  1. Can someone provide me a link to a place where I can find a somewhat brief and unbiased description of the current healthcare reform plan being sent forward? I dot have the time or energy to read thousands of pages.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 11:27 PM) How good is Gordon Beckham? He's even caught Derek Jeter's eye.. I’ll admit to being something of a Jeter cynic, but coming from him all of this makes me smile. “The baseball world has taken notice -- starting with Jeter. ''He's playing well,'' Jeter said. ''I got a chance to talk to him a little bit because he's been on second base the whole series. He can hit, that's the bottom line. You throw him in, he pulls it; you throw him away, he hits it the other way. It looks like he's got some pop. ''He hasn't been playing third base very long, but he's been doing a good job there, too, so I'm sure he's going to be here for a long time.'' This might surprise Beckham, but Jeter has been keeping an eye on the kid who wants to duplicate the future Hall of Famer's career on the South Side. ''Yeah, man, he got up here pretty quickly,'' Jeter said. ''But if you have talent, it's hard to keep you down. He's taking advantage of an opportunity, and he's playing well.'' This is what happens after you hit five doubles in four games against the Yankees.” http://www.suntimes.com/sports/deluca/1697...eluca03.article I want to get all your opinion on this. On the Score yesterday, B&B where doing some "speculating" as to who Beckham projects out to be as a hitter. Comparing him to other 3rd Baseman like Todd Ziel and even Ron Santo. They were purposely excluding Hall of Famers to compare him to. But I got to thinking, why not? If you look at what he projects out to be... .300 hitter, 15-25 hr/season, 80-95 RBI/season... only one player comes to mind... Derek Jeter. If Beckham was player for Boston or NY, he'd be called the next Derek Jeter. I also dont think Beckham will play 3rd for life. He'l get moved to SS or 2B at some point. I'm not so sure this isnt a fair POTENTIAL comparison.
  3. This was brought up by a poster n DIgg:
  4. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) Do we have any birth certificate deniers at Soxtalk? If not, we need some. I still say George W Bush was born in Mexico. I've been shown no evidence to say he was American born.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) My latest obsession is laughing at birthers. lol, they are more willing to accept an obviously fake Kenyan birth certificate than Obama's actual one that he released, or the fact that Hawaii's health department and GOP governor confirmed the authentic one (that he could release, but is ignoring them) exists. Same here. Yet at the same time, it scares me s***less that people are actually buying the "Obama's not born in America" crap.
  6. This is classic: Her last claim is great: He isn't a legit US citizen because his father wasn't American. WHAT? All you need is one parent or be born on American soil!
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) The Red Sox fired 2 staffers last summer in a steroid-related investigation of some sort. Details sketchy. MLB is keeping the investigation private.... niiice... sure looks like you are covering up.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 10:08 AM) Because about 50 years ago Kenya and America where one land mass due to plate tectonics. :britishflag:
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) I like the idea that this was made as a parody of birthers to get them to look even more stupid. That's about the only way it makes sense. I hope so. This is going to get fun. The "47O44" Thing is REALLY sneaky. LOL! If it's legit, doesnt it prove he really is "the one" who was predestined to be president? I mean, what are the odds? lol
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 09:59 AM) English is the official language. They were controlled by the British until the 60's. ah ok. thanks.
  11. Also, I dont know what language they speak in Kenya, but I assume it is not english? If so, why would the birth certificate be in english?
  12. There is a new "birth certificate" going around the internet claiming to be the Kenyan Birth Certificate of Barack Obama...
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) Sounds like bulls*** to me. They updated their article:

  15. QUOTE (joeynach @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) I thought u couldnt trade a player on the DL? I thoughts so too, but I bet there is an option for the player to wave that.
