  1. Garland throwing his changeup is so pretty. That pitch has become so good for him...
  2. Those Northwestern ratings are awesome. McGarigle is gonna be a stud for NU this year, and was a lot of fun to watch last season. Can't wait for it to come out for X-Box...
  3. Wow, I didn't realize just how bad of a month Ryan Sweeney was having. .263 SLG%? .271 OBP? :puke Over the course of this half season, my excitment towards prospects have shifted from Ryan Sweeney and Josh Fields to Chris Young and Casey Rogowski. I'm starting to get really excited about Rogo.
  4. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) Yes he can hit to RF with authority he did that yesterday, I would like to see him do it a little more if he does I think the AVG will raise from the .260 range to .290 range. If he does that, though, he's also likely to hit for less x-tra base hits. I agree with Jason, sort of on the Andruw Jones comparison. Check out this link from Sabernomics.com, scroll down, and look at the second hitting chart. Most of his hits at Turner Field have been in LF, with none going to RF. A few to RC, but none to straight RF. If Young increasing his BA .015 points just to get a few more singles, but lowers his SLG%, I'm not quite sure that it's worth it... I'd also like to say, Young has become one of my favorite prospects -- and if, in some way, we do make a deal with Oakland, either he or Anderson will be gone. They need a good CF prospect...
  5. Link If they get it done within the next half a month, oh man, will I be happy. I've said just about everything I've wanted to say about hockey over the last couple of months, so no need to post it again. But hopefully some sort of weighted draft will be put in place, that's really one of the funnest days of the summer. Git 'er done! Please!
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 05:18 AM) Strange things like balls getting lost in the sun or in the lights, dropped pop ups, Joe Crede getting hit and not going down to first, Joe Crede and Jermaine Dye playing shortstop. So many f'd up things have happened out there. Bases loaded... D'Angelo Jimenez... Pops it up! f***.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 05:08 AM) Now, try and get 4 runs, if not shake this off and take the series with Jon and Mark. This has been an ugly game no doubt but it's just that, 1 game. I'll be happy with one out of three. Hot Oakland + House of Horrors + West Coast = Bad. Even with the best team in baseball. Get us one, so we can take four out of six on the road trip, and I'll be really happy.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 05:03 AM) Aubrey Huff has been just as bad as Crede this year. I used to love Aubrey as a hitter but to me just watching him play now I think there might be something wrong with him, his bat speed has looked to slow imo. Zoom and Rowand, I just looked at the stats -- sub-700 OPS. Wow, I didn't realize he's been that bad this year. I'll keep my mouth shut.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 04:55 AM) As bad as Contreras was, the Sox aren't going to win many games scoring 2 runs. After the first inning, I don't understand the offensive approach. It seemed like no one really had a plan at the plate. And Kendall's thrown out 7 of 61 coming in. Except for Konerko and AJ, if anyone else gets on first, they should have been going. Maybe the'll do the unimaginable and score a few of Street in the 9th. I agree. Everyone talks about getting a stud SP, or that guy at the back of the bullpen -- what about an upgrade at 3B? I realize you're gonna lose a little defense if you trade for someone, but we gotta get more production out of the offense. It simply isn't that great -- adding a bat like Aubrey Huff would do a lot, IMO. But that's not for this thread, so I won't talk a whole lot about it.
  10. Stanton. That's the guy. It'd be nice to have an actual LOOGY in our bullpen. 'Cause, while I like Marte and Cotts, they aren't LOOGYs. Plus... come on... LOOGY. It's fun to say.
  11. Two things. Sign Jabroni's new guy, Quantrill, the LOOGY, and promote Baj. I don't give a damn what you do with Vizcaino and Walker, just, get them out of the organization. Man... I wish we would've grabbed someone else from Milwaukee rather than Viz.
  12. If you walk Marco f***ing Scutaro, you ought to be shot.
  13. Absolutely un-f***ing-believable how Bajenaru hasn't gotten a shot over this POS yet. Mercy... should've traded him after his hot spring. Well, can't do that till June 1st, but still. Hell, send up Josh Fields, who also has had a MUCH better season than Walker. He sucks at AAA, and they think he can get the job done in the majors? What the hell?!?!?!
  14. One more, Walker, and you'll get your props.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 03:45 AM) Woah, woah, woah, that one he had no chance at getting to. Did he maybe get a bad jump on it? I dunno, I wasn't watching...
  16. You didn't get what I was saying. I wasn't saying that they're planning on investing money in another starter with Buehrle + Garcia + (potentially) Garland on the hook for $20 million plus. I was just saying that he'll be valuable on the open market if he can put up a 4.25 ERA. Think Texas -- they're always looking for pitching.
  17. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 03:23 AM) The problem with freeing up that much money is that it appears to be a less than stellar FA class. Plus, those teams you mentioned aren't going to just give those guys away. If Contreras can finish the year around a 4.00 ERA, he'll be a valuable asset come this offseason; especially considering the FA starting pitcher class is AJ Burnett and the rest. We should net a pretty decent to solid player for Contreras, if we eat a million or two. I also think with some more money we'll delve into that Japanese market again, several pitchers wanting to come over here...
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) I suppose it depends on what the Sox do with the $8.5 million they'd save. Put at least half into a productive third baseman perhaps if they don't want to keep Crede, and the rest in the bullpen. We should be in a good position heading into the offseason. Assuming we pass our attendence of last year, we'll raise the payroll anywhere from $5-$15 million, if not more. If I were GM, I'd look to restructure Thomas' deal to keep him here for the rest of his career, but not at $10 million -- maybe $7-$8. Then the same goes for Garland and Pierzynski. Konerko is gonna get a lot of money, and I bet he and his agent know that. Let him walk, get yourself a good thirdbaseman or one of the several 1B prospects that seem to be popping up -- Gonzalez from Texas, Howard from Philly, or (not a prospect) Overbay from Milwaukee. Or you could just move Dye to first and use he and Gload there.
  19. It's tied in Minny. Brazleton (sp?) has gotten wild again. Bases juiced, Jacque Jones at the plate. 4-4. EDIT: Three runs score on a Jones triple. Game, set match... We have to survive this stretch. I believe Minny basically plays TB and KC until the ASB, so as long as we can maintain a solid lead -- well, then, that's good.
  20. The Oakland fans seemingly hate Dye. I don't know why... I realize he wasn't great, but was he known as a guy who 'dogged' it or something? Great first inning.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) Paulie looking a bit overmatched. HOpefully he can drive something. This is a game where having a Ross Gload on the bench pays huge dividends. I'm not saying that Ross goes 4-for-4 with 4 HRs, but I'll take him vs. Harden any day...
  22. Now this is a gamethread I want to participate in. Jim, Jackie, R44, Willie.. more of the people I want to see.
