  1. Moon Mullin is also reporting the job is Fox's if he wants it.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 06:09 AM) Jimmy Butler stopped playing like the 5th best player in basketball briefly. It looks like Derrick might be ready to show up, but even at his best - this team is so much better with Butler at HIS best. We'll see. They were due for a tough stretch. I think it is more that we have had so many moving parts that the team still doesn't know how to play with each other and that chemistry build is going to naturally take longer when the guy who runs your offense had pretty much missed the past two seasons so he himself has his own rust in terms of running and offense, etc. that he has to lose. I'd also say that the loss of Dunleavy / McDermott forcing us to have Snell and Moore log heavy minutes isn't exactly a major advantage. I like the fact that Snell seems to be aggressive but his shot has looked bad from the outside and he is not Dunleavy.
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 10:18 PM) I don't know, I was definitely happy with his offensive game. He went to the hole and missed a few times too many in the fourth but he was hitting every thing from outside. He was really fun to watch for multiple quarters - I can't remember the last time that happened. I am thinking Noah missing a few games wouldn't be the worst. He's obviously banged up and he is either not well-enough or not-talented enough to play through it. I think getting Gibson/Mirotic regular minutes alongside Pau could help them both. We need more of Taj, imo. Noah is just so off right now. He needs to get some time off and get some mental confidence.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 07:20 AM) Obviously, Trestman was in over his head, but what is the Bears record this season if Fox and his entire Denver staff happened to be coaching them? Hard to say in a vacuum but I think they have at least 2 more wins and I wouldn't have been surprised if they were a playoff team or at least in the race up until the end. Part of that is the fact that I think Trestman was so awful and detrimental to the unit and I also think Joey D was the worst special teams coach in the league 2 consecutive years. That said there were injuries and other things that happened that you can't ignore as well. I absolutely think the Bears would have been better and by good margin with Fox and his staff.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 07:13 AM) Does a successful 60 year old guy want to coach under a 37 year old first time GM and have no power regarding the roster? Does the 37 year old new GM want to give up some of his newly acquired power to a coach that, looking at it negatively, has been canned twice? From what I heard, Pace wants to talk to Quinn, which would indicate to me, Fox isn't his perfect candidate, and Quinn probably is a longshot to coach the Bears. Who really knows? Fox might be named the new coach in 5 minutes. I think if you can't make up your mind on Fox without talking to Quinn, than that to me means you aren't all that interested in Fox or you aren't decisive enough as a GM to survive. I also think it is a very slippery slope, strategically, as you very well might get caught with your pants down. The NFL doesn't work in a vacuum and the Bears can't ignore what else is going on. It would appear Quinn is the top guy in other places, so if you are picking between Fox and Quinn and you are really high on Fox, take Fox and don't sweat Quinn. Odds are you are going to lose out on Quinn anyway as there is more headway in Atlanta and if you wait, my guess is Fox decides to take a year off as their will be ample suitors, ones with likely better rosters than the Bears, that will become available in future seasons. I'm f***ing tired of people saying, oh Fox has already proven what he is...yeah he's proven he is a good NFL coach who can win and take your team to the superbowl. He's proven that he won't be a colossal disaster. We'd be lucky if any of the coordinators turned into that yet we have a guy here who is that and we know it. To me, if the Bears pass on Fox, it has to be because they liked Austin more, because they do have a legit shot at getting him (or so it would appear). Even than, he could end up in Denver for all we know and than you are again, really left in the shorts crawling back to Marronne. Right now, I think it all comes down to can Pace / Fox see eye to eye and work well together and what sort of control does Fox want and how much does he want to get paid. I presume he wants something similar to what Jason Garrett got and the Bears are saying, well, maybe we can get Quinn or Austin and get them for the equivalent of 2 years of Fox and they end up being as good. Stupid answer and while it might work out, this is not the time in this franchise to screw this choice up. Go for the most surefire thing and that is Fox. Instant credibility and a restoration to this franchise and will provide us with some built in continuity, which ultimately is a pre-requisite to being a great organization.
  6. Weak ass performance. Lack of energy, etc. I hope this is all going to result in the team realizing that Thibbs is right and you need to stop listening to ownership and others around the league and start f***ing playing and practicing harder. I think the players are starting to realize that though and we will see them make strides. Rose had a good game but he still shot way too many outside shots. You could see the form on his shot was a heck of a lot better (largely driven from him having better lift in his legs).
  7. Waiting for Quinn would seem like a foolish decision. Either we want Fox or we don't. Need to make up the mind and you can't just sit around and wait for Quinn, imo (not when we moved as quick as we did with Fox). I also think waiting on Quinn could be a significant mistake as Fox might be irrupted and say he isn't interested (and sit out a year) with the Falcons hiring Quinn (as on paper they have the better roster). It seems that Quinn is reportedly a heavy favorite in Atlanta. It really makes little sense to me. Hire Fox or don't but if you are lukewarm on Fox and need to wait for Quinn than he probably isn't your guy anyway.
  8. @AaronLemingNFL: I've spoke with 2 separate outlets on the matter & 1 says Fox has it & other says they are waiting to have final interviews w/ Fox & Quinn
  9. He reportedly headed back to Denver without having reached terms but Bears had offered him position. SN Chicago had another report indicating the Bears' head coaching job belongs to John Fox "if he wants it."Fox's interview with Chicago went well into the evening on Wednesday night, but the two sides were unable to reach a deal.
  10. Fox is evidently headed back to Denver with a contract on the table.
  11. John Fox's interview has reportedly ended and he has left halas hall (per Jeff Dickerson). Fox is just getting dressed before they grab dinner and celebrate!
  12. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) This is my favorite move of the offseason. BA is Step one in the Kalapse sign everyone plan!
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 03:43 PM) Bryce Alford he's not, in a good way. Hilarious that Steve has been "showcasing" his son out at UCLA in hopes of getting him a pro contract. Say what you will about McCaffrey, but he was always known more as a passer (the "White Magic") as a player, and a team-oriented, shoot second type of point guard is who you generally want running your team. It is interesting, how often collegiate coaches have sons as their point guards. Lickliter as well, and his son was truly terrible from all accounts. McDermott was a coaches kid who was fantastic for his pops.
  14. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 03:22 PM) If you are so sure stop checking this thread Gage. You stop right now. Sit back and wait to read tomorrows paper. Why read tomorrow's paper when it is happening today. This is a new and improved era of Bears football!!
  15. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) We have seen the Bears botch many of hires. You shouldnt be stunned. This can get ugly and I just get this feeling it may be about to. Noway, no how.
  16. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) Quinn is going to Atlanta though! Oh this is too much! Gee Golly! Most likely but that doesn't mean Chicago doesn't try and push for him. Its all a moot point anyway as I'd be stunned if Fox isn't the next head coach of the Bears. Stunned.
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 03:15 PM) I smell this turning out to be Marrone. LOL No if it isn't Fox, it is Austin or Quinn.
  18. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) The interview has been done for a while though hasnt it? I think they are still interviewing.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) Who would be competition for Fox? Atlanta? It would appear Fox is Chicago or bust right now and it would appear Bears are smarter than a lot of thought as their was significant back channeling that took place.
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) You would think more would leak out after the interview than what has so far. Which is nothing pretty much. If they are in the midst of an interview, I wouldn't expect much to come out, since everyone is in the room together the whole time (outside of pee breaks).
  21. If Anderson came into the majors in this era (vs. when he did), I think people would value him much differently. The guy was an absolutely incredible defensive centerfielder who got jacked around like crazy by one Ozzie Guillen. Supposedly he's been working out hard and is coming in with a fantastic attitude. If he can play D and demonstrate some improvements at the plate, great, if not, no harm no foul. I can think of a lot of guys who had a lot less talent than BA.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 02:39 PM) I don't know. Clayton hasn't tweeted since the 11th. Supposedly he said this on ESPN Radio 1000.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) So must be a fake tweet? I don't have access to twitter so just put up what I read elsewhere.
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 02:36 PM) That's not on his twitter page..... So must be a fake tweet?
  25. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...igh-on-john-fox Good article with some quotes from Delhomme on Fox.
