  1. Lyman was playing damn good too. The hell with Baxter. I like Davis, Lyman and I like this new guy Gilmore. He's a rookie out of Penn State whose pretty good. Damn, this is the 2nd time Lymans torn the ACL too, it could be career threatening cause its hard to come back from that surgery multiple times.
  2. Thats for sure. Personaly I say good riddance to Thomas, I hope we trade his sorry ass for a second round pick and draft a good running back. We'll all see Leon Johnson and Adrian Peterson do something decent on the ground. Thomas has terrible vision and runs way too upright. Plus, how many f***ing times is he going to catch the ball wide open and then do his best James Allen jump and jig impression and end up getting stopped short of the first time. Take advantage of Thomas's name and go draft someone good.
  3. what'd he say? Michelle was the one who informed us of the deal that was going to go down. She reported it and then Soxnet reported it on the main page as well. Many didn't buy into it because they didn't find it on the main stream sites, but hey, chalk this up as a win for the smaller sites. I guess many at other sites ripped into the rumor, but hey, thats their perogative and I think we all know Michelle was right!!!
  4. Damn..thats interesting, but also a great move for them, big time. Dan Evans blows.
  5. I'd just like the mention the only reason they are named ptbnl is that you can't deal a minor league player that isn't on your 40 man roster until late December because Minor League Rosters are frozen. That means that this guys could be real good prospects, they could be AAA and then again they could be terrible prospects in Rookie ball, but just cause its a ptbnl, it doesn't mean they stink, thats just the case during regular season trades. Man, I can't wait for the Winter Meetings cause I think thats when the next deal goes down, the one that gets us our starter.
  6. Damn it, I wish I had a Chicago radio feed out here in Cali. Thats real cool that you got to go on their Cerb.
  7. I'm with you. Reason being, the Dodgers gave up two serviceable players for one really crappy player and I think dollar wise the deal is about the same for both teams. Mark is a decent 2nd baseman or shortstop and has plenty of versatility. If you look at his offensive numbers, minus this season, you'll see that the guy is a very good hitting infielder and an everyday player. Then look at Karros and he's a serviceable first baseman, nothing special, but he does a good job, and when healthy he's pretty good.

    Preach on Cerb, Preach On

Valentine probably will turn out like most minor league relievers do, and thats into nothing special. We have so much depth we can afford to give it up, especially since we are getting two PTBNL in return. I like this deal any way we look at it, I'll love it if we get something good in return as the PTBNL.
  10. Plus we have another hard throwing righty Gary Majewski who I always mention every time people say we moved JB for nothing. This guy has great stuff, to me better stuff the Joe Valentine and when he suceeds in AAA next year, and eventually makes it to the show, we'll see why Joe was dealt, plus, Koch is a stud. Some people are saying we'll be getting some decent prospects in return too. I simply love Koch so I like this deal. We were going to lose Foulke at the end of the year and no way would we ever of gotten this kind of value for him midseason. Who would think we could get a closer whose just about to enter the prime of his career and will be a Sox for the next 3 years.
  11. Great move by both teams. I don't know where Karros will fit. I suspect that the Cubs will move him. Still Grudzilanek is a decent 2nd baseman. The Cubs took on payroll and so did the Dodgers. The Dodgers always did like Hundley though, he produced very well for him there.
  12. I'm definately ready to hear a preview of your show. I know Gary(Cy Young Porzio) and I are ready excited to go on the air waves eventually. This station will kick some serious ass.
  13. Man, I'm so excited about this deal. Ya we gave up Valentine, but like I've always said, I don't care about minor league relievers, especially when you have a plethora of them. This move is awesome, especially if we get two decent prospects in return. I think we all now know the reason Valentine was shut down in the AFL. The Sox must of been ready to move him then or at least considering it and they knew if he continued to stink it up he'd lose his value quick. Next off we dumped MJ, and I know many said hey we knew what we had with him, but in him we had a bum. I don't like to know we have a guy that hits .210 from the left side. Thats pathetic especially when you don't have a good arm either. I'll take Josh Paul and a .250 avg that I know he could put up. Greg, I remember you talking about how you liked Paul, this at least gives him the shot to be the Sox backup catcher, although I love the idea of picking up Kreuter. Still, Koch is a stud reliever whose actually going to be here for the next 3 years. Foulke would be gone after this year and if we dealt him midseason we would never of been able to get a proven major league closer in return, especially one thats only 27 and is just about ready to enter the prime of his career. Great move KW GREAT MOVE :metal

Hell ya, its all about a nice double double...yumm.
  15. Corg and many others wander over here at times. We always like having more Sox fans over here, cause it adds to the discussion.

Cool.. For all I know the deal isn't going to happen anymore, but if it does, all I can say is I'll be happy. If it doesn't, I won't be dissapointed. Foulke is great as is Koch, I Just like the fact we'd have Koch for 3 years compared to Foulke for just one year. Still the important part is we land a starting pitcher. Enjoy that last week in Miami cali.
  17. I don't mind Bere, I'd just rather bring back someone like JB at the league minimum. Still, I want Daal or Byrd.
  18. I will continue to disagree with this notion Baggs. Our bullpen is better the most. We have a great closer in Foulke or if we get Koch. We also have solid set up men in Marte, Osuna, and Glover. I can't think of many teams with quality guys like Marte, Osuna and Glover in the pen. We also have a very good lefty specialist in Kelly Wunsch, and then may eventually have room for one of our younger relieving prospects like Edwin Almonte, Joe Valentine, Chris Sanders, Munoz, etc. The key is for Foulke to rejuvenate himself as the closer, something I don't doubt whatsoever. Whether its Foulke or Koch, I love this bullpen.

The great thing is that isn't necessary Heather. We already have great starting pitching in the minors. Felix Diaz, Jon Rauch, Kris Honel, etc. When you mix that with Garland, Buerhle, and Wright(if you believe in Wright) that gives 3 young starters already and about 4 more very very talented ones developing, well more then 4 of them, but I'd assume no more then 4 actually get a shot with the Sox cause once the rotation fills, they will work on developing new younger pitchers as the other pitchers grow and mold.

I think we all can agree that its time for a playoff system. The heck with conference winners, just straight up the Top 10 Teams with a mixture of computer polls, strenght of schedule and the AP and ESPN polls. Then two teams get the bye or however that works out.
  21. GO TO HELL MICHIGAN STATE!!!! I thought we were friends. I may have to totally reconsider cheering for Illinois State. Don't worry Vince, I already have Of course the fact that I almost went to Michigan State to college probably wouldn't help. Then again, I almost went to Michigan too. It was between those two school and Washington and then I said the hell with it all, since I didn't get no scholarship and ended up going local. Ya, Go Cal State Fullerton Baseball...Its the only sport were good at.
  22. Oh he knows Gary. It will be when the station opens up. We aren't quite sure when yet, but don't worry, I'll tell ya right when I know.

I realize they lost to Uconn, but at the time Iowa played them Iowa state was playing Top 10 football and had beaten some quality teams.
  24. People have implied that they will make a push at Kent because Baker is their and Kent has stated he wants to play for Dusty. The only substantial stuff I've heard is they have talked with the expos for Vidro and Vazquez and they seem to be interestd in Pudge, but only if they can move Hundley. They also have been rumored to possibly make a push at Blalock.
