  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 07:11 PM) To be frank, given where we are at in the season, if he's healthy and able to play at AAA, then once we think his timing is back and he's capable, its time for him to play with the big league club. I'm really interested to hear if any of these hits he's getting are of the inside variety. I remember Ptatc saying that is gonna be the thing to watch as I'm sure pitchers are going to pitch inside to him.
  2. So you leave out Petricka, who has probably been our best arm in the pen and is probably one of the rare locks for next season (maybe Putnam as well) and list the other crap? I'm going to assume you just forgot about him.
  3. Dear god yes. His fastball velocity has decreased, and I've always found him overrated as a prospect, but he's still just 23 years old. Solid secondary pitches, right handed, etc. With that said, no chance he gets past the Cubs. I think Theo has to be chopping at the bit here. Perfect buy low type.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) IIRC Bennett scrapped with some DBs last year too Yea there have been rumors since last year that he rubs teammates the wrong way with his "sense of humor." I doubt he's very well liked with some, if not most of his teammates, but he produces so I'm sure they deal with it. I was more impressed with Cutler pulling the rookie Fuller to the side and telling him not to worry about it. That kind of stuff you didn't see with Jay 3-4 years ago.
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 10:15 AM) Good we need him with the big club. You know your bullpen is bad when we are hoping for Zach Putnam to return as quickly as possible.
  6. Nice outing for Noesi. 7 IP 4 H 3 R 1 ER 3 BB 6 SO. ERA under 5 now.
  7. Tumbleweeds a double away from the cycle.
  8. Flowers actually looks dangerous at the plate these days. A catcher got the two hardest parts of the cycle out of the way.
  9. Other than Eaton, Abreu and Dunn, no one on our team likes to walk.
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 09:36 PM) Is there anything left to say about that guy? Its one of the worst downward spirals of a career on the sox that I can remember... Maybe since Caruso. Started off looking like a budding superstar then just went to s***.
  11. Slayer... For the love of god find a way to do something positive.
  12. QUOTE (VAfan @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 09:08 PM) I'm not on here all that much, so I don't know the history, but I think it's total BS to label a guy like Dick Allen a "troll" when he's been on Sox Talk longer than you have. They have both been here well over 10+ years so I don't think that logic (which I always found b.s. anyways) applies to him. Not like he joined in '11 or something. (Again.. which I find b.s. As who cares when your joined date is) No different than people calling Greg a troll when he's one of the most passionate fans on this board... even if he isn't very knowledgeable about certain things.
  13. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 09:21 PM) As it has been said here, sucks the tigers got a "get out of jail free" card for fielder and got kinsler. Would have been nice seeing verlander , miggy, fielder, and other bad contracts years from now lol We will see what they do with Scherzer. But yea it was just an outstanding deal for Dombroski.
  14. Beltre and Eaton had a moment.
  15. I'm not use to seeing Abreu fail with a runner on.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 08:29 PM) Jen Lada is so charming that I find it tolerable. There are a lot of cringe-worthy moments on there, though Her hotness alone keeps me entertained. Plus, she's a sox fan so that seels it.
  17. Jake Peter goes yard. Meanwhile, the sky is blue...
  18. Abreu with runners on.... everyone has a chub.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 08:26 PM) 18 DPs for Alexei so I feel like it needed to happen It was an outstanding call. I was screaming for Eaton to steal here.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 08:22 PM) Other than his monster free agent year, he wasn't really that great of a hitter until age 31. Neither was Ozzie Smith and he's in for his glove alone. Beltre is probably one of, if not the best defensive 3B that I can remember
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 08:14 PM) Is Beltre a HOFer? Its one of the best questions in baseball. I've literally seen legit 50/50 cases on him. I would put him in, but I can see legit arguments on why he isn't as well.
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 06:43 PM) Welp, why the f*** not Said it during the game thread he would at least be entertaining to watch cause of that heat.
  23. QUOTE (WKamm @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 06:21 PM) Did Chuck Garfien just drop an F-bomb? God dammit I just turned to another channel too.
  24. SoxAce replied to flavum's topic in FutureSox Board
Nice inning for Salgado. Just doesn't walk a soul when he's in. Great to see.
  25. I still like Rienzo. I believe he would be a solid mop up guy in the future. He's just been all over the place as a starter, reliever. I dont think he's the type of guy who should only be pitching an inning to. Same with Surkamp. Problem is, we have too many of those types. As someone pointed out, you can probably name one.. maybe two guys in our pen you can consider locks for next season.
