  1. Still four innings left, fellas. This game is by no means over. Settle down, and strap 'er down -- let's get ourselves two more runs, mmkay?
  2. Baby steps, fathom. Before today, he wasn't even hitting the ball -- period. And if he was, he was hitting nubbers or pop-ups. But you could see he's starting to feel comfortable -- and that's huge. We need his pop in the five spot...
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) I'd rather Buehrle didn't retaliate in this game. There's the risk that he'll get ejected, and no need to put on another baserunner. Doesn't the ump have to issue a warning before a guy can be tossed like that?
  4. Woops. Uribe let one get away. Ack ack ack. :banghead
  5. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 02:56 AM) can someone describe that AB? Fouled off a ton of tough pitches. Fastballs down and in, sliders down and away -- real tough pitches. Finally, he gets a pitch, a low fastball I think (down in the zone), and he drives it to short center with sort of a poke swing. Really an awesome AB. Probably the best AB of the year. By any Sox hitter.
  6. Widger has impressed me. A whole lot. He's so much better than Ben Davis... He actually has some strike zone recognition. I'm very pleased with how he's done.
  7. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) Oh boy. If those two starting producing on a consistant basis... Dangerous. As that one rapper would say... (I'm not a huge rap fan, but...) "DANG-A!"
  8. Nice, Rowand! That's huge -- if those two start hitting...
  9. Uck. Dye has zero timing right now. He was way, way late on that 93 MPH fastball...
  10. A-Rod singles in a run. 4-5, 3 HR's, 10 RBI's. Unbelievable.
  11. Yeah, Jim, I heard about that. I was half joking anyways, but forearm surgery or not, I'd still make the deal. But it's besides the point 'cause it would realistically never happen.
  12. I actually like it better when people don't talk about our team, because these people know absolutely nothing about our teams. For example -- the other day, Bill Plashcke said that we're the reason we're winning is because of pitching and defense -- which is true, but the second part was funny -- and he said that we were constructed this way because we needed to fit the constructions of our ballpark. Then, I heard someone (yesterday, I think) said that we were winning in spite of our bullpen. I laughed when I heard that, because other than Vizcaino being left out to dry, our bullpen has been great. Then, just a few minutes ago, Gammons was talking about our bullpen, and said that Damaso Marte is now our closer. Hello?!?! Shingo had a save this weekend, and Hermy had some saves a week ago. It's close by committee. And, what pissed me off most is that Marte is now pitching like he did three years ago -- like he was crap the past two years. I know it's petty things that I'm b****ing about, but I'd rather they keep talking about the Yankees and the Sawks. I enjoy the pub we're getting, but most of these guys don't know half as much as the people here know...
  13. Hmm -- since Dusty loves Neifi Perez so much, think he'd take Timo? Timo + Ozuna for Guzman? Ok, so I shoulda put it in green...
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) I so wish the Sox grabbed Blanton. But oh well. Yeah -- it brings a tear to my eye every time I watch Joe pitch on MLB Extras. He's gonna be a good one, probably a pretty good number three/two...
  15. 2-3 months for hernia surgery? Ouch -- he must have waited a couple months too long to get the surgey. I've had two of them (hereditary), one when I was a lot younger, and one two summers ago. The doctor said that if I'd waited a couple weeks longer, I would have been in a lot of pain, and it would have been really bad. Instead, luckily, I was only off my feet for a month. But ouch -- two to three months. And isn't the only out in that contract if Magglio hurts his knee? So, even though he'll be on the DL fo almost half the season, he still gets his money? If that's true -- then Boras absolutely ass-raped Illitch and Detroit...
  16. QUOTE(striker62704 @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) We love you Frank. But we don't need you. As the saying goes, "If it's not broke, then don't fix it." That's the dumbest thing I've read on here in a long, long time... :banghead
  17. Worst first round pick ever. (Ok, so that's way too far. Still mad about that draft, though... Actually, just about the first-round choice)
  18. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) I doubt he gets those numbers again.. dont get why you are all mad about it, its prolly true I don't think so either, but Jameson came off as a real dumbass in that article -- like SS2K said, basically admitting they were playing lazy on him. I don't see how you could defend Jameson at all...
  19. Ouch -- that's rough. From the little I watched him this year, he was looking good, too. Looked like he had a real nice slider going...
  20. Don't know how many really care, but I'd figured I'd post it anyways. The Admirals made the playoffs (Hawk's farm team), and they're currently down 2-1 in the series. They lost the first two, but won tonight. They've called up Brent Seabrook, so it's the first time our first rounder is tasting some AHL play. Also, Colin Frazer -- I think that is his name, he's the kid we got in the Zhamnov trade -- also got called up. From live accounts over at Blackhawkzone, Seabrook has been the best defender, with solid yet unspectacular play. And Frazer has been doing what he does best, being a major pain in the ass, a real SOB. Anyways, about Game 3 -- Frazer had his professional goal, and Seabrook had his professional point (an assist). I'd really like to the the Ads make it to the next round, then hopefully we can get some of their games on CSN. I've never seen Seabrook play (other than at a minicamp at Johnny's Ice House), it'd be a real joy to be able to see him. And the Wolves are in it too, but I can give two s***s about them... EDIT: And a few more notes that I've just become aware of. Vandermeer, the defenseman we got in the Zhamnov trade, went under the knife -- hip surgery. Out for the playoffs. Babchuk, another first round defenseman, is currently suspended, as he threw a waterbottle into the crowd. Yakubov was a healthy scratch the other night. Really dissappointing, I had high hopes for him. And Vorobiev. That'd be a shame if neither of the two Russians pan out. Eh, here's the link to the game recap and notes. Link to BlackhawkZone
  21. I'll put some stuff up tomorrow. My other AAP is injured or at extended Spring Training; Donny Luc.
