  1. For the record: Weis is a prick. Hate him.
  2. Unlike most people who root for a college because their parents went there, or they went there... I dont really have that option. My mom went to nursing school at a community college and my dad went to Roosevelt in the city. So, when i was young, I had no real college to root for. I picked ND in football and Duke in basketball because in the early 90s when I was of the age to start picking favorite teams... they were good. I then went on to college and graduated from Columbia College... i think at best we had a Frisbee team. So, by default ND is my team. I dont hate ND, but I am not a huge fan... however I do root for them.
  3. I believe you should become ineligible for Medicaid if you are eligible for and decline your employers health insurance. specifically if you are living at home, not paying any rent and have the government pay for all your food and child care... like my sister-in-law is doing. it's not that she cant afford it... she just doesnt want to pay for it. Ok, sorry, had to vent a little.
  4. Obama's Speech... Where's the stuff about universal health care? Redistribution of Wealth? Communism? Socialism? Homosexuality? Gay Marriage? High Taxes? Social Liberlaism?
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 08:02 AM) I said this before, this is NOT an event run by the City of Chicago. Its run on its own, the budgets are made by the people running it, etc. Yes, of course Daley plays a role, and will do everything he can to make it what he wants it to be. But this is NOT RUN BY THE CITY OF CHICAGO. It's a Daley project. He's running it. He's the front man. He pulls the strings and greases the skids. To think Daley and his cronies will be left out of the 2016 process is, well... I wont be mean and say what i think.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 08:35 AM) Am I the only one that hopes we don't get it? I used to want it, but the more I see how Daley and his guys are running this... give it to Rio.

  8. Our official statement to the parents/students:
  9. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 09:25 AM) I'd like to see a copy of the speech. I bet its just the typical "work hard and get good grades" type speech. People act like he is going to be quoting Lenin and Marx. he'll be quoting the Qur'an.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 09:19 AM) WTF is this country becoming? Unreal. I could never have imagined growing up as a kid that the President of our country would be censored to students. However, they are telling parents that if they want to watch it they would encourage the parents to sit down at watch it online with their children.
  11. I just heard the school I work for will not be televising it.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 08:54 AM) Reagan preached tax cut gospel to America’s students
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 07:22 AM) Awesome user comment in TPM: The answer to the question is 6 hours on Nov 4th, 2008.

  15. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 02:32 PM) Hawk is letting all these years of frustration out in one glorious inning uh huh
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 02:18 PM) FYI - You're the only person left in Chicago still calling him Bacon Slayer. I'm ok with that. That's my name for him.
  17. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) I am ok with Bacon Slayer getting the last White Sox hit in Humpdome history. Oh how i like to be proven a fool!
  18. I am ok with Bacon Slayer getting the last White Sox hit in Humpdome history.
  19. Dueling Olympics oversight ordinances unveiled as IOC decision looms next month
  20. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) Give me the economic boost. Ask Atlanta what the Olympics did for them. Only thing I hate is the excessive salaries the committee is getting paid. That's garbage to me. THe problem i have is that NOTHING Daley ever does comes in at or under budget. So, a $4+ billion Olympic games will easily be $6-9 billion the way he and his cronies run things. So, in the end, the city of Chicago and of course Cook County will be left with a massive tax burden.
  21. I figured it was about to to reopen a 2016 Olympics thread as we draw close to the offical voting day. One month from today we will know who the host city will be: Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro or Tokyo Olympic Committee Report Finds No Clear Front Runner For 2016 Games I think it's a race between Rio and Chicago. My gut says Rio takes it in the end... and I am more than OK with that.
