QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) Face it kids, who do you think will end up selling more albums: Sanjaya or LaKisha? Hayley or LaKisha? This is about commercial music, Pop music. LaKisha will have a longer career, no doubt. BUT in the short term, which is all the major labels care about, Sanjaya and Hayley will sell craploads more albums. The record label is praying for one of those two to win. Simon's desire for respect wants LaKisha, but his bankbook wants Sanjaya. This is why the producers won't step in. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Haley, maybe, but Sanjaya will sell more albums then any other that's left?

MEDIA BIAS ON THE THREAD TITLE! Thanks, everyone.

This was designed to overshadow the fact that we're doing miliary excercises right off their coast.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 05:32 PM) I can't see a damn thing from over here. Frickin' Arkansas is in the way I hope everyone is safe. I know... what a big ass she has too...

I hate seeing all the plastic bags littering everything across from (insert box store here).

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 02:09 PM) I'm aware of that, but fiscal 06-07 has no actual budget. The Congress last year never passed one. I'm not defending pork spending or anything like that - but my question is, had an actual budget been passed last year, would most of this stuff actually been needed to vote on - say- now rather than months ago when it should have come up for vote in the first place? Again, no. They would have found other pet projects to buy the necessary votes, regardless of these.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 01:30 PM) That's just it - the move is 100% posturing and 0% substance, That could be said for damn near every law passed in Congress today.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 04:56 PM) Personally I would have told the guy to go get help as well... Now I know what you're going to do to me when I crack up and have to go to the old fogey's home...

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 12:34 PM) Or a truth in legislation act... These assholes wouldn't know "truth" if it bit them in the ass. (This is a bipartisan comment).

QUOTE(TornLabrum @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 02:57 AM) I received an email from Stephanie today. So far only 42 tickets have been sold for the May 26 Patio Party. Tickets will go to groups and the general public after April 13. She requests that reservations be made sooner rather than later. Just a heads up. Argh - your damn screen name... BLASTED TornLabrum!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) Personally I think this a calculated ploy for Bush to be able to claim some sort of a "victory" over the islamofacists and prop up his sagging approval ratings back home. Nothing unites a country like a common enemy. Fixed that for you. I mean, we only have a war mongerer for a President! QUOTE(Soxy @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 04:59 PM) It might be a ploy, but I really doubt the Iranians are that stupid. I am concerned about what role China and Russia will play in the unfolding Iran drama. And there's really the heart of the matter. Russia, and even more importantly, China, have HUGE economic interests in Iran. They are really rattling cupboards around the world aligning themselves for what happens if $$$ gets seized up due to a "conflict" with Iran.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) You have been shot in the face. OW! And Soxy's clip is interesting, too. There's a lot of "saber rattling", but I doubt much is happening.

BUMPED::::::Toby Hall Possibly out for the season

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 08:42 PM) Which part do you disagree with? We've argued at length about whether or not it was Ozzie's fault, and I can see how people would agree/disagree with it. If you're arguing about it not being a big blow to the team, then I would have to severely disagree with you. I replied to page one in a 10 page thread (and now I'm replying to page 11 in a 21 page thread) so my timing sucks. It's something that was a freak thing. And yes, it's a hit to the team. But it certainly wasn't Ozzie's "fault". -
Can't we all just get along?

"indefinitely"... Keep drinking the Dem koolaid... you're right up there on their talking points.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) Huge blow to the Sox there. The vibe seems to be just horrendous now. Well done Ozzie, well done. GMAFB. Sometimes, you people just kill me around here. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 07:44 PM) If you want more than the troop levels we have right now...yes, it requires a draft. We probably can't sustain these troop levels for another year no matter what we do. So you're telling me that we have only 140,000 people in the military right now? (I know that's an extreme number I'm throwing out there, but I want to try to make that point without doing a bunch of research that I don't have time to do). At the heart of it, though, I agree with your original premise, minus the draft is needed part. /faints

Our dog is really good at "knocking" on the door or barking (more like yelping really quick) to let us know he needs out.

NY Times calls for Attorney General's dismissal.

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) This administration's track record with accountability says otherwise, though. Ahh yes, it's always about George W. Bush and his accountibilty. /rolly They are all a bunch of scumsucking power tripping eogtisitcal maniacs without a friggin' clue on both sides of the aisle. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) I think at some level, Kap does have a point, even though I disagree with him in general. Let's say I accept Mr. Bush at his word. Let's say that the Iraq war is the Central Front in the War on Terror, adn we're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here, and every other thing Mr. Bush has said to try to keep support for this thing going is correct. Let's say that the answer to the "Iraq war: Great war or Greatest War" question is "Greatest war". In that case, why the Hell is the only thing I'm being asked to do to be kind to Nuke online and go shopping? If this is the most important conflict in our history, if this is World War IV, if we can't let Iraq fall apart at any cost, then why have we been there for 4+ years with only 150,000-160,000 troops max? We've had more than enough time to actually train and equip multiple divisions if we really wanted to. We could have, at this point, drafted soldiers, trained them, equipped them, and rotated them in a couple of times. We could have, if we wanted to, had 250,000 or 300,000 troops in a regular rotation through that country right now. There has been time to do that. So ask yourself this question; why haven't we done this? Why hasn't Mr. Bush called for a draft, made it happen, spent the hundreds of billions it would have taken to expand the army, and so forth? I'll give you the 2 reasons I see. First, the American people don't believe Mr. Bush's rhetoric. This is not the most important war ever, and America will not fall apart if we leave right now. And second, Mr. Bush and the entire power structure right now, and for the last 4+ years, has been more interested in preserving their own power than actually taking the steps necessary to win. So instead of actually spending the little political capital they had to create an army to fight this war, they just denied we needed it, said it was the "last throes", and so forth. And of course, the final point is...if the people who wanted this war don't think it's important enough to risk their political power to take steps that might help...why should the American people put up with it? Balta, RIGHT ON. That's been my point on this for I can't tell you how long, and you finally got it. I'll say more later (damn, I hate this last two weeks of this degree... ) Oh, and you don't need the draft.

The problem with this war is it is more of a war of psychology then ever before. And, let's face it, Americans are wusses in the wars of psychology. We don't have the guts to stand up for our values anymore.
