  1. Happy Birthday, drunkass!
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 05:24 PM) Why on earth would that matter? I wasn't thinking the columns, I was thinking the seal and all. Nevermind, the comment is not valid and did not pass go, and I have to give my $200 back.
  3. Balta, difference is, incumbent, vs. not. But I'm sure that doesn't matter, so nevermind.
  4. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 02:52 PM) Yea but at some point you'll need public support in order to move legislation. If you dont win the popular vote you wont have a very good approval rating at the onset of your presidency you wont be able to push your policies quickly enough. The only real out is crossing your fingers for a 9/11 or something to rally everyone behind you. Go read the MUST READ THIS THREAD BEFORE POSTING and sign up, my friend.
  5. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 01:38 PM) Well, I'll say this much in response. Obama scares the hell out of me. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him ... and before anybody throws race into the equation ... I gave Obama a legitimate chance early in the primaries. In fact, I despised Hillary and Obama was an unknown in my mind. Today, I'd vote for Hillary in a heartbeat over Obama. That said, I also plan to vote McCain in the general .... BUT!!!!! ... If he actually is a continuation of GWB then we are f***ed either way we go. You just summed it up pretty well for me.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 01:26 PM) You don't? And Bush's problem wasn't he was not ready, his problem was (and is) he's an idiot. Big difference. RSO's not an idiot, far from it, and you have a point. At the same time, RSO is ... not exactly what this country needs right now, in my not so humble opinion. Neither's McCain, but there's not a better alternative at this point.
  7. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 12:59 PM) Why? Because I think Hillary was s*** on by the party and that Obama peaked too soon. I'm not saying I'm right and I'm not saying I'm a political pundit, but it's just my opinion at this point in time. I hope you're right, for the sake of the country.
  8. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 12:55 PM) Why? Because of her speech last night? Because Obama has dropped some points in the polls? I don't really see the reasoning behind that...if she couldn't win the primaries how could she be a lock for the presidency? They hand out the signs...if you look at the Kennedy speech everyone is holding Kennedy signs No, the video montage before she ever took the stage... she could have put clips in there of her and Obama, but nope, it was HER and HER campaign.
  9. The videos of her was all with the "Clinton" signs behind her. NONE of them had Obama signs. Symbolic? You bet your ass. This was her convention, and she got outdueled (I still haven't figured out how).
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) I think #2 is important to me. In America, our Muslim population has been very hardworking and has gotten themselves relatively ahead. In Europe, they are among the poorest population, and isolated with terrible schooling and completely marginalized. The result is they've opened themselves up, as radicalization takes place so they can feel power in something. We cannot marginalize productive, patriotic Muslims in this country. Obama has to stop treating the Muslim claim like it's acid. Conversely, McCain's repeated talk about how mid-east countries are averse to our "Judeo-Christian" values is seen as setting up a religious war to uneducated peoples. Was this country founded on Judeo-Christian principles, yes. Is that the reason we are facing threats from radical muslim extremists? A small part. But if you push that to the front it is a dangerous precedent. This country has come too far to villify our own Americans, and immediately after 9/11 I think we did a good job of embracing our Muslim population. Do not perceive this as me advocating teaching the Q'uran in public schools or backing down at stuff like that, more that we should be careful about our language. Muslim has become such a dirty word, if people begin attributing the radicals of terrorist groups to hard working Americans we are creating problems at home we don't need and can easily be prevented. Good post.
  11. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 11:44 AM) I read that and had M.A.S.H. flashbacks where Radar got Henry to discharge the Thanksgiving turkey using that trick. That show was the best. I even remember them from when it was originally on.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 12:07 PM) can you admit you were wrong on your media prediction? Nope. Because it's not over yet.
  13. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 09:24 AM) Another day, another McCain ad that flat out lies about Obama: That's stupid. Seriously stupid. (the ad and the out of context, not you... ).
  14. That's just bad. And funny.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) Leagues are posted! Where are they?
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 06:28 AM) That's exactly why I didn't want to vote for her. She can change character better than some academy award winning actors. She's just as false as can be. She's just a better politician. Romney gives me the same set of creeps. There's a dream ticket... Clinton-Romney PUKE.
  17. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 12:49 AM) i dont like obama. i just still don't buy his bulls*** and i hate listening to great guys like kennedy and warner drool over him. (yes i know it's the convention). i guess this is gonna be my first 'hold my nose' vote. I'm glad to see a Democrat say this and not slob his knob like most everyone else.
  18. And the Twinkies lost again. I was happy to see that this morning. +2.0 baby, and the games are a' disappearin'...
  19. One of my favorites was the Austrailian dude nailing 10's on his final dive to win the only gold medal in the diving competition that wasn't awarded to a Chinese athlete.
  20. Good f***ing riddance, you piece of f***ing brown crusty s***. /FLUSH I hope I don't get suspended for this.
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) As of right this second: G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO AVG OBP SLG OPS Hamilton 128 514 83 154 29 4 29 116 52 100 .300 .364 .541 .905 Quentin 126 466 95 136 25 1 36 100 64 78 .292 .398 .582 .979 Morneau 131 494 78 152 34 3 20 102 67 71 .308 .389 .510 .899 Like I said; it's not particularly close. His BA is going to hurt him, but more 3-5 nights might help.
  22. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) This is political season... even the media would flip-flop!! lol They have been pushing the "they hate each other" angle the last 4+ days. Sure, because it sells. Then, all of a sudden, to get their main man elected, THEY'RE UNIFIED! That's the way it will go.
  23. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 07:02 PM) It's actually a pretty smart decision. Clinton will call for her supporters to really around Obama this evening with what is reported to be a VERY strong speech. Let them vent in private tomorrow morning, then come together outside. This does a couple of things - it gets the media to say SEE, I TOLD YOU THEY'RE UNITED, and two, it keeps the b****ing off the table. Let's see what happens, but I think the news here is that there is news about this - meaning, they're trying to put on the best front possible and get the media to sing cumbayah for the Dems.
  24. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) For what it's worth: There is a rumor going around that the "nomination" vote will be held at a private dinner tomorrow morning than when the public nomination comes up at the convention, Clinton will call for vote by affirmation for Obama. Clinton would not be in the "affirmation" vote. I'm pretty sure I agree with you - because they have to show the "unity" now... and Hilldog will assure that tonight one way or the other, even if she's lying through her teeth.
