QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) Keith tell Crede to go to rf, these guys seem to listen to you. Come on, Crede, how about a slow grounder to second base that scores PK?
-
Come on, AJ, don't get pissed at yourself. Take your anger out on the ball, we could use a gapper here...
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Diamondbacks are in the hunt Keith. They are buyers, not sellers. In general we have to look at the teams who'd want prospects. I don't mean to be a jerk, but Hilly's on the Jays...

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) They need a better bench and a guy who can play multiple positions. They said they will not be bringing in a superstar, not sure why we would think otherwise considering it's been said by KW and Guillen repeatedly. I am living in the reality here, meaning what I think is realistic. Of course I would love to add a star bat, but I won't bother speculating due to what the GM and manager have said. That's dissappointing. This team needs a big bat, because really, this lineup isn't that great. I really hope they make a pitch for Hillenbrand -- he's not really a big bat, but he'll do a better job than Crede or Konerko have been doing.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) He rested Rowand and put Timo in there, that's about the only objection I have. Do you have others? I don't mind Everett in there for Dye, we need to make sure Everett plays and SD had a tough RH going. If you are going to have Harris on the team, this was the day for him to play. I don't really have a problem with the lineup, either. Like you said, Timo in LF, but I certainly don't mind Harris/Everett starting today... BTW, a slumping Harris still has a league-average OBP -- it'll be right around .340 after the day. That said, he's had a really poor day at the plate today, and the past couple times he's started.
-
Willie is not doing a very good job right now. Down in the .230s...
-
Rowand makes that play -- IMO. Come on, Freddy, keep it to one.
-
That's a real, real lazy play by Podsednik there. He cost Freddy a base...
-
Good to see we tied it up. My dog needed a washing today, and right now, he looks all ratty -- it's funny.
-
Funny, SS71, I thought Crede shouldn't have started today? Ozuna should've played, right, right? Yeah -- make fun of the guy when he sucks, then don't come back when he does good. Pretty easy to do...
-
::Waits for the people who wanted Crede to ride the pine today to congratulate him:: Timo, take pitches, you bum.

Allow me to open a big, fat can of worms.
CWSGuy406 replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in The Diamond Club
Maybe it's just me, but I've seen nothing that Hideaway Lights has done wrong in this thread. He's defended his points, and really, the people that are resorting to, "Oh, he's just a Cubs fan, ban him." look pretty dumb. It also shows that ya really can't argue with/debate someone if you're gonna resort to the name calling. I don't agree with Lights' opinion, but I'm not gonna go start calling him a "Cubs fan" or any of that BS. I guess I don't really have a strong enough opinion on the subject to debate it. We're not in the same division, we play six times a year. I'll debate who's better when/if we meet in the Series. Oh, and not everyone in this thread did that, actually, barely anyone. I just saw a couple of posts leaning that way. Serves me right for not reading the whole thread... -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) No, it was in L.A. The Cubs will play the Yankees later this week I think. They played them for the first time at Wrigley a year or two ago, and that was a big deal. But while it'll be a cute series to see (and i'll have trouble figuring out who to root against), it won't be the same press that you got the first time they met since some random world series. Yeah, you're right. I remember Thomas going deep into the LF bullpen... or, maybe not bullpen, but it was where the people weren't sitting, right down the line. Anyways, I think I'm more pissed that I have to miss the Dodger series than I am about missing the Cubs series. That'd be real nice, go see JD Drew and the Dodgers, as well as the tailgate -- I gots to go to Ohio State, though, basketball camp. Then the next weekend it's off to Indiana University. A real drag... I hope I can make the game on Sunday, though I doubt it. What game is on that Sunday night? It ought to be the Sox/Dodgers...

QUOTE(ReinsdorfSucks @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:33 AM) and i hope your mother/sister/wife/daugher get raped by a drug addict with AIDS. Enough with the personal attacks, or you'll be gone. Enough already. Stop with the s***-slinging, seriously.

QUOTE(ReinsdorfSucks @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:26 AM) WHERE'S YOUR MESSIAH NOW? Are you a Sox fan? What the hell is that? So, instead of posting something of significance, you try to rub it in the posters' faces about a move Ozzie made? And you're the one saying that DBAHO is only 8 years-old? Pot, meet kettle.
-
Un-f***ing-believable. Suck a fat one, Oz. f***in', dumbass move right there.
-
This is one of the few times this season I'm absolutely pissed off about a managing choice. That was just such a terrible call there. I'm fine with letting Buehrle hit, but what the f***? Bunting? What the f*** is the bunt supposed to do, move a runner over? And, bunting with two strikes?!?!?!?!?!

JP Howell makes his major league debut for Kansas City tonight. He went to Texas and was drafted last year, making him the third (or is it fourth?) player from the 2004 draft to make the bigs. I really wanted him to fall to us, unfortunately, he didn't (oh well, we got Gio instead). Would've been real nice to get both of the lefties, but whatever... He does have a mean curve (Howell), though -- compared to Zito's, IIRC.
-
Mostly a bunch of stuff from John Sickels, but I'm still looking at all the draft stuff. Apparently there's a lot of "fallout" (for lack of a better word) with Beane taking a bunch of high-schoolers early, but anyways, here's the Sox stuff I found: Here's a Q & A with John Sickels from Baseball Digest Daily: And here's some general commentary on our draft from his blog.: I'm looking for some other stuff, too. Hopefully I can grab my brother's BA account real quickly to see the Organizational Post-Draft Report for the Sox. If I find some other stuff, I'll be sure to post it.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) I was gonna bump a "sign christian Guzman thread" from the off-season, but decided against it. .188/.225/.243 -- His numbers speak for themselves. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26123 -- if you're really bored. I'm glad where I stood on that argument...

I love it. The Dahhhhhhh-dger (in my best Vin Scully voice) fans had the "Hee Seop Choi" chant going on, and, as they say, boom goes the dynomite. D-Lowe takes the mount tonight vs. Silva.

still doubt timo in the utility role, haters?

QUOTE(robin_ventura_eternal @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 06:33 AM) why would i be here if i had no reason? i love baseball, i love the white sox, i want to talk about them with other fans. im not looking for a fight, for the last time. i guess what it comes down to is that you are reading too much into my posts. So you "egg" people on, yet aren't looking for a fight? Hmm... maybe my eyes have gone blind on me. -
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) We are thinking exactly the same on this. Heck, I would throw caution to the wind and offer him $2.2 million and see how it goes. I don't think they'll sign him but the White Sox are a very persuasive group and know how to put on the full court press when necessary. I wonder if this is a case where even Reinsdorf might get involved. Doubtful, but it will be interesting to see how this story unfolds. He might just do so. Maybe I'm overrating this kid, but signing him turns our draft-class from an average (maybe even worse) one to an above average one. Oh, and just a heads-up, Carrillo is pitching on ESPN in about eight minutes. They're in a rain-delay right now, but the ESPN broadcaster just said they're planning on starting a little after 2 EST.

.303/.359/.434 Shea Hillenbrand's line, so far this year. Of course, I'm not expecting the Sox to get him, just looking at potential options. 'Cause if we upgrade, I'd think it'll be at one of the IF corners, third or first.
