  1. I remember running into both Carlos Martinez and Ivan Calderon at a nightclub in Logan Square way back when. They came in together so they must have been buds. It's amazing to think that they are both gone now. Minnie was also there that night. RIP Carlos. BTW...who's on the on deck circle in that card? Could it be scammy?
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) Correct. Are you sure? Where did you hear this? If it's true then I have to get tix for the Tuesday game. I bought the 27 game plan just to guarantee opening day. I haven't missed an opening day in 14 years (missed when the new park opened - couldn't get tickets).
  3. Hey Kid Gleason, It's been awhile. How are you doing. I finally got one of those 1917 jerseys (stars & stripes)this year. I love it. Grandstand had a new shipment on opening day - I just couldn't pass it up. Kinda funny, I watched the game today at "Shoeless Joes" in Rosemont. Great Sox bar on the NW side. They have a couple of the 1919 jerseys worn in 8 men out signed by the actors displayed on the wall. I could make out the Charlie Sheen autograph but couldn't make out the other. Thought it was pretty cool. GO SOX!
  4. QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) thank you rangercal Thank you too rangercal, I was just about to copy and paste it.
  5. Hello all, I haven't posted for awhile but I've been reading. I'm 9-1 so far this year, with the 9th win coming yesterday. My only loss, sadly the Saturday night 10-1 Oakland game...damn the effin A's. Here's an article I found in today's Crains Chicago Business, I posted this on the MLB board as well. Tell me what you think, I found some to be true but a lot just pretty typical. http://chicagobusiness.com/cgi-bin/mag/art..._id=24048&arc=n
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 20, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) Good job Steff. 'Que pasa Gordo?' is Spanish for 'What's up, fat boy', he'll LOVE it. If it were me I'd call him a maricon. Steff, start the chant ma -ri - con, ma - ri - con. pronounced: mo (short o as in POsednick) ri (ree) con (as in cone) It pretty much means f**, or questions his manhood. GO SOX... whip some ass!
  7. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) Thats funny, since If I remeber correctly Manuel when he first got here was talking about Small ball and he got "boppers". On the quote of JR likeing KW.. of course you do, he is your puppet, and comes cheap.. A typical JR type guy. I never believe or would ever trust JR.
  8. Hey, YASNY or SoxFanSince72, could I get a copy of that game? Or do you know where I could get 1 from? I'm willing to pay more than just the shipping and tape cost. Let me know. I'm going to see if I can get it put on DVD (ought to be interesting)then I can make copies. Email me so I can keep you infomed on the progress. I would like a copy of the last night game also.
  9. For some strange reason I found myself going thru my old stuff in the attic. I pulled out a couple of boxes and found all sorts of great stuff. I was able to watch the final game at old Comiskey and showed my kids what the old park looked like. I recorded the whole game, pregame and postgame included - couldn't make it to the last game but I was there the night before, the final night game. It was nice to see and hear Hawk & Wimpy again. Does anyone know how to turn VHS into DVD? Also found all sorts of cards (some I didn't even know I had) and progams. I didn't realize I have Sox programs from 1980-1985, then again from 1989-1993, as well as the 93 playoff program. I know I have more recent stuff, including the 2000 playoff program.. if only I could remember where I put it. Thought I'd share that with you - I'd like to take pictures of some of this stuff and post but I don't know how. Maybe someone can teach this old dog a new trick.

  12. I hate JR and his group of investors. I especially hate einhorn. In the 23 years of ownership they haven't accomplished squat (3 meaningless divisions). In 31 years of ownership Steinbrenner has won 9 pennants and 6 World Series, not to mention many divisional championships. We win a division every seven/eight years to their WS every five on average. Whippee! I've been a Sox fan way before jr and his bunch and I'll be a fan after they're gone. Threatening to move to Sox to get his stadium and leading the 94 strike is what made me hate him the most. The best day in Sox history for me will be when they are all gone. Let them enjoy their money in hell.
  13. I don't think he's been mentioned but what are your thoughts on Devi Cruz. He was SF's ss last year. I remember him best with Detroit then Baltimore.
  14. Nothing was better than Nancy playing Na na hey hey and Run around sue back to back during the 77 Southside Hitmen Year. That was classic. I wish she would play more. And I miss Andy the Clown and Max Pavco (sp) too.
  15. I almost bought a shirt from one of the street vendors last Thursday: It had "He Gone" on front and "You can put it on the board in back" in back. I still might get it sometime this year. I ended up buying four shirts for me and my family last Tuesday - we got soaked walking from the parking lot to the stadium. I do like the stuff at grandstand best.
  16. Hey Kid Gleason, You know me from the "other" site (nrthsdsoxf) - I'm like you, the cub trolls brought me here...but this ncorg stuff is pretty interesting. Do you still have my email address? Drop me a line.
  17. Hello all - I haven't posted for awhile...but I've been reading. I was 13 and remember watching the game on channel 44 WSNS back then. I think we were playing the Tigers... I can remember the whole anti-disco thing and the Loop with steve Dahl's insance coho lips ( or something like that). Can't believe it was 25 years ago! Talk about getting old!
  18. Hello All, Haven't been here for awhile. Do you think security at the gate would even allow any anti-JR signs in?
  19. you see, I'm too old to remember how to spell it. Out of sight - out of mind.
  20. Now that's cool, I ought to do that. How the heck do you post quotes?
  21. definately. My first game was in 72, it was a Jersey Day. I got # 15 Dick Allen's. They were the red pin stripes.

  23. Chet Coppack was a sports anchor for WMAQ channel 5 way back in the late 70s early 80s. He and the Gumble brothers did sports way back then. He also had a radio sports talk show in the 80s, sort of like the the Score. I think Dan McNeil (WMVP/ESPN) used to work with him. His famous line was to callers "your dime your dancefloor". I think his roots are Chicago - but he left in the late 80s to go to New York. Haven't heard much of him since. ...for whatever it's worth. Now I've aged myself.
