  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:22 AM) I guess what I really want is for Obama to win PA and take the superdelegate lead, so that this thing can be over and we can get to the general election. I'd much rather be bashing McCain. There's plenty there to use
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:12 AM) Dude. I know this is the thread about the remaining 2 Dem candidates, but, what its become is the 5 posts per day about failings in the Clinton campaign. Do we need to start a seperate thread for those? Because its getting a bit over the top, don't you think? I have been backing off of the Clinton attacks. i just found that article interesting. We have been hearing about how she owes so much money, but I found it odd no one is taking her to collections. Now it appears they might. But, I bet the Clintons pay these guys off just to stop the story.
  3. Will the Clinton Campaign be sent to collections? hehehe
  4. New Poll: Obama- 46% McCain- 45% http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_con...l_tracking_poll
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 10:30 PM) I have always felt Richardson would be great for his foreign policy skills and Hispanic pull. Others have brought to my attention maybe it would be wise to inquire on Bloomberg and hammer the heck out of the economy. I still think having someone so experienced like Richardson may quell some fears of Obama inexperience, even though I question how much it matters in reality. I like either of them. I was going to suggest Bloomburg months ago, but I thought I would get shouted down. As time rolls on, it appears to be more and more of a possibility.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) The guy who asked McCain the question that the Saint responded to with "Why not 100" has an article up at Huffington post reacting to all the people who have tried to allege that somehow McCain's words have been taken out of context, and stating how he interpreted it. The money quote: Last week I saw a couple of Democrats pointing this out and I think it will be a MAJOR talking point in the fall. Basically it boils down to this, McCain will stay in Iraq for 100 years after there is peace and no Americans are dying. To achieve this, he will take as long as it needs and thousands of more lives to reach "peace". Obama had a great line yesterday afternoon when questioning the general and ambassador. He asked them flat out "will Al-Quida ever be gone from Iraq or is it safe to say they are at a level in which the Iraq military force can keep them in check." The general's response: "the latter". Well, there goes a McCain talking point and shows Obama has a better understanding of the dynamics of Iraq than McCain.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 03:32 PM) So what you're saying is, the Dems should allow McCain to win the election in November, because it removes Joe Lieberman from the Senate and puts a Democrat in that seat? Well, it would be nice to see Lieberman gone. What I am saying is I THINK he will consider other sources. Maybe a sitting gov. like Richardson. Maybe a military general. i dunno. I am just putting out a theory.
  8. Pennsylvania Polls are Officially All over the map: Clinton +8.0 Clinton +12.0 Clinton +5.0 Obama +2.0 Clinton +11.0 Clinton +3.0 Clinton +6.0 Tie Clinton +18.0 Clinton +5.0 All these since March 31st!
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) Isn't the Senate supposed to ratify treaties? That would basically be bypassing our laws altogether. and Bush has followed the law when? And yes, they are supposed to.
  10. Democrats just got their talking point. Bidden asked Crocker flat out, "if you had to pick between fighting Al-Quida in Iraq or in Afghanistan/Pakistan, which would you choose?". Crockers response: "Afghanistan/Pakistan" Bush aint gonna like that. Let me give you the background on this question. it might like a hypothetical, but it is not. we do not have enough troops to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan at the same time. So, it was basically a "pick the most important" question.
  11. Looks like McCain may have gotten it wrong again... http://www.ourrepublicblog.com/2008/04/mcc...nnis-again.html
  12. Joe Biden is ripping into Petraeus and Crocker.
  13. VP thoughts: I dont think Obama or Clinton will take a current House or Senante member to be his VP. I do not think the democrats want to remove any sitting democrats from their seat and have the chance of loosing it to a republican in an election.
  14. Interesting note: Sen. Claire McCaskill (an Obama supporter) used an Obama talking point to ask Petraeus about how we are spending so much money in Iraq and have a massive budget deficit while Iraq currently has a budget surplus.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 11:53 AM) So far, honestly the only candidate that seems to "get it" is Obama. He might not have the right plans, at least not yet, but when you listen closely at least he sees the big picture, he knows this is a cluster**** and he knows he needs to be adaptable and change his mind. Two points on this: 1) I have said for a while now, the "success" of the surge has nothing to do with the US. It's Muqtada al Sadr's cease fire that has reduced violence and now that cease fire is on VERY shaky ground. 2) One thing I respect about Obama is that he, as you said, is willing to allow for other points of view. He has said he PLAN is to have them out within 15-18 months. However, he has been very clear if the pull out causes Iraq to implode, we will have to rethink it all. McCain is stay the course and Clinton is "get them out now".
  16. Clinton is giving a speech during the Petraeus thing today. Ask him a damn question! This is not a forum, for speeches. It's a place to ask questions.
  17. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 11:20 AM) The testimony looked about like what I expected. Petraeus seemed like he was being mostly straight-up from what I can tell and there didn't look like there was a whole lot of administration doubletalk/lying by omission. McCain got owned in the Petraeus briefing today. (Ok, owned might be a little strong) McCain asked if Al-Quida in Iraq was still a significant threat in Iraq. (He was trying to find a talking point that Al-Quida is still very strong in Iraq). Petraeus' response: they are still a threat, but it is a greatly reduced threat. He then kept trying to push Al-Quida in Iraq is strong, yes? Al-Quida in Iraq is strong, yes? Al-Quida in Iraq is strong, yes? He was practically BEGGING Petraeus to say Al-Quida was a major threat. He then tried to push the Iran threat right before his time expired. Crocker also added that Al-Quida has SIGNIFICANTLY been reduced in Iraq. OOPS!
  18. 60% of Americans want to set a time table to back out of Iraq:
  19. I have to revive this thread based on this: I just heard on the radio that Illinois just passed a law that would automatically award its electoral votes to the winner of the NATIONAL popular vote. This law will only take effect IF dozens of other states pass similar legislation. Looks like the movement away from the electoral college might be gaining some momentum. It's also a nice end around of getting a constitutional amendment. Here's the info... http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/pages/states.php?s=IL http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/pages/explanation.php
  20. FYI: ARG, a typically pro-Clinton poll (I reference her connections to the owner of the poll company and their Clinton +12 prediction in Iowa), has Obama and Clinton tied in Penn. A week and a half ago they had her +12. http://www.americanresearchgroup.com/pres08/padem8-704.html
  21. but what so ever shall we do with Ramirez?? Oh yea! 2nd Base!!!
  22. Death, get your hands off me you damn dirty soul snatcher.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 06:23 PM) from my understanding, an awful lot of Al Gore's current wealth derives from having been a very early investor in The Google. no no no. He invented the internets.
