  1. I would imagine Getz would like to have this deal made in advance of the winter meetings - as it kind of signals the start of what else might come, whether other retooling efforts and/or fully opening up more parts for potential sales. Maybe it is than at Winter Meetings where someone blows the Sox "socks" off for say a Robert.
  2. I agree - maximize now. I get it - he could improve his value with a strong 1st half of the year, however, I still think he's one year off Cy Young type season and is under control for 2 years at reasonable cost. Teams will pay for his peak or close to it now given the value in the control to a contender. Well worth getting now than taking on the injury risk and potential production risk vs. maybe getting an extra 20% more return if he were to go out and totally ball out.
  3. I really don't know what people expected. Yes, Stroud has been ridiculous this year despite limitations on that roster. Major kudos to Stroud, but lets not pretend like anyone was seeing this coming (like no one). On the inverse - Young struggling with a poor roster, not a surprise. I here people saying Panthers are doomed - they have a #1 overall pick at QB in his first year. The kid can play, albeit, his frame is small so the question is can he stand up to take the beating. I fully expect you will see Young improve in year 2 and if he is healthy he will be a good QB (I'm not saying great). The problem with Panthers is - they leveraged the farm too soon. I get selling out for a QB - but they mortgaged a lot without pieces around the QB. Although I Get it - you got to get the QB. It is basically what Bears have done forever. This upcoming draft is the first time in my lifetime that I can remember, where the team wouldn't be mortgaging anything to take a QB high (and they would also have plenty of parts around the young QB - with the only current exception being the HC). But if the Bears were to go with a QB with one of their first 2 picks, they aren't mortgaging anything, they still have another high pick for another weapon, plus have Kmet, solid running backs, solid oline (sans center), DJ Moore, and the cap space to add more weapons too.
  4. Rick Hahn would have but I am hoping Getz wouldn’t.
  5. Pat Williams only gets worse. Vuc and Derozan efficiency rates in the tubes. The Bulls need to clean house before they clean house. This is the absolute worse front office / coaching staff in the league. Lavine gets all the blame and some of it deservingly so, but him and Caruso are the only above average players on this team (maybe White as well). Pure crap around them all done by a pure crap front office. Need to fire everyone and let new front office make the trades. Don’t let this clown show front office anywhere near the tear down. This clowns thought running back a bad team with minimal upside young players was a good idea….two years in a row too. Pathetic losers.
  6. I would trade #1 pick. I am not taking a wideout at 1 no matter how generational they are.
  7. I have liked the idea of brockets and Harrison jr for a while. But with then moving down and getting a future 1st too. Don’t know if that is really possible but I think that gives any qb we have and oc a ton to work with.
  8. I see a scenario where this happen. Fields has 3 out of his last 4 games as being above average. If he can stack another 3 out of 4 above average games, than I absolutely see a scenario where you change coaching staffs but continue to basically build up the whole rest of the roster (maybe taking a QB in 2nd round or something like that). Poles does this though he has to also get a future 1st (so move down from one of their top picks) to ensure he can play that card right. It isn't an awful move at this point. Now if Fields struggles from here on out / is mediocre, than obviously you can't go that way. But I'm not going to lie - trade down at 1 - than draft a Marvin Harrison and a Dlinemen or an LT (if Braxton Jones doesn't look good) with your other pick. FA center, maybe some more money on defense and another playmaker or two plus a slew of other picks. If you squint you can see a roster, with quality draft execution - that starts to look pretty good.
  9. If you fire the coach - draft a QB or can stick with Fields (and punt on a QB for another year). If you don't fire the coach, than you can stick with Fields. I really don't see any scenario at this point, sans them basically winning out, where they don't make a move with Flus. I really would be all-in on Harbaugh if I were the Bears. And basically its up to Warren to decide whether Poles and Harbaugh could work together or not. If Harbaugh wanted to gauge Fields for a year while they wait on QB, fine, cause he's the type of guy that will be here for multiple years. In that case though - you need to do something similar to what Bears did this year - where you are trading one of our top picks for a future 1st (to ensure you have ammo to get a QB if who you have on roster doesn't pan out).
  10. Good tank loss. All the main guys played well and cowardless coaches cost em plus Scott.
  11. I was thinking the same thing.
  12. Yeah nothing better than Fields just balling out the rest of the season.
  13. It makes sense. They have bforttnarley need to cause there is no other way up. I expect a lot of guys deal - including Eloy and Yoan too. Not sure they get much though.
  14. I would love AJ though.
  15. Defense played great. Yeah it’s Bryce Young who is still finding his leg, but 6 points ignoring that special teams td.
  16. How is that not fair catch interference or a late hit or something?
  17. It looks like he is scared after what happened in 4th quarter vs Saints. And it is making him even more likely to throw picks.
  18. It looks like he is scared after what happened in 4th quarter vs Saints. And it is making him even more likely to throw picks.
  19. If they trade Eloy, go get Rhys Hoskins and take a shot you get value from him post ACL. He has ton of power, good obp and I presume will be cheaper.
  20. It is obvious one has to go at a minimum.
  21. Did he say that today - that is actually very refreshing to here. To be honest - outside of keeping Grifol, I can't really argue with much he has done since he took the job. I do recognize keeping Grifol is a huge component - but its also fair to wonder whether he had a choice in the matter anyway? I have never got the impression that JR wants to pay a mgr to not manage. Will he eventually - yes, but after one season, not unless it is an abjunct disaster (and yes '23 was a disaster - but isn't Bevington the only time he has done it in his era - thinking back to Bulls/Sox ownership)?
  22. So if Sox hired him - would we be happy. He doesn't have a ton of experience but obviously maximized his career given what I perceived as a more limited set of tools. My one caveat is - I generally lean to the school of, catchers make the best managers.
  23. This - if Bellinger's struggles were driven by health and he is able to be healthy - he very well could have a few massively productive years (his peak was well above average). With that said - his volatility of performance is massive so you could just as well get bad Bellinger and bad Bellinger is really bad. I know I wouldn't take that bet long-term - but I get that a team would. He is above average defensively, has massive power, bats from the left side, and is 28.
