QUOTE (Nokona @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 10:01 AM) HES AN APEPASERS HES GOIG TO GEIVE THEM THE EUROPES Yep. And, he's going to talk our way to greatness, because history shows THAT works. There is a middle ground, somewhere, and RSO isn't it. I'm not saying McCain is, either.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 09:10 AM) I just don't f***ing trust John McCain. One bit. I don't trust that he won't further f*** things up in the Middle East, especially in relation to Iran. I hear you, and that lingers in my mind but I also think that "talking" to them is a waste of time without the backup to "walk the talk".

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) i think it's bull**** that we have to make up a home game in their park. this game should've been madeup long before tomorrow If it's a W, I sure don't care. If we lose, then I'll agree with you... -
It'd be a pretty huge boost to win that one right away and then take the "night game"... we need that 1/2 game.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 10:02 PM) And after the last 8 years...I'd say we've earned it. Yes, I know, RSO the Messiah, the GREAT RSO, all knowing and all seeing, will fix it all for us. He's going to talk to everyone in the world, make them respect us, and gosh darn it, get us our "respectability" back, whatever the hell that is. If Europe loves him then doggoneit, we should too. There's just no hope anymore. I guess RSO forgot to raise his hand when he asked if HE was better off then with GWB took office. (Note: GWB has been HIGHLY disappointing. But not disappointing enough to bring in a borderline socialist as the leader of my country - and before you say I'm being Kaperbole over again, which to some extent I am, just wait. I'll prove my point later with RSO's own words - I've finally decided to "get involved").

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) Frankly I disagree on this one. I think the "gaffe" clock is a decent idea. Tries to tarnish Biden a bit, focuses the media a bit more if he makes a big one, reinforces a "loose cannon" myth. Would have been a reasonable thing to do to the current fool in 2000. Bitter, party of Democrats, your table is waiting...

QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) couldn't you just change the domain name? I would simply mirror the site to go to RSO.com.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 03:07 PM) Who is better from McCain's list is the question? If Obama's list was weak, his is an abject disaster area. The top names are usually Romney, Huckabee, Jindal, Pawlenty, Charlie Crist, and then beyond that it gets even more obscure unless he can talk Petraeus in to rocking it. Tom Ridge is out there, but he's pro-choice. Then there's Holy Joe. McCain's going to run on how important experience is in this race, how we need his skill to deal with times of crisis and how Obama's just an inexperienced (Muslim) celebrity. Who from that list isn't exactly what he's hitting Obama on? Bunch of poorly known governors who you pick to try to pick up a state, and a couple of slightly bigger names who would absolutely piss off the base. Pick a name from McCain's possible list...and picture him having to hold his ground in a debate with Biden when the questions are asked about what in their experience prepares them to take over for the President in the event of a crisis. Romney at least has a solid business background to go along with his governorship. But frankly, there's not a looker in the bunch. Absolutely spot on, Balta. And it disgusts me.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 10:08 AM) AHB, I think this is your best post EVAR. I laughed pretty good at that one too.

The "GOP" (even though it's not my party) is HAPPY with this pick because Biden is a hypocritical douche. I thought it would be Biden some months ago, so I'm not surprised. In fact, I have it posted here somewhere, I'll have to go find it (in the same realm of a PHT post of SEE I WAS RIGHT LOLERZ LLOLL!@$#!#%)...

Oh please, Biden... that guy is an idiot.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 04:14 PM) They are tracking private flights in and out of O'Hare!! The media is literally creaming themselves over this. It's hysterical, actually.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) UPDATE: It's been an hour and no announcement. i would assume if it is true that Obama's VP will be in Springfield tomorrow, he HAS to announce today. The plane ride late tonight or early tomorrow will tip off reporters. He/She is probably already there. It's Michele.

I JUST GOT MY TEXT~!!!!!! Juuuuust skiddin'. It'll be in the next hour. He wants to hit up all those commuters as they drive home for "BREAKING NEWS!!!" This gives me an idea. I think I might go wreck my car and say the RSO text made me do it. Oh wait, I just confessed. Damn. Now I can't do it.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 12:25 PM) Interesting graphic comparing Tax Plans http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...8060900950.html What DOESN'T this show? Corporate taxes? Investment taxes? Estate taxes? Other? That's where the real erosion will take place under an RSO presidency. -
This opinion piece says pretty well what I've been trying to say for weeks. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/c...icle4582920.ece

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 11:49 AM) The AP interestingly is throwing the name of Texas Representative Chet Edwards in to the mix. Pelosi has been pushing him hard for months. I've heard this several times before. He reps the area just south of where I live, IIRC.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 08:03 AM) Then again by Senator Obama's definition I am rich, because my taxes would go up under his plans. Tell me about it.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 07:06 AM) 73-53 +0.5 games over MN What is their record since June 1? They have to be playing .700 ball, these guys just don't go away.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) Bush 41 picked his VP on the second day of the GOP convention in 1988. That's the most recent instance. Huntington, IN was a pretty happening place, I remember it.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 03:17 PM) I think there is a distinct chance Obama loses in November because of people like you, because there are so many people who agree with you on this election right now, and I don't think Obama or his people realize it. They still think that people buy he is the "candidate for change" and "a different kind of politician", when (fortunately) it turns out people aren't stupid enough to but that. People can vote for Obama if they want to, but if they think he's really any different they are simply lying to themselves because he's not. At all. Thank you for saying it better then I apparantly can(not). -

QUOTE (SpringfieldFan @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) I can't for the life of me figure out how trampolining can be an olympic event but golf isn't. SFF I was thinking about that the other day. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) And I still find it hard to believe you'd do that kind of announcement on a Friday. And when are the closing ceremonies? Me too, I'm VERY surprised that it hasn't come out until now. I can't remember a candidate waiting until the convention itself to pick the candidate, and RSO just might have to, which cuts into the airtime of others, including his wife. It makes me wonder if there's not gigtantic skeletons in everyone's closet and they're putting out trial balloons everywhere to see what gets picked up and what doesn't.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) Really? I guess if it throws the schedule too far out of whack, but if it's only 10 minutes, they'll wait. Well, when you travel a lot, it's bound to happen more. I've had them held, and had them leave. Thankfully, I don't have to worry about it anymore.

2008 General Election Discussion Thread

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) Reading kap's rants sometimes makes my day. I'm glad you can find humor in them, because most of the time, it is supposed to be humor. I don't take it that serious, all kidding aside. Although, I will say this. I may not be the best at what I'm trying to type on here, but southsider just said it pretty well, and it's actually pretty close to what I think, because honestly, RSO is ABSOLUTELY no better then any of the rest of them despite how you all want to always see how he's "better". It's kind of like when you buy a new car. It sure does ride pretty when you first by it, but eventually, it turns into a piece of s***, and that's how I see RSO. I cannot STAND McCain, but if it keeps RSO from getting the White House, then I'll gladly wear the latex gloves and hold my nose and pull the lever for McCain.
