  1. Gettys, who's pitching for the Cubbies? Heart of the order coming up - Thomas will bat, I think. So it seems he might be OK. That's good news.
  2. It really wasn't that close, he had the triple in the bag even though he slid, he didn't need to... Jose grounds out, he looked safe to me...
  3. Valentin, Mags, and Big Hurt due up this inning. Lets go Sox!
  4. I don't remember last year and the year before, so those who remember can help me out, but when Joe was going good and was hitting the ball hard last season, did he have this type of uppercut swing or was it more level?
  5. I've been to Tropicana, if you're their, it actually isn't that bad. I saw a Yanks/D-Rays game, and it was a nice place to see a baseball game. I hope Crede gets his swing worked out soon - I don't like the fact that he's uppercutting every swing he takes, I'd like to see his swing more level...
  6. Just grab something woden and knock on it!
  7. Valentin, Mags, and Big Hurt due up in the third. Lets go Sox!
  8. Dick Vaitelle (sp?) in attendence of today's game. HE'S AWESOME, BABY! A DIAPER DANDY!
  9. Hey, is anyone else noticing something odd going on with the FSN Speed Gun? I mean, Marte threw a pitch, I was listening on the radio, Farmer said that the pitch was at 93 MPH, but on the FSN gun it said 97. And, it had Politte had 101 on one of his pitches.... This one time Marte threw a breaking pitch, and it had the pitch at 97. Anyone else noticing that? Either way, a White Sox Winner is always good!
  10. If Scotty (I can't spell his last name, I won't even try) keeps it up, I believe I shall be eating some crow for dinner. I was one of the many who didn't want or understand why he was put in the rotation. Hell, if he could give us 6 innings of 4 runs or less, I'll be happy as hell with him.
  11. I made a two bets with a buddy of mine, I just wanted to know what you guys thought about these: The first one is a combined for two pitchers on each team, Sox and Cubs, for wins and losses. I guess a Win is +1, a Loss is -1. I got Buerhle and Garland, my buddy had Wood and Maddux. What do you think? The second one isn't even Sox/Cubs related, rather a question on the NL East. I bet my friend that the Braves won't win the NL East this season, so if any other team besides the Braves wins it, I win. What do you think?
  12. For one, Buerhle and Wood are totally different pitchers. Buerhle relies on placement and movement, Wood relies on velocity and pure stuff. Wood, IMO, is much more affected for being kept out for a lone period of time. Also, I could be wrong, but I don't recall Ozzie leaving out any of his pitchers so far this year for 130+ - he's left Buerhle out there for 100+, but it's never gotten to 130. LOL, a Cub fan just called the Score, now, this is coming from a Cub fan. He said that he's dissappointed that the fans that get tickets for the game, 50 % of them don't even watch the game and aren't even from the Chicago area, or basically they're Wrigley fans. The pisshole up north has surely proved it's worth these past two days... Oh yeah, I love the Reds lineup, I hope they keep kicking the crap out of that Cubbie pitching staff.
  13. He also threw 121 pitches today. Way to go Dusty, don't learn from your mistakes of yesteryear.
  14. I personally think WHIP is the best stat to judge a pitcher...
  15. I try, real hard, not to be one of negativity or pessimism on this board. Fact is, our bats fell asleep today, and, it really doesn't get any easier tommorow. I fully expect for our team to play a lot better tommorow, but here's what I got out of today. -Willie Harris set the table pretty well today. A nice leadoff single was a good way to start the game, too bad no one drove him home. Wasn't he 2/3? -For all of the contract talk around Frank Thomas, fact is, IMO he is not a selfish player. He continues to draw the walk, when he could just as easily swing at a dumb pitch just because he wants a homer. He'll draw his 100+ walks, and hit 270+. -Fact is, our pitching staff kept us in the game today. I'll take that any day from a game where our fifth starter is pitching (even though I didn't like how Wright pitched today.) -Neal Cotts continues to show some nice promise. I think, soon enough, he will get a chance in the rotation. He sure deserves a chance to start. My only problem with him, is that I think he isn't quite confident enough yet to get out lefties. He seems to do better against righties. -Shingo Takatsu is doing a pretty nice job against righties, I might say. Even if it was just against the D-Rays, so what? He made some of their hitters look pretty foolish, they were WAY ahead of his pitches. Shingo has a real nice pitch that I love it when he throws it - it is a very slow, slow pitch, only about 68 MPH on the gun. It was the pitch he got Julio Lugo to K on, it just kept tailing away from him, and you see it for so long because it's such a slow pitch. LOL, I laughed when Shingo, after throwing his change, came back with his 'heater' of 87 MPH, hehe. -Ill give Billy Koch his props. He kept his pitches down, and got his breaking pitch over. I still want to see Koch given another shot, I feel that he made good pitches vs KC that Beltran just made a good swing on (look at it again, it was down and away, good placement, better swing.) There's all I could really pull out of this game. Our bats died today, we need a winner tommorow, or at least we need to look alive. Hopefully we can hit Zambrano tommorow, he's been pretty damn good so far. That's all for now, Lets Go Sox, Go get those D-Rays tommorow!
  16. Let me first say I still think that Rowand might be able to get the job done. However, if he doesn't: rather than rushing a young Jeremy Reed up to the majors, why not give Joe Borchard a shot? IIRC, he had a hot start to Spring Training (limited at bats) before his injury, and so far at AAA, hasn't he done pretty well so far? He could provide some serious power at the bottom of the lineup, and switch-hitting power at that. I believe he has improved his batting eye. Plus, I really don't want to see Reed rushed up here unless we know, absolutely 100%, that he is ready to handle being an everyday big league center fielder. Eventually, IMO, Joe has to be given a chance to see if he can be what we all once believed that he'd be. Off Topic: I'm watching the Royals/Twins game on Extra Innings. The Sox still don't get much respect, even from the Royals announcers. Talking about contenders, the Royals and the Twins, and their bullpens, and they don't even mention the Sox. Tisk tisk.
  17. lol, I proved and showed facts about the Konerko/Perez post, and all you could come up with was "little s***". So, speak for yourself...
  18. Agreed. Paul Abbot in no way has good stuff, and he definitely doesn't have the best control. I guarantee if our Sox took some more pitches, not go up there and hack at the first pitch, it's a different game....
  19. Lets try to find some positives in this mess of a game today: Our relief core was solid - Cotts, Shingo, and Koch. Nice job there, fellas. Willie Harris was pretty good, 2 for 3. Thomas continues to draw the walk - solid. There's a lot of negative so there's no need to point it out - Paully was the old Paully, hitting the ball then throwing his bat to the ground in disgust.
  20. This guy does not have good stuff, if we take some pitches, he will walk us...
