  1. Way I see it; Keeping Jay means we can at least be in contention for possible playoff spot before season starts. Given where we pick, any other direction we would have headed would have pretty much been a 2-3 win team, imo. I wouldn't be surprised if Jay plays better this upcoming year and we still move in another direction, but Jay's contract becomes more cap manageable going forward and if he can repair some of that reputation you could actually be talking about a decent asset. I have more faith in this staff than any staff the Bears have had in a long time. I also like the methodical approach they've taken to FA.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) I don't care if it is Spring training.. 6 hits in a row is impressive. His approach at the plate is also impressive. He is going to have his ups and downs as he is still young and raw, but he's a really good 2B prospect.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 03:56 PM) Rams only get that 2nd round pick if Bradford is the start, I believe, so I presume they won't actually be giving that pick up. But man, I'd have traded Jay for Foles and a 2nd rounder, haha. Or not. Evidently they get 2nd rounder no matter what, but get a conditional pick back depending on certain circumstances (i.e, how much Bradford plays). What a coup for the Rams. They get the better QB and better draft picks. WTH.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) Oh my, that Files trade was AWFUL. Eagles get a fourth but give up a fifth and a 2016 2nd round pick. Unbelievable. I would have guessed you could get Bradford for a second alone. Rams only get that 2nd round pick if Bradford is the start, I believe, so I presume they won't actually be giving that pick up. But man, I'd have traded Jay for Foles and a 2nd rounder, haha.
  5. Aaron Leming ‏@AaronLemingNFL · 3m3 minutes ago Was also just told earlier today regarding Safeties that #Bears and Rahim Moore do not share "mutual interest".
  6. Aaron Leming ‏@AaronLemingNFL · 5m5 minutes ago Was told last month, #Bears new coaching staff identified S Da'Norris Searcy as their top S target. Won't go down w/o a fight
  7. Cecil Lammey ‏@CecilLammey 3m3 minutes ago The TE market heating up, expect some surprises once new league year begins. Virgil Green choosing between #Broncos & #Bears #NFLFreeAgency
  8. Josina Anderson ‏@JosinaAnderson 1m1 minute ago Source: I'm told Da'Norris Searcy's camp is "still in active talks with the Chiefs and the Bears along with the Titans at this hour."
  9. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) He doesnt like the Viking? What was wrong with them? It is the oven. It doesn't heat properly. Repair guy has been out like 3 seperate times and tells him how it is a pretty common problem and recommended that he returned them and get another brand, haha. No issues with the stove or the other stuff. To be frank, I would think it would be hard to screw up a stove, as long as the gas works and has a clean burn and you are okay with the looks, I can't imagine major differences in performance (obviously you want whatever specs you want in terms of burner size, oven size, btu's, etc).
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 09:20 AM) I like Bosch too...ultimately, we'll have to work with a contractor to determine what options are available as far as the overall remodel, and see how much we can set aside for appliances. That will ultimately determine which direction we go. I would really like to splurge a bit on the range, but we'll see. If I were to tell you to get one thing from Bosch, it would be the diswasher. Cleans like a million bucks and is so damn quiet. On a sidenote, my dad just got a Viking set (stove, oven and microwave...I think it was about 4K after contractors discounts, etc) and hates them (in fact he's in process of returning them). Says they are the biggest pieces of junk he's ever owned (he was upgrading from 15 year old JennAir or GE appliances). Like I said, I got lucky, mine was about $1K for all 3 after my discount, haha.
  11. Shack, we have bosch appliances. My friend used to work for Bosch, which allowed me to get it at like 80% off, haha, but really like it. Nothing super fancy, basically stainless steel 5 burner gas oven and range, above hood stainless microwave and than the dishwasher (which is unbelievable).
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 10, 2015 -> 07:39 AM) Should have a decent system in place in 2015. The fact is, if the system is nice, the Bears offense can be pretty good with Cutler at QB even making his typical mistakes. The kissing up to Cutler is over. I can't stand the guy, but I'm am positive the Bears can win games with him at QB. They have before. He is paid way too much without a doubt, but the "he can't win a Super Bowl" crap is crap. No QB could have brought the 2014 Bears to the playoffs. It was only a few years ago Cutler got hurt and people were upset he wouldn't return into the game. Now he sucks, he always has sucked, he always will suck. He isn't the elite guy most thought the Bears acquired when they traded for him, but he is middle of the pack. Ideally you would like your QB to be a leader, which he is not. That does hurt him, but he is still the best QB the Bears have ever had. I guess that is sad. This is a good post.
  13. I technically think it is the safest move to keep Jay around. You can make the playoffs with Jay. If you pick the wrong rookie QB, you are going to be terrible and for a long long time. I think the landscape has already changed in Chicago where Jay no longer controls the team. It is actually ran by football people (Pace & Fox) and we'll see what those guys can do with Jay. I presume they don't like the idea of being backed into a corner with no Jay and really no top notch QB prospects available to them (odds of Mariotta falling are slim and anyone else in this draft is a pretty big project and even Mariotta / Winston are still projects themselves).
  14. @PaulKuharskyNFL With apologies to those certain of something else, the #Titans are not trading for Jay Cutler. ESPN 1000 ‏@ESPN1000 29m29 minutes ago According to @ESPNChiBears on @WaddleandSilvy, Jay Cutler was in the building last week working with Adam Gase and the new playbook.
  15. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 07:48 AM) Mine has increased 10+% each of the last two years.. And I have 5% co-insurance now that i never had before... Mine has also increased by similar components and that is with 2 different companies. Additionally, coverage has worsened (but still obviously meets obamacare standards). So remember, you can't just look at cost savings, you have to look at cost to benefit components as well. In my case, it would have been up significantly more had the coverage actually remained consistent.
  16. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 9, 2015 -> 01:02 PM) Adam Schefter reported back in December that because of the 25 million in guaranteed money, the Bears might have to package one of their higher round draft picks to be able trade him. That was three months ago and things may have changed, but it shows the the those guaranteed dollars weigh on a team. And right when that was reported I said it was a garbage report. I also think that will be proven correct when Cutler is ultimately moved.
  17. QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 9, 2015 -> 12:45 PM) I really have trouble gauging this whole Cutler situation. If he's moved, do the Bears immediately become the favorite for Mariota? Not unless we get the Titans pick. We might have strong interest for him, but we certainly aren't going to have him sitting their at 7.
  18. QUOTE (staxx @ Mar 9, 2015 -> 12:28 PM) Swapping 3/2s and getting rid of that contract is a huge win I think they will get more. Something like swapped 2nd's plus a 3rd or like a 2nd or 3rd round pick on its own. I still think possibility exists for swapped 1st round pick and I'm sure that is what the Bears are pushing for.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 7, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) Wouldn't the cap implications of cutting Cutler be too significant for it to make sense to do so? If they don't cut him now, than you are taking cap hits on him next year. With the amount of cap space they can get and the fact that they are cleaning house, I think it is better to get everything in order in 1 year vs. pushing the problem down the road and my presumption is Bears believe that to be the case. They can save real money by cutting him now and even the cap impacts might be muted depending on what contract he signs. Ultimately I think someone will trade for him though. I'd be very surprised if he is on the roster by the 12th. I think by that point, if he hasn't been traded, he'll be cut.
  20. They are cleaning house. Forte and Jay are next. For sure Jay. I am convinced he is traded or cut in next week.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 4, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) Sanburn? Or did Gage Gage it? Bad spelling. It was surkamp but brain wasnt working
  22. Fantastic road win for Iowa. Let's keep this streal rolling this weekend and work on enhancing seeding and keeping positive momentum rolling!!!
  23. So excited to watch the game tomorrow!!!
  24. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 3, 2015 -> 06:45 AM) I'd say it's just more mediocre, which is better than the reputation of worst city in America outside of Detroit it sometimes gets. I would stay too long or anything. The Rock and Roll HoF is worth the trip at least once. Baltimore and St. Louis are pretty awful cities too.
  25. Just crazy. Get better Jimmy Buckets.
