I know Jon really wants that complete game, but maybe it's better if we hand it to Cotts/Marte to finish the ninth? It's 6-0, and Jon's at 107 pitches.... -

QUOTE(toasty @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 03:57 AM) has anyone seen a pitch count for garland? 97. I'd like to say, I'm sort of proud that my Jon Garland backing has payed off. Have I gotten mad at him? Yes. Have I been utterly pissed at him? Yes. But I never suggested trading him for 'a bag of balls', as a lot of people were a year ago. Just, it's good to see that my backing has somewhat payed off -- now, Jon, go out and make me proud. I'm also proud to say that witesoxfan and Gene were with me for most of the ride. OK -- I'm done tooting my own horn. (runs and hides) -

Ottawa, did you get MLB audio back? I know I'm sounding sort of hypocritical here (by not doing it myself), but can someone do PBP for Ottawa? Like I said, I'm half-in, half-out because of an essay for AP American History. EDIT: LOL, Steve. I shouldn't even have to write it, I forgot to read it the other night. My teacher made me pay... Two page essay. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) Why must people always assume steroids? Jermaine Dye is on steroids too, as his numbers have gone down. Anyone else? Oh, Uribe must be juicing too, 'cause he's doing good now. And Aaron Rowand, too. :rolly And you guys can't prove that I'm wrong. -
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) all in all what your trying to say is that their qb still sucks, and their wrs still suck Green Bay sucks and is on the decline. Can't wait for the Bears defense to dominate Green Bay. Just like last year at Lambeau...

I think we all need to just enjoy this team while we can... My heart tells me that since we have four starters who are average-to-above average, and one who is below average (but has shown signs this season -- Contreras, I'm talking about), we shouldn't sustain any long losing streaks. But, things can happen over the course of 162 games that can change a team. So, I'll just take it day-by-day.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) I agree with half of your post. Personally, All I have to look at is one guys judging defense based on double plays...

QUOTE(Beastly @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) How do you guys like the re-aquisition of Carl Everett now? Now you see why we dealt 6 minor leaguers in 2 years for him? Thomas coming back wouldn't create the best situation. He can't run...he's not fast, and he doesn't fit our plans. I mean yeah, he's a DH, but still...he'd be a good pinch hitter for any club IMO. Thomas, a pinch hitter? I hope that was meant to be in green...? I think you've been listening to Harold Reynolds too much -- "All Frank does is clog the bases". And, to whoever said that Frank would disrupt the 'good' vibes... Are you talking about the vibes of a near .300 OBP for our team? I assume it's a little higher after this weekend, but we need Frank back -- badly.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) That is what I am thinking. I don't think they want to put Brandon on the 40 man until it is necesary, and with the extra off day, it buys them 5 extra days. Yeah -- I don't get it either. If Contreras is only going to be out one or two starts, I don't see the need to call up McCarthy. Why not just call up someone like Adkins who can make a spot start if need be? I realize he hasn't shown a whole lot so far at Charlotte (Adkins), but he'd be servicable. I guess I don't see the need to get the arb. clock started so early...

Same here, Gene. Over/Under on how many times in the series, Hawk says, "You can do anything when you got three 20-game winners..."? Late, late games. That's OK, though, I sort of like 'em anyways. Oh, and how could I forget -- Billy-ball!
