  1. I sense that the days are twindling for both Manuel and White. I can see a move happening for either of them on Friday. Heres a question who goes first? Will it be White to get released/traded or will Manuel be canned first?
  2. Shapiro did a heck of a job. They may be playing like crap right now, but they are going to be pretty good.
  3. Not saying I agree with ya, but it definately sounds like the JR way. You don't spend a time and now JR knows he'll have at least one fan in favor of it. I just think this team is in need of some serious retooling. The question is if they start retooling can the team be saved. Like I have said in the past, I can't think back of a team that completely retooled a club (With 2 to 3 trades) during the season and was able to pick themselves up. Beane seems like the type of manager willing to do it, and he semi did it, but without a major move and it was pretty easy for him knowing he's gonna get the pitching. This team needs to get faster, better defensively and more balanced. Rotation wise and bullpen I still like it, but White has worn out his welcome. Use him as an extra player in a deal. To me I think the Red Sox would have some serious interest in Flash Gordon and if we package him with Konerko we could get some serious help. I'd love to get Nixon and I'd love it even more if they could lure Freddy Sanchez and Nixon out of Beantown. Then bring Almonte up instead of Flash. Trade Jose Valentin to San Diego for Ramon Vazquez (At least make an offer for it - IF you can't get Sanchez). Most will ream me on that idea but I think Vazquez could have a bright future. If we have a shortstop, then we can either keep him and just use him in a utility role and have him play some DH or trade him for bullpen help. I'd like to bring Kyle Farnsworth in from the northside, I'm convinced the Cubs are going to have to move one of their relievers and he's the one they will move and I think his value is down and I really trust Cooper to make a few minor adjustments. We still have some strong guys in the pen, but will have to count on some younger arms, but I love and trust Coop. Defense is way better, offense is much less one dimensional. Vazquez and Nixon can steal and now Daubach can play almost everyday. The big thing I think of is shed some salary because we got to think like JR and I know one thing I don't want Colon going anywhere, so shed some money here and there and find a way to give him his contract. Losing Jose and Konerko would easily be more then enough to sign Colon and Buehrle long term.
  4. I hope that was a joke Michelle cause Nixon is one of the more heads up players in the majors as is Larry Walker, the last player I can remember to make that kind of mistake. Damn, wheres Baggs when you need him; I know he was with me last year when I was pushing a Nixon trade. I think at that time it involved Konerko or Lee and then a reliever.
  5. Heh. Maybe that was a bit harsh -- Sox rage syndrome is infecting me. then direct your issues to the right people.... call jr and give him hell.......... Give me Reinsdorfs or someone higher ups number and I'll be glad to call them and give them a little advice. I'll list some players that I think have talent and help do their job
  6. Well, I'm usually in agreement with Phil and as always I think he's right on the money. Think, have I not been calling for this things for a while. I think that the next step would be to find a shortstop candidate and then platoon Jose at DH and let him play the infield on ocassions and of course NEVER have him face a LEFTY. I am loving my Nixon for Konerko deal, but I also doubt that the Red Sox would do it, unless we threw in a pitcher of some sort to help their pen (Which is improving). I'd just love to get them to take the salary off the hook and Nixon is a type of player this team could really use. I also think that Manuel can sense the end and he is trying anything and everything to get things righted. Its just nothing is working. I don't blame him whatsoever, but sometimes you just have to make a change to try and see if a new approach can do something to change the team. Backman or V, fine by me. It was interesting to here everyones comments on a hitting coach midseason. I also think that one of those guys (I forget the name, but the guy on the left that didn't play baseball) should of shutup in terms of Walker fails in his first day. He was probably joking but what the hell is a coach going to change in a day. It will take at the minimum two weeks or so before you start noticing some changes and we can only hope they are for the better. Interesting how Valentine said having one of his coaches fired midseason pissed him off. I doubt this is the case with Manuel, cause if i think back Ward was always KW's guy. My theory is let the damn manager hire his coaches, if you can't trust him with that then you can't trust him with the team, imo.
  7. Well theres Ryan Wing, Bullard, Arnie Munoz and I know I'm missing a few others.

    Hey Matthew

Family Guy rules. I'm finally on Disc 2 of the Family Guy DVD. Also WU, went to the Padre game yesterday and finally tried one of those hot dogs at Randy Jones bbq and they are the best hotdog I ever had at a ball game. Too bad the Pads lost yesterday. I was dissapointed in the size of the crowd.

    Happy BDAy

Happy Birthday. Damn, there sure are a ton of May birthdays.
  10. The Twins fan got his word in, he's going back to dealing with the Twins and we all will go back to worrying about the Sox Now if only the Sox would start whooping *ss
  11. Can't say too much about him other then he needs to move up a level. At 25 he's way too old for that level. He is a lefty though and he appears to have good control so I guess there is a chance, but I don't think he would be able to make it with this organization, it would have to be via a trade. There are just so many good left handed relief arms in this system.
  12. Red Sox don't have much prospects what-so-ever other then Freddy Sanchez, an infield prospect. If we could get Trot Nixon for Paul Konerko, I'd call it a done deal. The Sox free up salary room and get a guy that can play any outfield position and adds a lefthanded bat. Then Carlos Lee moves to 1st and we have an outfield of Daubach/Rios, Nixon, and Magglio. Or we could have Lee stay in the outfield with Daubach at first. The lineup would be Jimenez Nixon Frank Magglio Daubach Carlos Lee Jose Crede Catcher If possible I'd love to then swing a deal with Jose Valentin and try to pick up a speedy, talented middle infielder (Preferably a Shortstop). Hell, I love the idea of Nixon for Konerko.
  13. I wouldn't trade Marte for any of them. I'd be willing to give them Flash (even though I really like them) and Konerko for Nick Johnson and the Sox could take on some salary even necessary.
  14. Lol, I've never been a Jose backer and thats well documented. I tried giving him a shot and he still plays like crap. He can't hit a damn curveball and his avg flounders around .250. You can't hit for avg, and your arguably the worse defensive shortstop in the majors (Starting Wise). I don't see a big benefit in playing him. Sometimes people have to forget about their general likes and dislikes of a player and just look at production. Thats what I try to do. Konerko is my favorite player on the Sox, but I'm very much a believer that he should be traded because the Sox overpaid him and well, I fear he could turn into a long term DL type guy and thats not what the Sox need. Find another team looking to up their payroll or add some power while they move into a new park or something along those lines. Heck, the Pirates could use a first baseman right? I doubt we could get Giles with that type of deal but I'm sure they have some good prospects.
  15. Daubach just needs playing time. Watching him lately his swing has been looking real sharp. I want him to become the starter somewhere, the problem is we aren't moving Konerko nor are we moving Thomas or Lee. I really believe this team has to make a few changes to become way more fundementally sound and in turn win it all.
  16. I don't want Jose because a team doesn't win the world series with a crappy defense. I could give a damn about being mediocre, mediocre sucks. Its about time the Sox won the series and they aren't going to do it with players that aren't fundementally sound. I'm not saying Miles is a better option, I personally don't think the Sox have any in house replacements for shortstop (At least not for a couple years) which means they should get a trade together for one. You don't use all your prospects to develop, plenty of times you let another team develop them for you to get more help in the short run. I'd still love to of done that Rollins for Jose and Rauch trade or whatever it was. I doubt we could get Rollins, but a good shortstop would be really nice. One guy I like a bit is Ramon Vazquez and I don't think he would be that tough to get. I really think we could get a package together for Vazquez and Klesko or Kotsay including Lee or Konerko and Jose and maybe a prospect.
  17. I'd rather have Singleton in center and Jimenez and Miles in the infield then having Jose in all honesty. I can't stand piss poor defense and Jose sucks out there. Tell me Jimenez sucks out there, but he will always be a way better defensive player and offensive player then Jose.
  18. How he a winner? Winners do the little things and playing defense is the biggest little thing there is.
  19. Never been to the club level in Comiskey, but at Anaheims I've been there about twice when given free tickets and the thing I think is nicest is you have access to the restaurant up there (I'm assuming its the same at Comiskey) and then personally I like sitting up from a bit cause you tend to get a better perspective.
  20. The Sox lost a game because of defense while the Twins won a game because of great defense (Ie, Hunters catch)
  21. I'd take Depodesta as well. He learned under Beane and is very well respected. I still believe in about 15 years or so, I'll be a candidate
  22. Thanks for the update Jim. Its great to see things are picking up in Birmingham and Congrats on your first win of this season. I'm sure it feels great to get that first one of the year.
  23. I've given up on the reason so many can't stand Jimenez. People talk about how pathetic he is in the field, yet he's a million times better out there then Jose.
