Well, whose the centerfielder? Would you guys do Johnson and Rowand? Of course if they want a centerfielder that must mean Long is on the way out. I thought it was Johnson and a prospect. Of course we don't have any centerfield prospects, so who knows.
-
Well, I for one like it. Add signing Todd Hollandsworth in their and you have made me happy. I'd also be willing to throw in another prospect like Adkins or Ginter to get the Colon deal done.

Did anyone else see this movie? I thought this was a weird movie and I now know why Eminem is so screwed up. The movie was good, but geeze, all the stuff he had to see, damn. The best parts were his battles though, damn they were funny. I will say this, the guy was a decent actor, but how hard can it be to act your own life. I bet they make a sequel to this cause its making a fortune at the box office.

Just freakin great. He has to pick the Bulls for when he comes back. Doesn't he realize we don't have Brad Miller anymore. Man oh Man.
-
Seriously, if Jauron doesn't have confidence in him then why's he on the team? I thought the whole point of having him is because he is capable and if we don't think he is, then why don't we go and use someone else?

Well I'm going off of Gammons rumors for the Lidle for Johnson stuff. I don't know why it would happen, but hey if the A's are that foolish then so be it. As far as Pierre, he's on the move to the Marlins except the deal is likely to be nixed and they aren't getting a leadoff hitter in return. I know the Rockies have given up on Pierre or they have someone else to play their because Uribe is who they want to leadoff.
-
You all are right and I'm a big Rowand supporter, but if we could get a speedy say left handed hitter that would fit in the two hole that would be great. Of course Pierre is a righty and I'm not really sure whose out their and available that wouldn't cost much to acquire.
-
Ya, I'm familiar with them. Go to a few Padres games a year. The thing I liked about Perez was the fact he really showed his skills at the major league level. Padres got some great prospects, especially when it comes to power hitters and pitchers. I think their GM, Kevin Towers, is one of the best in the business. Of course he is actually considering going with Royce Clayton at shortstop.
-
Perez is a stud lefthander.

Went to the site, but I couldn't see anything mentioning Royce. I do see they are desperate for a catcher, so maybe they'd be interested in giving us Brian Lawrence or Vazquez in return for Mark Johnson. If we got Lawrence we'd have to give up a bit more then Johnson, but if they are in a bind, it could be good thinking.

Lol, I love talking politics, but sometimes I just try to stay out of it. I can only get so mad so often.
-
Finally, it looks like people are getting a bit more optimistic. Whatever happens I think we only need to lock the new guy up for about 2-3 years unless we get someone like Colon or Vazquez and in their case I'd go longterm.
-
I wouldn't. The deal just doesn't solve anything, imo. The Sox need a proven pitcher. I'll take Rauch on the mound and just go with him. Lets get a proven guy, nothing but a proven guy. Plus I don't want all of Wilson's strikeouts. He's the strikeout queen behind Jose Hernandez.
-
The Sox will do that Mario. They need to add that solid pitcher this year. Me, I'll take Byrd over Moyer, thats just me. Mainly cause I don't want Moyer to a 2 year deal...way too risky in my book considering he's moving from a top defensive club to the Sox and the fact that last season was a career year for him. His numbers have to get a bit worse on the simple fact he had his best year ever, which is odd for his age, and secondly on the fact that he is a ground ball pitcher and will be playing with Manos at short...That has to add half a run a game, lol.
-
No, I suggested Rowand for Pierre. The Rocks used to be fascinated with Aaron, hopefully it hasn't changed. Pierre would be an awesome #2 hitter behind Jimenez. We would have massive speed at the top of the order, two good bunters and then the power. Of course in the 9 hole I'd eventually like to see Wee Willie as Manos moves to the bench and Jimenez moves to the two slot, but Willie hasn't shown me anything other then speed and hustle yet, but its a start.

I'd take the under for the simple reason that I got a feeling either Hummell or Harris steps up and the Sox eventually move Jimenez over to short.

Maybe Matsui ISN'T a lock to end up in New York?
Chisoxfn replied to doubleM23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ya, of course I can't blame him. If it comes down to spending 10 mill on a pitcher or 10 mill on a centerfielder, I'd rather have the pitcher, considering the fact our offense is already good. Still, I am intrigued at the thought of adding him. I'd still rather wait and pick up the shorstop named Matsui that comes out next year and sign the pitcher this year. Boy am I dreaming -
Vazquez is a great pitcher and would probably be a wiser pickup if the Expos are asking for way too much for Colon. Maybe we could acquire Vazquez without giving up a Rauch or Honel and they could settle for someone like Malone or Diaz and Almonte plus of course other prospects. As far as free agent pitchers go, Paul Byrd is the one that I'd like to sign the most. I just like the way he pitches. Of course, I think a power pitcher could really help give our rotation some balance, cause we don't really have any strike out pitchers on the staff.

Great point Michelle and Ventura. I forget that Schu wants to interview for the Orioles job and he will definately bring Frank in. Of course I like the guy they had playing first last season(A rookie, his name isn't coming to me right now) but he also can play outfield. Frank would be a good fit for the O's, who actually had a pretty solid season last year. I don't know how they did it, but they managed to.
-
And a lot of the time it heats up and puts a giant hole through his bat. He's just about as streaky a hitter as Royce, with one exception, when Manos is on he's hitting homers and doubles. Royce typically was hitting singles to opposite field. He couldn't pull the ball for the life of him.

Welcome Aboard Ventura fan!!!!!

I know one thing, Liefer for Pierre ain't happening. Although I am starting to think their is some validity to this MJ deal. Why else would the Sox sign him to a contract? The only logic I see behind it is to speed up the process. I mean he's aribtration eligible and he wasn't going to get some big increase or anything. Personally I'd love this move simply cause it means Olivo is our guy.

I kind of think Thomas likes the idea of playing in Baltimores small park. I am happy if Thomas is here, and I can live if he goes.

Hopefully I'll be rolling out a new chatroom by then, but I don't promise anything. The one that is their works good, but I always shoot for excellence, and I always stall when it comes to that goal. Anyway, looking forward to the chat.

I always have noticed Jr pays his youngsters fairly and is willing to lock them up. I tend to agree with abozichiu that 12 mill is fair. Typically before you are an unrestricted free agent you will make less. I also do know the Sox toyed with Buerhle last year, but it isn't the typical way they treat their youngsters. To me they are actually one of the best organizations of giving their younger players fair contracts, keeping them happy. They did it with Frank, Ray, Maggs, Pk....
