QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) I read this thread before I saw the play. I'm stating that for the perspective that I was aware of the contraversy and disagreement this play caused. That being said, here's the way I saw it. Cabrera went in with his feet to bag and his arms toward the fielder. If he would have done the reverse, this call would not have been made. So, my question is, in the grand scheme of things, what the is the difference how he went into the bag? A spike to thigh, a hand to the thigh. After seeing the play, I thought is was a BS call. I was thinking the same thing. MOST people slide hands first and flare out the feet. He did the opposite. Different look, same result.

WOW! Talk about getting BEYOND desperate and stretching comments to an extreme. They are saying Obama said the campaign is the "Bataan death march" and/or it might be a "good thing". The problem... he never said it. Well, not in that context at least. The REAL quote was that he said some people feel the campaign is a "Bataan death march" since in the end the democrats will be dead in the general election. HOWEVER, he was really telling people to just relax and it will all be ok in the end. I really have lost all respect for Hillary Clinton's campaign. They made it seem like he himself thought the race was the "Bataan death march". He does not.

QUOTE(J-MAN @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) Listening to the game on radio was awesome! Stone contributes soo much knowledge of the little things that make baseball fun is amazing. Looking forward to listening the rest of the season with better results. I am sure some of us will learn a lot of baseball from the broadcasts! As I said yesterday: TV + MUTE + Radio Play-By-Play = AWESOME!

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 09:14 AM) Sending a letter isn't going to accomplish anything!!!! I am actually shocked. I though they would brush me off and say something like "we appreciate your input and will look into it further". But he actually asked for more detail!

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 09:03 AM) Over the last few months it seems like overseas support has been leaning towards Obama. At least in the various articles I've stumbled across. agreed. It was my understanding that a lot of the European countries are in favor of Obama. Not sure about their leaders, but I heard the people are. That HAS to be a good thing since most of Europe has disdain for Bush, and by proxy, Americans in general.

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) Link? hard to link to a personal conversation I had. Sorry, i didnt "blog it" immediately afterwards. What I was trying to say was that he personally saw a lot of mismanagement.

QUOTE(bmags @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) NY Times has had a pretty awful couple of years but props on getting this story. I wish someone would write a huge collective story on the contract mess that, for me, has defined Iraq. I heard a story from a guy at my church who has served in Iraq twice that money is thrown at a problem.. it is done poorly and fails... so they throw more money at it to fix the problem that they caused by poor work.

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 05:16 PM) the out call at home and first bother me more than the cabrera slide. those 2 out calls were based upon the umpirte being out of position, which is unacceptable. actually, i think the home plate call he WAS in the right position. He culd have seen if they touch his jersey from that angle in my opinion. he just blew it because Crede was "supposed" to be out.

QUOTE(Phil McKrevice @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 05:14 PM) Rule 7.08(B) Comment: A runner who is adjudged to have hindered a fielder who is attempting to make a play on a batted ball is out whether it was intentional or not. If the umpire declares the hindrance intentional, the following penalty shall apply: With less than two out, the umpire shall declare both the runner and batter out. With two out, the umpire shall declare the batter out. should be applied the the Bake slide too.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 05:12 PM) Now I know how it feels to be a fan of whoever plays UCLA. Tough to win a ballgame when the officials/umpires are playing on the other team. great reference. Hey, those UCLA callers were incredible.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 05:04 PM) What bothers me most is 3 bad calls by 3 different umpires All we need is one at 3rd and we have the whole collection.
