  1. I think Gant is expecting to get decent money this year after having some sucess with the Padres, or at least thats what I've heard on the Padres radio station. The Pads want to have him back, but they don't want to give him more then a mill. I definately want Hollandsworth. I saw that guy play many a times with the Dodgers and he's a very good hitter, and a solid defensive player that can play any outfield position as well as first base. The guy has a great attitude as well and hustles. He's one of the more under-rated players in the majors and if he's ever healthy and starting a full season he would put up shockingly good numbers.
  2. Typically PTBNL aren't top prospects and if they are a more talented prospects, they are likely injured and the reason they are named Later is because you can't really deal and injured player or most teams don't like to do so. I'm guessing the A's will possibly ask for one of the relievers we acquired from Boston in the Howry deal. Neither of them were super talented and we have a stockpile of relief talent so I'm assuming one reliever not named Ring, Sanders, Almonte or Valentine is the player to be named later.
  3. You need a certain % of the vote. I'm not really sure how the entire voting system works, it seems like Spiff has that covered. Anyway, I'm guessing Sandberg may make it, but not sure, and Santo may get voted in by the Veterans commitee.
  4. One thing about Phillips is I love the way he always hustled, plus he had the coolest batting stance.
  5. Its coming from Michelle and she knows her stuff so I'm with her 100% on this. Michelle is one of the smartest baseball fans I know, and a huge huge Sox fan. I may disagree with her on a lot of stuff, mainly because we look at things differently, ie she's much more of a realist then me because she's in the city while I get the news from farther away. Still, HSC knows her stuff so I definately believe this is possible. Hopefully it happens as long as its not a top prospect we are giving up. I can live with giving up Porzio or Ginter but no one good.
  6. Too bad Rdub is such a lazy piece of crap that he wasn't concerned about helping his man out and lay a block. If that happened we had a touchdown. Judging from the review on the fumble it didn't look like the ball ever hit Miller's hand.
  7. It doesn't look like the fumble was his fault. I can't blame Jim, this guy is one of the gutsiest players I've ever seen. The guy can't do much when he can't throw the ball past 10 yds though and thats got to be where the coaching staff steps in and says hey Jim, you've been a stud, but your not healthy, get healthy and ready for next year, where you can groom or drafted qb.

They gave Frank the money when he was younger. They gave Ray Ray the money when he was younger. They now have given PK the money. They gave Maggs the money and they gave Foulke the money.

  10. Yes he's up for arbitration, but you can only have your salary increase by a certain amount each year.

If I remember right, they changed the plans of reworking the draft, aka the compensation and everything and are going to work it out this offseason or the next offseason, although they do expect to allow the trading of draft picks.
  12. First off, I don't think you can really compare the careers of Mike Daar to Daryl Kile. Both of them had tragic endings and hopefully they are resting in peace, but Kile was a much more productive player in the majors. Is he a hall of famer? Nope and he isn't going to get put into the hall either. They are just waving his eligibility, but I ensure you they won't put him in.

As an Irish fan I expected this, and as a Carson Palmer fan, I'm proud to see how good he's becoming. Now hopefully he can develop and turn into a stud qb for the Bears.
  14. Wasn't Big Frank hung out to dry a time or two by the great one Wavin Wally, the worst friggin 3b coach I ever saw? Now that I think about it, thats exactly what happened. Frank was hung out to dry by a mile thanks to waving Wally, not as much in thanks to his poor baserunning. Thomas is decent, not as bad as Lee.

Is he just waiting for arbitration or is he technically a free agent? I thought Parque and Ritchie are the only two remaining Sox that were abritration eligible which would lead me to believe Paul is still with the Sox.

Trust me, the only reason he was signed when he was, was because the Sox had the intention of moving him elsewhere. Otherwise they would of just waited, its not like he would of won big bucks in arbirtration.

I'm thinking that they may end up moving Foulke for someone else of need, quite possibly. That or they are looking for a guy that becomes a free agent at the end of the year for some reason. For some reason I think they really want MJ as their starting catcher, and then they get a closer with similar ablility as Koch in return. Man i hope we aren't giving up a decent prospect.

I agree absolutely. I am not as much concerned about who plays for us right now as opposed to whether who we have can play the game. I'd like to know that we had some good teaching and coaching going on. The base running blunders last year, the last two years, have been horrendous. We've blown a bunch of games on some stupid mistakes. Thats for sure. Luckily I think that Willie Harris, Jimenez and Crede are all pretty smart and sound fundemental players. I think the White Sox are grooming their players to be more sound now, instead of lookig for just all the tools and no smarts, they look for a mixture of both.

Awesome Roman. I was hoping I fixed it when I made some minor changes to the coding yesterday afternoon. IT took me a long time, but now its finally done, lol!!
  20. Sorry Mike, but I don't see Thomas being better. Man he was terrible for a stretch on the bases last season, just like Carlos. I think I'll call them even dumbasses on the basepaths.

Thank you Mike. I don't understand the sudden love for Mark Johnson. I have watched many games and he is nothing special behind the plate. He doesn't have a great arm, and he's only decent at blocking the balls. I know Paul is worse, but how much worse, not that much to me. Plus, Paul can bunt, and handle a bat pretty well himself. Still, I'd love to see them bring in a veteran backstup for 500 k or so.
  22. Jose will be gone because the Sox will look to move Jimenez to short, if he produces this upcoming season, like I know he will. Then the options will be Harris or Hummel at 2nd, but the Sox will definately look for a backup plan in the infield. Maybe that plan will be Jose, I sure hope not, because I'd love to bring in a better, more effecient defensive shortstop. I'd love Matsui next year, but that ain't going to happen unless the Sox really draw this year.
  23. Koch is only 27 and has a nasty fastball and a good secondary pitch. I can't remember if its the slider or a curve, but its a pretty good one. Upside wise, Koch has quite a bit since this will only be his 5th year at the major league level. Of course Foulke is great himself, but Koch has the better arm, not that it means much because Foulke has been amazing for the Sox. Me, I like the deal as long as it isn't a great minor leaguer.
  24. Hey Jason..... think that Aaron Harang has anything to do with this? remember there were earlier talks about a deal involving him Nope, becuase i don't really buy much into the earlier talks. This is for Koch, not Harang. Plus, they can't afford to give up any starters right now.
  25. I say bring on Joe, let Maggs play, then lock up Lee for 2 to 3 more years where he can play in left on ocassions as well as DH. He's a pretty solid player and their ain't many dh's that aren't that good out their. Plus, the Sox will likely be finding a new infielder after next season as Valentin will be gone, so that is already one questionmark, and they may not have Rowand in center with someone else replacing him, which would be the second question mark, and then Borchard would be in the outfield as a 3rd questionmark, and I'd hate to see a 4th as the DH.
