QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 10:42 AM) btw, not sure if it has been discussed here, but I've heard rumors of a Gore/Carter call on Clinton to drop out, either publicly or privately. Not as an endorsement of Obama per-say, but as a "save the party" call. I posted a comment, but no one really got into it. My guess is now that Clinton is saying Kerry and Gore were "elitist" and that is why they lost (even though Gore won in 2000, IMO) the general elections in 2000 and 2004, that sure is going to push Gore to get her out.

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) Instead, the critical focus has been on Barack Obama. McCain's official website features 14 press releases taking on Obama since the first of the year, only 3 for the former first lady. That's all the proof needed right there.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2008 -> 10:59 AM) Or that someone is trying to read into someone's statement just like Clinton did... the only difference I see is that Obama said they are looking for something and Clinton said they currently arent. Same idea, different time frames.

Hillary Clinton's "Elitist" Comments? So, is she saying that when times are bad they look for people to blame? Sounds rather similar to what Obama said.
-
Spin Time! Both McCain and Clinton are saying Obama said small town people TURN to religion, guns, ect when the economy goes bad. The problem? He never said that. He said they cling ( a word he now says he should not have used). Cling is a lot differant than turn.

Clinton: Gore And Kerry Were Viewed As Elitist That's a nice way to piss of a man who hasnt endorsed yet and is rumored to be working to get you out of the race.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) Even if we keep Crede, the only thing that means is Fields is moving to 1st base and Thome/Konerko are on the block. I might be ok with that. -

Long time Pennsylvanian, We are bitter:

Here is how bad this season s for the Tigers: It was projected that 90 wins could win the central. So, that's a .556 winning percentage. If they lose today, they are 2-10. Winning .556 percent of their remaining gamess they'd only win 85 games this year. To win 90 games, that's have to play the equivalent of a 95 win season. Anyone think this team was going to win 95 games? I doubt it.

My perspective on how the candidates would have handled "bitter-gate": Obama: Puts his head down and bowls right threw it and deals with the issue Clinton: Says she "misspoke", Cackle Laughs it Off, flat out lies she never said it McCain: "Well, my friends..." we aren't your friends.

SNL on the Petraeus testimony (Mocks McCain and Clinton, maybe Obama?)

Not sure how legit this is, but: Carter and Gore to end Clinton bid

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 12:24 PM) Is he claiming that middle America embraces religion because they lost thier jobs and the economy is hard? it sounds an awful lot like he is saying that religion is the opiat of the masses, and the only reason people focus on that, and gun rights, etc. is bacuse they are in hard economic times. He is saying that people find another issue to talk about when something is taken from them or they experience hardship. Remember post 9/11? Church attendance sky rocketed. Well, its going back down again.

Interesting Side Note: Obama wouldn't have been in SF making comments about PA if this race were over like it should be.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 10:10 AM) I wonder how much this "bitter" controversy is going to hurt Obama. All I've heard the last few weeks is that Obama's only chance to lose this nomination is if he says something stupid. You have to know Hillary knows this, and they won't let this fade into the background. Here's something interesting. THis is just a snap shot, but on Digg a LOT of people came out of the woodwork to say "hell yea I'm bitter". Yes it's a narrow community. But interesting none the less. He might take a quck hit, but it might help him in the end. He can use bitterness as a talking point to gain some Penn voters.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 11:02 AM) Third, the people that Obama associates himself with... the "weather underground" Been listening to Hannity and Rush huh? Here's the problem with that. The ONLY connecting evidence is that he served on the same board of a foundation as he did. If that's the case. the entire board should be considered potential terrorists. People point to a statement by the Obama campaign that they are "friendly". Here's the problem. I cant tell you how many people i knew in High School or COllege that i completely detested, but I was friendly with because I had to be. Beyond that, there is no connection.
