fastest. I think Borchard is the fastest on the team. From what I've heard he isn't much slower then Willie Harris. Which is why I'd really like to see the Sox let him run a whole heck of a lot.
-
Line-Up/Game Thread for Tiggers vs. Sox 5-24
As usual Sox did a hell of a job taking advantage of a leadoff hit.

Borchard singles and then advances to 2nd on a wild pitch. Good agressive base running by Borchard. So with two outs and Jimenez up the Sox have a shot to tie the game up.

Rios
He has been struggling lately and I think Manuel wanted to give Harris a shot and now he will want to give Borchard a shot.

Trade with D'Backs?
Someone mentioned Steve Finley. I'd package up some players for Finley and Miguel Batista in a heartbeat. Kill 3 birds with 2 stones(LH power, CFer, more starting pitching). If we could somehow talk a team like Baltimore into taking Konerko, that would be great. The Dbacks would give Finley away for nothing as long as you paid his salary. As far as Miguel Bastista, I don't think he's that good of a pitcher and I believe we have a better answer in Jon Rauch or even Josh Stewart.

Fucking Embarassing
Have you been smoking something? LOL Probably won't happen. I just said it would be sweet s*** if it happened. Well if the Dodgers keep over working him he may not be pitching in a few more weeks. I have no problem pitching a guy everyday, but Gagne has went like 6 or 7 straight games. The Dodgers need him, but they better give him some rests. No pitchers arm can take that type of pressure over a full season.
