The Sox won't get Redman because the Tigers are asking for a top prospect and then another decent to good prospect. I'd do it if we gave up something like Ginter and Miles or something, but I know that isn't going to happen. Plus, I'd just as well have Omar Daal or some other solid free agent pitcher.

Morningweg is a good oc though. Oh ya, damn good game for Dez White. Way to go Dez.

Stinking Michigan. Now my hopes of an Iowa Notre Dame national title game are ruined.

The big difference is with Lee they get a guy that can play in the field if need be, as well as a guy that is younger and doesn't have a hole bunch of years on a contract and money owed to him. Plus he had his best season of his career last year and showed signs of learning the strike zone, which could set him up in position to be one of MLB's breakout players in 2003. Of course Thomas is going to be in position to be MLB's Comeback player of the year. If the Sox dump Thomas, look for a free agent signing of a pitcher by the end of the month. Thats just my opinion. Then the Sox will definately sign a backup outfielder that could play center and left. This would also give Borchard a job, so whoever starts the season their is just a placeholder.

well we can guess which one takes cf next season.......
Chisoxfn replied to a topic in Pale Hose Talk
They will probably make a push at someone like Orlando Palmerio, Alex Ochoa or Todd Hollandsworth as a backup plan, but don't expect that to happen until January. The Sox will sit back and be patient. This isn't a big spending time so they should be able to pick up a couple quality roll players for cheap. -
Plus, I'd rather have Mj as the backup then Paul. MJ is a better catcher behind the plate and thats what you want out of a backup. Speed wise we'll already have Willie Harris on the bench and probably another outfielder so they won't need Josh Paul. Olivo is entering spring training as the starting catcher. Its his job to lose and I like that mentality. The kids going to get his shot. As will Jimenez and Crede. Borchard would, but he's obviously not ready. I'm just hoping Rauch will, the guy is going to have a great rookie season.

Since they get to play 20 games in Puerto Rico(?) they now feel they will make enough money where they aren't forced into cutting salary.

Paul Konerko is one of the best first baseman in the league. Every year he puts up better numbers and he's a team leader. He's a great run producer and as Heather said is truly selfless. Defensively Konerko is above average as well. To me the best first baseman in baseball is Scott Spiezo when it comes to defense, but Konerko is one of the better ones. He has a great arm, can make the picks and is solid in general at fielding the ball. His range is weak, but thats why he's playing first. Speed wise he kills me. I'd like to see Konerko get more walks next year, and increase the power numbers, avg, and rbi's a bit more. I really think he's a completely player and he's got a great frame of mind. Of course, I don't think he's a 7 mill a year guy. I think 5 mill a year would of been a much better price. Still, I won't complain giving the team leader an extra 2 million a year, plus he's an outstanding citizen and member of the Sox.

Miles is way too old and will probably never make the Sox roster. Hummell is a guy thats hit and hit and hit with the exception of this past season. I wouldn't give up on this kid. I'm with Cerb if Harris was playing great, I'd deal him, but so far that hasn't been the case and I want all the options available for next year cause I don't want to see the sox resign Manos.

Its no problem. Anyway, here's this weeks picks. Patriots Titans Falcons Bears Jaguars Chargers Saints Jets Steelers Rams Chiefs Raiders Packers Giants Broncos Niners

I don't have a complete article. All I know is these players have to be questioning going back home during the offseason if their life is going to be in danger. A friend of mines grandpa was in Columbia and he was robbed and had a heart attack and died right their on the spot. Its sad what happens in some countries.

I know one thing. He will be nothing special in the NFL. The guy will be a bit better then Chris Wienke. I smell a good backup.
-
IT would be a great pickup. I'd try converting him to a power reliever.

Ya, It got all screwed up when I fixed the boards yet again. I don't know whats going on, but I know they are working properly at least. Pisses me off that I had to screw up.
-
Its got to be Kingsbury or Banks. I can't see it going to anyone else, unless Carson Palmer has two more huge games, then he could sneak in their. Otherwise, it would be a joke if Dorsey won it.
-
That would be the smartest way to do it. Unfortunately JR won't spend the money. I wish and hope he would, but he doesn't want to lose money nor does he seem all that serious about winning a world series. Of course, I am hoping we can get one stud pitcher. I want Rauch as our #5 anyway. I may be the only one, but that kid is ready.
-
Michelle, can I send you some fuzzy dice if the Sox end up getting Colon? Or maybe we should just wait and you could send me some 2003 World Series Tickets, cause its a coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:metal

Yep, thats exactly it. The thing is, KW's just as good of a scout as Schueler, in my mind. The only difference is Schueler is a better guy, or at least thats how its percieved. I can't honestly say whats true or not becuase a lot of the time things get out in the news that just aren't true and people have to deal with raps their entire lifes because of it. If you don't know the person or haven't talked to the person, then imo, its difficult to judge him on how good of a person he is.
-
Konerko was getting the money either way. I still say the Sox gave him about 2 million a year too much, but ehh, Konerko is a great player. As far as Thomas's money goes, it hasn't been given to anyone cause Thomas is most likely coming back. He hasn't gotten any offers from anyone and so far no team is really interested in him.

Murcielago's new personal graphic thread.......
Chisoxfn replied to MurcieOne's topic in Soxtalk Classics
Hey Mark Cy Young Porzio would like a personal graphic. He asked for one here, but the back end of this thread was all messed up for some reason so I cleaned it up. Messed up meaning it was looking all weird. -
Check the post again. I added that to the bottom of it. If you want Mark(Murcielago to make you one) go into Club Murcielago and put in a request. He makes custom graphics. It typically takes him a week or so depending on how busy he is. Otherwise you can just surf the net for a photo you want to use.

Baseball is a great thing. I can sit down and if the Sox are playing and just watch the game non stop. I know the players and I really understand the gameplan and such. I know baseball like I know no other sport. Its fun trying to think of what the manager should do, and then second guess them. Their are just so many things they can call: hit and run, sac bunt, drag bunt, squeeze, straight steal as well as all the bullpen changes, intentional walks, etc. Plus its damn fun to play.
