  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) I can't believe you just said that our offense sucks and then led us to a link of league leaders in Batting average. do you even know anything about baseball. I needed a laugh. Thanks, JP, I almost spit my soda all over the computer screen.
  2. Come on, Harris. Break out of the slump, right here. Nice play by JD Drew, too...
  3. Is Wayne Gretzky a Sox fan? If so, that's pretty cool...
  4. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) Good lord, man. GMAFB. You sound like Hawk. :headshake Why, 'cause I'm not b****ing post after post after post? Winodj, would you respect me more if I cried "CORPSEBALL!!!!" after every out I made? Would you like me any more?
  5. QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:26 AM) Maybe because we're the best team in baseball, and every pitcher is actually bringing their A game to our team? Just maybe? He's got 7 groundball outs. He's got his sinker working tonight. It's not like the Sox have had a bunch of opportunities to score and have failed. We've done a poor job in one situation, where Dye DP'ed -- otherwise, it's a 3-1 ballgame. Weaver is pitching well.
  6. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) HAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh, come on. Were you listening to the broadcasters at all? Even if Harris comes up with that clean, he doesn't make that play. GMAB. You're just nitpicking now...
  7. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) My point is that there's a reason we signed Iguchi. ...ok? You find someone who can do better job than the guy you currently have, you go get him (so long as the production is on par for the price). I don't think anyone is arguing his production vs. Iguchi's.
  8. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) FYI, Willie's career AVG is .239. And Neal Cotts' career ERA is 5.09. What's your point? He's got consistent AB's in just one year, and he played pretty well in that time.
  9. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) 60-odd abs. If a starter had a .220 avg after only a few weeks, noone would make anything of it, especially if it was just a slump for a week or so that pulled the avg down. I believe Harris has settled himself into a nice backup player who can be a pretty nice fill-in if a guy goes down. Certainly, he's not a great starter, but there are worse options. When given consistent AB's last year, I think he showed what he could do -- get on-base at a decent clip, and play really, really good defense. Like I said, a lot worse options.
  10. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) It was a really nice play. He still can't hit for s*** though. .226 AVG now. :puke 'Cause he's slumping now? It's pretty easy to kick a guy when he's down, and Harris is clearly "down" at the plate right now. I'm pretty confident that if given the AB's he's been getting over the course of the season, he'll get that OBP back up to league average. I'm very impressed by Konerko's .360+ OBP. Keep on walking, PK. And if you don't walk, hit homers.
  11. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:05 AM) Willie with another weak grounder to the right side. It's his specialty. Didn't see you giving him his due on the nice turn from 2nd-base... Surprise surprise.
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) Yes, but the offense looks bad so far. Fine, you said we're getting dominated. It's a tie game. And so what, it's three friggin innings. Give me a f***ing break. EDIT: And don't give me this, "I told you so" bulls*** if LA scores. Weaver has had some pretty good stuff going early on. Oh well, there's still 2/3rds of a game left.
  13. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) Eh, getting dominated by another scrub. What the hell... Am I missing something? It's 0-0, right?
  14. QUOTE(Wanne @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) And why couldn't Dye bunt there? Is he above that or considered too much of a "slugger"? Konerko is at third*. It'd need to be a pretty perfect bunt to get him over... I'm fine with the no bunt there. Just as often as you move the runner over, you get the guy at third thrown out. Dye just didn't get the job done. EDIT: *And by third, I of course, mean second. :banghead
  15. Gary Thorne. He usually does/did hockey. BTW, Morgan is really letting the world know about "Smartball". Kind of getting annoying. Really annoying.
  16. JReedfan (sorry, had the urge to bring up Reed ), the chat link is in the top right corner of the screen, just below the banner.
  17. Harris is slummmping, and that OBP is dropping. Luckily, it doesn't look like he's any different at the plate -- just, not getting hits (or walks) right now.
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) I haven't been here very long, but who are all these Castilla fans? I've only seen one guy constantly bringing him up. I dunno, about a month ago or so, there was a pretty decent sized contingent of people wanting to give up a B level prospect for Castilla...
  19. I think the green seats are the extent of it, just, filling the whole stadium with 'em rather than just the few parts here and there around the stadium. Weren't they also supposed to build a type of restaurant behind home plate? Maybe they already did it, or maybe I'm just thinking of something else?
  20. Ya get what ya pay for. Going into this season, I think just about everybody knew El Duque was going to get hurt, and that he wasn't going to be able to make 30+ starts. Oh well. But, I'll say this -- what El Duque has done for four million bucks is better than what guys like Eric Milton and Jared Wright are doing for $7 million +. We'll need him down the stretch.
  21. Just a note on Crede -- not that I'm a huge fan of his, but... Crede's OPS - .730. Vinny Castilla's OPS - .739. Where have all the Castilla fans gone?
  22. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) NL East followed closely by AL East... Agreed. But the AL Central is going to be a pretty fun division, especially with the Indians coming on strong. I'm really hoping for two AL Central teams to make the playoffs this year...
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) would you trade pods for ichiro straight up? I'm a little worried about Podsednik. A small sample size, but he only has four walks in June. I don't have the data in front of me, but it seems like he's seeing less pitches per plate appearance (though, I might be wrong on that -- I've missed a lot of games in June). As far as Ichiro, it seems his (somewhat) lack of walking is biting him in the butt (so far this year). He's down to a .342 OBP. He'll end up hitting, though, it's just odd seeing him with an average below .300...
  24. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) Agreed, I want Duque in the best form he can be at the end of the season and possibly the playoffs. I think I'd have the most faith in him in the playoffs, with his track record there. Yep. As much as people have been down on Hernandez, I think he'll pitch much better once he gets in a little groove. I can't believe that he's suddenly lost "it", after pitching as an above average pitcher over his career. We need to keep that arm healthy first and foremost, so if it means missing one start against KC in June, then that's perfectly OK.
  25. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) Career .766 OPS at 1B for probably $4-5 mill? You can't honestly be serious I'd rather have G-load at 1B for the whole year than Erstad Oh, come on witesox, you know you love the career 98 OPS+...
