The Republican Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 06:48 PM) There's a decent amount of info out there on the average health insurance policy costs for a family of four. It's something like $5000 annual average country-wide and as high as $13000 average in NJ. Health insurance is not cheap at all, and it's prohibitively expensive if you don't have your employer subsidizing it. Expensive or not, it's certainly not a "right". But, meh, we've beat the piss out of that poor dead horse.

Arizona requires you to carry your papers
Because it *IS* "AMNESTY". They came here knowingly breaking the law and CHOSE to do it anyway. Now, they get off like they didn't ever break our laws. Here's a suggestion. They all need to have crimanal documentation on their records when they get granted their citizenship by Barackus the Great. But you know that won't happen. Then, when they get their background checks, employers can decide if they want to "overlook" the little issue on their record

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 06:12 PM) You're going to have to actually explain this one. Well, the conspiracy nut that I am says that this was sabotage. But, that's not what I meant. What I mean is, by knowing what they knew when they knew it (the White House and Barack Obama specifically) they are negligent because they allowed what was an otherwise avoidable situation manifest into what this is. That's negligence, and a criminal act by definition. Obvously, the office of the president can't be sued, and in that capacity, he can't be sued, but he sure as hell should be. He's got just as much slimey oil on his hands as BP now. In the beginning, of course not... but now, absolutely. Because, frankly, 3 days into this, they knew how big this was, and BP AND the White House were playing a big game of CYA.

Obama is just as negligent and criminally liable (yea, I know, can't happen, but in reality this is true) in this as BP now.

Tonight's speech: Story after story about how bad it is, and how *I* personally met with all these people's lives that are ruined. (Create strawman). BP sucks, and *I* will hold them personally responsible for any and all cleanup costs and put in regluations to ensure this never happens again. ("Kick their ass"). *I* have appointed an oil czar. (More government executive power). *I* have been and am on top of this since day one. (f***ing straight up lie but have to "cover that ass") *I* have appointed another lawyer at MMS (gotta have more lawyers, can't pass up this crisis as an opportunity) This will be long and painful, and *I* will not rest until it's cleaned up. (Kind of like solving mortgage crisis and unemployment will not exceed 8%). That's about it. 45 minutes just typed out in two.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 08:58 PM) No, that's not a problem. The whole bloody point is to bend the long term cost curve long term. And more that we don't know about yet? Yeah, because reading = tough And you're out of your mind if you think that this is going to "bend the long term cost curve long term" - oh wait, you mean make it more expensive... Got it. It's already been disproven many, many times based on the current legislation. Which, to that point, we don't know everything yet, because they keep attaching riders to modify the original pased bill. Funny how that gets missed. They keep changing the tax/subsidies/funding. Shocker, I know.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) Reason I disagree is cause then the Cubs fans would have to actually acknowledge they're playing baseball this season. Every Cubs fan I know acts like they're not even following the team this season. Yea, but they NO HIT THE SOX.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) But the Excise tax doesn't kick in for anyone until 2016-2017. Which part? Gee, isn't that a problem? How many different new taxes are kicking in as a result of this? At least 4, and probably more that we don't know about yet.
