QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) I don't keep up with the minors anywhere close as much as I used to in teh 90s, but do we have anything worth noting offensively in Charlotte right now besides Anderson? Also: Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Person 3.2 7 8 8 3 4 4 19.64 OUCH There's also a reliever who's slowly moving up the charts (if he hasn't already) in Josh Fields -- and not the Josh Fields of last year's first round. Dan, what does Fields throw again (pitches)?

QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) I should add that he will become a bargain for someone as he will probably slip well below the 1st round and some large market team will get great value with his pick. He's not worth a 1st round risk IMO. I don't get that. San Diego would have taken him first easy if Boras wasn't his agent... Maybe not first round value, but definitely (IMHO) a first round talent.
-
We don't have a supplamental pick. We don't have a second-round pick. We gotta grab a good one in the first round. If Drew falls there, I don't care if he's a Boras client -- draft him. He was arguably better than Matt Bush last year (or so I've heard), and it'd be nice to have a legit MIF prospect.
-
DuBois for Timo? I mean, DuBois is going to be trash once summer hits -- 'cause, you know, he's not dark-skinned. And you can never have too many Perez' on your team, right Dusty?
-
I sure hope they don't sign him. I wouldn't mind the Sox drafting Drew, since they don't have a supplamental (sp?) or 2nd-round pick. I'm cheering for neither him or Weaver to sign; even though I highly doubt we'd draft Weaver. Drew would be awesome at #15, though.

I really would have liked to have Zambrano pitching for us this weekend. He'da plunked at least one Oakland batter, MLB threats or not...

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) That pitch to Joe was clearly around the outside corner, whatever though. Maybe it's just me, but no way in hell that ball was "clearly" off homeplate. Jason said it best -- the camera view today, you could barely see homeplate. I don't recall exactly where Kendall was setting up, but it looked pretty damn good to me... Ah, well. Go get the Tiggers this weekend. We're still in good shape. .500 ball on the road is all I really want, and go get 'em at home.

3E8, Uribe's available if in an emergency situation. His doesn't sound near as bad as Ozuna's (injury).

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:47 AM) The end all be all is Reinsdorf. Kenny is a distant second. Maybe Timo should be the one to go but he won't. His guaranteed contract and no minor league options indicates that. Then we look to Willie and Ozuna. Ozuna can play more positions than Willie, has no minor league options left, and is a righty bat. Willie can only play 2B and CF, has options left, and is a lefty bat. Is it obvious now who will be sent down? If money isn't an issue -- which Kenny told us it isn't -- then Timo should/will be the one sent down. G'night, fellas. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:47 AM) I know your not trying to do this but lets not make this a Kenny Williams thread cause that could get even uglier then this one already is. Sorry. I didn't mean to sound that way. I'm totally happy with how he's assembled our team this year -- at least, the pitching side. No complaints from me. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:43 AM) LOL, so because I'm basing my argument on what Kenny WILL DO, my argument sucks? Doesn't basing my argument on what Kenny WILL DO make my argument stronger? LOL. Why, because Kenny is end all, be all? Need I remind you of how many times we've made the playoffs in his tenure? Timo should go down. Not Ozuna. Timo. Not Harris. Timo. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:39 AM) The problem is Harris can't play SS or 3B. Ozuna can, and usually pretty well. I'm not really trying to pin Harris up against Ozuna here. I'm just saying Harris is better than Ozuna -- which totally is opposite of what I said in my first sentence. But -- what I'm really trying to say is I want Timo Perez gone, vamoos, once Thomas comes back. And, if Kenny was really telling us the truth that it isn't about money, then Perez should be gone. His average defense and well-below average offense really don't do the team much good. -

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:37 AM) Jabroni, Do the White Sox have more, IF depth or OF depth? When Frank Thomas gets back will they need more players who can do few things, or more players who can play multiple positions? If Harris is hitting over .300 when Frank gets back, say goodbye to Timo $1mil Perez. SB Which is what it should be. Harris and Ozuna are both more versataile than Perez - the only thing -- and I mean the only thing, that Perez has is an arm. Ozuna and Harris both have better range. Worse arms, but better range, and I'd venture to say are better at the plate. I'll be really pissed if Perez isn't sent down when Frank comes back. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:35 AM) Willie isn't going to have a chance to prove me wrong. Once Frank is healthy, Willie will be starting at 2nd base for the Charlotte Knights. Book it. LOL. Harris is still better than Ozuna, and I don't give two s***s what Kenny Williams thinks -- which is really what you're basing your whole argument on. Timber... -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:31 AM) Jabroni care to tell me what Crede's batting average and Cotts's era is. If you were Kenny they'd both be gone by now too. There's a hell of a lot more guys that you can add to that list. Anyone who's not immediately playing at an All-Star level would've been gone. Like last year? Rowand gone, Garland gone, Shingo gone after his blowup in New York, Konerko -- oh, gone in 2003, Thomas probably gone in 2002. -

I'm mad about two specific things. 1.)Jabroni almost rubbing it mine and Jason's faces, as far as his " THE ALMIGHTY HARRIS HAS STRUCK OUT". That seems awfully pathetic to do something like that. 2.)Jabroni blaming the game on Harris. Saying "he blew tonight's game'. Damn ACT tomorrow. -

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:23 AM) qwerty, what the f*** are you talking about? I'm not all over willie like some others but he did let a ball go under his glove that let the go ahead run score. THat is undeniable. I don't think anyone is disputing that. But, to blame the game on Harris because he booted it is really stupid. We all saw a s***ty effort out of just about everyone not named Aaron Rowand tonight... A few other guys, too, that was just off the top of my head. Aaron played well, and Marte pitched well. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:19 AM) Willie's hitting so far this season does not make up for blowing 1 game, almost 2 (Royals game). I'm sorry. HE BLEW THE GAME?!@?!?!?!??! WERE YOU WATCHING?!?!?!? ARE YOU A f***ING MORON?!?!?!?!?! WILLIE f***ING HARRIS BLEW THE GAME?!?!?!? Mercy... You just lost any ounce of credibility that you had. You just lost everything with that statement. You're a friggin' joke. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:17 AM) Why because I think Willie is horrible and choose to say it? I don't understand what games you guys have been watching. Willie has done his best to blow 2 games for us. Luckily we won that Royals game. He will be playing for Charlotte once Frank is healthy. No, 'cause you're a f***ing tool. You choose to say that Willie is horrible at the worst of times. Badger said it best -- Harris has the same amount of errors as Ozuna (according to Badge), yet more walks, hits, AVG, and OBP. Care to say anything to that? -

Seriously, why post that? You're cheering against Harris? And you call yourself a Sox fan? You're doing that to get a rouse out of me and Jason. Not happening. Harris >>>> Ozuna. Harris has accomplished more in his career than Ozuna ever will. Wanted to get me pissed? You did, congrats. -

QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:11 AM) Harris is not a great defender, he's an average defender at second base, which he wasn't playing, which is precisely the point. He shouldn't be on the team this year, he should be in AAA or with some other team. Harris blew what will be the first of many plays this year if he continues to play shortstop. The Sox need a real utility infielder, not one that Ozzie felt bad cutting. You're a joke.
