  1. Right now, its my personel opinion that Williams isn't going anywhere. He is going to be here for a while and I'm not upset against that.
  2. They got a whole lot of negotiating to do. If they cut the draft down to 20 rounds, then I would think those teams that pay their scouts the most would really dominate the free agent market. I mean whose to say who gets signed. One team could basically sign all the best late round picks and everyone else gets hosed if its fewer rounds. I'm a fan of the nice long drafts in baseball because of all the positions needed to be filled, etc.
  3. I don't think it was intentional. I think the reason the Sox went back was because of the sheer number of times Maggs was hit in the series as well as PK. Usually you aren't aiming at a guy with a 95 mph fastball, but I could be wrong.
  4. Series Preview: Minnesota Twins By Alex Ernst May 16, 2003 SoxNet.net The Minnesota Twins have been on one heck of a roll. They have won 12 of their last 15 games and have put themselves back into the race for the AL Central. Opponent: Minnesota Twins Record: 22-18, .550, 2.5 GB (AL Central) Place: Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome Time & TV: Game 1: 7:05 pm (FSN); Game 2: 6:05 pm (WGN); Game 3: 1:05 pm (FSN) 2002 Record vs Sox: 11-8 2003 Record vs Sox: 1-2 THE LATEST The Twins have been unstoppable at the plate, bringing to this series a team batting average of .272, while the pitching staff holds the opposition to a .241 average. They are led by Jacque Jones and his .338 batting average, but he is nursing a quadricep injury, leaving him questionable. The bats have also been red-hot this last week with an average over .300, while the staff has a combined ERA of 4.03. Twins pitcher Kyle Lohse is the only starter with an ERA under 4.50. The bullpen has been near the top of the American League and the Majors with an ERA of 2.65. WHO'S HOT (Last 7 days) Todd Sears, 1B: .333, 2 HR, 6 RBI, .833 SLG --A left-handed rookie with fewer than 20 games under his belt has exploded with a dynamite week, hitting two homers, including a walk-off homer against the AL Central leading Kansas City Royals. WHO'S NOT (Last 7 days) Torii Hunter, CF: .160, 4 hits in 25 at-bats, 2 CS, 2 GIDP --Hunter has been underachieving this year, with an average struggling to stay over .200. This trend has continued as Hunter has been disappearing at the plate, and when he gets on base. However, he has managed to score three of the seven times he’s been on base in the last seven days. PITCHING PROBABLES Game #1: Mark Buehrle (2-6, 3.86, 25 K) vs. Brad Radke (4-3, 5.85, 27 K) --Brad Radke has been up and down so far this year. While usually one of Minnesota’s more dependable starters, he has given up 11 homers so far, with an equal number of walks. However, Radke has settled down as of late, winning his last three starts. Game #2: Jon Garland (2-3, 6.88, 18 K) vs. Joe Mays (3-3, 5.83, 23 K) --Joe Mays has also had an up-and-down year, but was lights out against the Sox in his only start against them this year. He pitched seven strong innings, only giving up four hits, of which one was a homer. Game #3: Esteban Loaiza (7-1, 2.05, 45 K) vs. Kyle Lohse (3-3, 3.27, 40 K) --Kyle Lohse has been the Twins ace so far this year. In his eight starts, he’s held opponents to two or fewer earned runs six times. He also has the highest strikeout numbers of the Minnesota starters in this series. Opponents are only batting .219 off of Lohse. KEYS TO THE SERIES #1 - Get an early lead. For the most part this year, when the Twins starters have been scored on early in the game, it leads to more runs the rest of the way. Plus, the Twins bullpen has been masterful so far this year. #2 - Quiet the Twins' bats. If starter Mark Buehrle can get out of the first three innings of his start without any damage, the Sox should be in a good position to win. With Jacque Jones possibly out with an injury, it hinders Minnesota somewhat at the plate, so the Sox starters need to take advantage of this. #3 - A steady bullpen. The Sox need to get quality work out of the bullpen like they did in the Baltimore series. Minnesota is hitting at a .328 clip in close and late situations, so scoreless relief from Gordon, Koch, White and company is important to keep the Twins from coming back when the game is on the line.

    GO SPURS!!

I can't wait till I go to school tomorrow and notice that not one person will have a damn Laker flag in their car. Oh where oh where have the Laker Flags gone?
  6. None of them could out run Willie Gault (Not even now). He still runs the 40 at about 4 exactly.
  7. SOX WIN 8-2 and we get the SWEEP. Now head to the Twinkie dome, looking to keep up the hot streak with Buehlre going up against Radke tomorrow. Hell of a game Sox. Colon looked great, offense is looking better and better and pitching was good.
  8. LOL. Sad thing is that isn't much better then PK as of now, but PK had a nice double today.
  9. Yes I am. Guzman is as fast as it gets. Well Castillo and Chone Figgins may be faster.
  10. Yes, he's still in the game. I'm assuming he'll pitch the eighth. Come on Magglio (2-2 Count) and its ripped into center. Gets by Mora and everyone will score. Magglio has a triple. 6-2 White Sox.
  11. Jimenez screwed up, but he had a hell of an at bat. I think the Sox should work on the bunt with Jimenez. I can't remember ever seeing him bunt. Frank Thomas is now up. 1 - Ball 2 - Ball 3 - Ball 4 - Strike 5 - Swings at a high fastball (Would of been ball 4) 6 - Walk (Sox now lead)
  12. Jose (I think he swung at the first pitch) 2nd - Pulls back and its a ball 3rd - Pulls back and its a ball 4th - Pulls back and its a ball (All of the pitches have been high) 5th - Bunts it foul; Now its a full count 6th - Jose fouls it over to the first base side, just over the Orioles dugout (Runners not going) 7th - Jose draws the walk, loading the bases for the Big Hurt Frank Thomas with nobody out. Willis Roberts will come in for the Orioles to replace BJ Ryan who walked the only batter he faced.
  13. During the Cubs game today Chip made a comment, thats the Royce we knew and loved on the Southside (As he struck out - he got out and I'm pretty sure it was whiff). It was something along those lines.
  14. Goodwin is still pretty damn fast. I may have Byrnes on that list and I think Luis Castillo and Juan Pierre are definately on there as well and of course Christian Guzman.
  15. -Harris gets aboard (Sorry was watching laker game, not sure how) -Jimenez is up (He better be bunting or hit and run). 1st Pitch - Jimenez pulls back - Ball 1 2nd Pitch - Jimenez squares and pulls back for a strike 3rd Pitch - Jimenez tries bunting on a high pitch, bunts it off himself foul 4th Pitch - Jimenez fouls it off on the first base side 5th Pitch - Jimenez flips one foul into the seats on the 3rd base side 6th Pitch - Jimenez fouls it off down first base side 7th Pitch - Jimenez takes a pitch that dips well low 8th Pitch - Jimenez takes a curve that goes into the dirt; Full Count 9th Pitch - Jimenez fouls it off down first base line (Harris was running) 10th Pitch - Jimenez takes an inside fastball (Close Pitch, but it was a ball) and he draws the walk -Jose is stepping up and the Orioles will make a pitching change. Ponson is replaced with the lefty BJ Ryan (that would be my guess); Jose should be bunting this at bat. If he's swinging, then I'd have Graffy up there.
  16. Top of the 7th -David Segui man pops out -Conine strikes out on a changeup (5th K of the game) It was a great pitch that dipped down below the knees -Gibbons gets out somehow. I zoned out.
  17. In the bottom of the 6th Konerko got on board with one out, but Lee, Crede and Olivo got out. I'm pretty sure it was Konerko that got on.
  18. Ponson should be losing. The Sox have hit him, of course they haven't been able to get the key it (LIKE USUAL). Although I'm still pissed about that play mora made, but the Sox got to just get over that and score 5 or 6 runs.
  19. I think we will see Rios quite a bit more in the Twins series. The Sox are gonna have to be playing though cause its going to be a huge series. First they have to score some more runs and sweep the Orioles.
  20. You don't know how happy I was when big MO left Anaheim. I still remember being at opening day when he fell in the dugout. I made a typical smarkass remark saying, sprained ankle, he's done for the year. Turns out he pretty much was . Whenever you have a lot of weight, any top of leg/knee/ankle injury is almost impossible to overcome.
  21. Since you waited till the end of the credits too, let me ask you this, didn't it seem like that movie employed an entire city. Geeze, the damn credits took an hour or so it seemed.
