QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 03:20 AM) I will be applying to Boston College, Indiana, Ohio St, Kansas, Umass-Amherst, Connecticut. What are some of your GPA's and ACT/SAT scores like? 26 on my ACT. I'm ranked 24th in my class out of about 310 or so. I don't know what my GPA is. I'm basically an A-to-B student in most of my classes, and I take only AP or Honors classes. The only class I've ever gotten a C in was Physics. I hate Physics/Chemistry/Biology. Yuck... Science.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:33 AM) That's personal and besides, I thought they threw that rumor down. And also, it is not in the field of play and in no way effected the outcome of the game, did it? What does it have to do with the outcome of the game? So now it's, cheap shots so long as they don't affect the outcome of the game. Keep on backtracking... Still waiting for you to find where I said that cheap shots are Okay. I better stop waiting, or I'll be here a long time.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:27 AM) I do not recall and AJ cheap shots.... Kicking a trainer in the balls isn't a cheap shot?

CS1, I'm looking at Marquette and University of Wisconsin right now. I've visited Marquette, loved the campus. It reminded me of Chicago -- except, a little bit shrunk down -- and I love Chicago. I'm also looking at UofW, because I've had a teacher who said she loved the campus and the whole aspect of it, and she's extremely down to earth, and fairly young, too. I want to be close to Illinois -- close enough for me to be able to drive home if I feel like it, yet far enough to where my parents will have to call if they're visiting.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) I understand but I would not like the Hawks to be seen as "head-hunters". I know, it was 1 mistake, but look at what he did to the guy. He almost paralyzed him. I'd like to invite any of you to get a punch to the head from Bertuzzi and then let him fall on you slamming your head into the ground. IMO, I wouldn't want the guy. As far as pure hockey skill goes, he is one of the best. He is an absolute awesome offensive force but I personally, do not tolerate cheap shots. If Torri Hunter was a free-agent and the Sox had a need in CF, no one here would sign him... If Torii Hunter came at a reasonable price, hell yeah I'd want him. I don't see a lot of guys on the Twins coming out and saying, "I hate Torii!". In fact, I'm pretty sure he's a favorite over there. It's all relative, but at a good price, hell yeah I'd take Hunter -- CFers with as much range as his don't come around very often.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) Your confusing me. 1st you like to make a mockery of my hockey knowledge, and I admit, I don't have that much and don't try to act like I do, but now youe saying cheap shot's are okay? Please explain your stance further... Where the f*** did I say cheap shots are Ok? Mercy... :banghead :banghead Find it in there. I don't see it, but maybe I can't read as well as you can.
  7. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:06 AM) On another hockey forum I admin and post at, someone just said the same thing. "He tried to kill him". GMAFB. Damn, people. To tell you the truth, that's one of the reasons fighting has to stay in the game. If I remember the play correctly -- as I was watching the game on NHL Centre Ice -- Moore refused to drop the gloves. It was a real choppy game, lots of shots going both ways. And, no one wanted to go at it with Bert. So, Bertuzzi gave him a cheap shot. Not saying it was right, just saying, you'll see a helluva lot more of that if you take fighting out of the game.
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) Ahh, Bobby Jenks shines hope on even the s***tiest of games. If it's so s***ty, stop watching. Do us all a favor.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) Wait, we want to complain about soft players but we also want to sign players who almost killed another player....oooooooh, ok. Now I understand! :banghead :headshake He made a mistake, and payed the price for it. Almost killed him? GMAB. I'd use the Brad Isbister (snicker) joke, but Tom already used it... Keep on talking, though, you're hockey knowledge is really giving me a good laugh.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) In no way is this a shot at Ozzie....but this is why no professional coach/manager should make something personal with an official. Umps/refs are some of the most egotistical people you'll ever find, and you have to be naive to not think they'll screw you if they get the chance. It's one thing to make a call like that. It was close, I'm not that pissed about it. But the A-Rod getting hit by a ball is a whole 'nother story. According to Reifort, the rule STATES that if the guy who pops out interferes with a ball in play, then his teammate should/will be called out. That's UNACCEPTABLE umpiring to not know the rulebook in that situation. That should call for a fine or suspension of that crew. I'm not mad at you, just pissed about the umps.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) Well, when it's in the first two innings, what the f*** do you expect people to say? Do you only post when the Sox are losing to attack others who might say something bad? You hardly posted one f***ing thing the last two games. I know people like myself and Milkman are pessmistic....but at least we're consistent in posting in every game, no matter what the score is. Well, give me a break. El Duque's been known as a slow starter this season, and you guys jump all over his f***ing ass when he gives up a two run homer to -- Alex f***ing Rodriguez. The best thirdbaseman in possibly all of baseball, and you guys b****. It's tiring. And, like I said, Milkman's comment about the Yankees not regretting signing Hernandez was the dumbest thing I've read on here in a while, and that's saying a lot.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) He still put us in a 3 run hole early in the game. If Garland did that, the Judy comments would be flying. It's not just this game which makes people feel like Duque's not a playoff pitcher....it's the 4.69 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP. And what are the other options for a fourth starter...? Contreras. I'll take El Duque over Contreras every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Heck, make it thrice on Sundays...
  13. El Duque sure hasn't gotten many of the close pitches. Great outing, Orlando. Way to bounce back after the first...
  14. Dye got a real good pitch to hit on the second to last pitch of the AB. A cookie right down the middle. Missed it... f***.
  15. A-Rod you f***ing b****... Watched the whole damn thing.
  16. Ok... First pitch to Cano, he threw that 68 MPH slow curveball, and it ended up pretty much right down the middle, and called the ball. Then, he throws that inside curveball to Sheffield -- basically the same pitch that Jermaine was called out on, and Sheff gets the call. This inconsistant strike zone is bulls***. f***ing bulls***. It's hard to get Gary Sheffield out when you have to throw five strikes.
  17. Alrighty... Big inning for El Duque here, Cano, Sheff, and A-Rod. Come on, Orlando.
  18. 3-2. Come on, Scotty, use that short porch to your advantage...
  19. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) 3-0. Somebody should tell Duque to stop rubbing the Yankees' face in the fact that they didn't re-sign him. Congratulations! You've earned the 'Stupidest Post of the Gamethread Award'! Yeah, the Yanks are really glad that they don't have El Duque for $4 million and his 4.70 ERA. Rather, they have have guys like Carl Pavano for ten million (4.77 ERA, 17 starts) and Jaret Wright for seven million (9.15 ERA in four starts). Don't take this personally, but you're a dumbass.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) Did anyone expect Duque to shut down the Yankees? We have no chance to win these games against Yanks without scoring at least 5 runs. Last time you said that -- "I expect both teams to score double digits" -- you were wrong. In fact, if I wanted to go back throughout all of the gamethreads, I'd have to think that 75% of your gamethread 'something-goes-wrong-early' predictions are wrong.
  21. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) I expect 6 shut out innings from El Duque now. It usually takes him an inning or so to settle in. Once he gets his breaking stuff over, he's pretty hard to hit, and it seems to me that he 'feels' for those pitches in the early going. Keep 'em to four or less, and I'll be somewhat happy.
  22. Who are the AL Cy Young candidates? Halladay, Garland, Buehrle? I'm talking non-closers...
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) Jason Schmidt for Brandon McCarthy, Damaso Marte, and Brian Anderson. That's not that great of a comparison, really. a.)I doubt that McCarthy could have done this year what Haren has done for the Athletics. 4.06 ERA, 152 + IP in 24 starts. I doubt Beane makes the trade if he thinks/thought that the kid wasn't ready to pitch in the big leagues. He needed at least one of Meyer/Haren to be ready to start in their rotation, he got that. Dan Meyer has been hurt this year. He's pitched about 70 innings at Sacramento. b.)Brian Anderson is nowhere near the prospect that Barton is. In 185 ABs, Anderson posted a .765 OPS at AA. Barton is currently posting an .887 OPS at AA in 106 ABs. Obviously, that's a small sample size -- and, I also realize that Anderson played in an extremely s***ty hitter's park (while I'm not aware of what Midland is considered), but that a .120 point difference. Oakland wasn't going to be able to resign Hudson in their situation, especially now that they signed Kotsay for about eight million for each of two years. That trade really hinges on how Meyer does. And, in his limited time at AAA, he hasn't done too well.
