  1. Someone else on this thread said this as well. No local media reported this. I know it was flying around in New York. But, lets not jump the gun here.
  2. ahh don't say that!!!! maybe, just maybe it will...
  3. Actually, you can kind of tell Mariotti is writing this with a huge gulp. Its okay if he is negative, but at the same time he is admitting this is a good team. This is a far cry from this past winter and spring training when he was ranting and raving on how bad they were. This is quite entertaining to read...

    Rainout?

I'm suppose to go, but I hear it coming down now. Its going to rain all day, I really don't know if they'll get the game in. What do you guys think?
  5. I picked them 4th in the division at the beginning of the year, right ahead of the tigers. So I was wrong about the Tigers, at least to this point. But anyone who thought that this is a good team in the offseason (i.e. Harold Reynolds) knows as much about baseball as my 2 month old nephew.
  6. We're movin on up!!! Passed up the Twins and are at number 5!!! http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writ...ings/index.html
  7. Uh just to let you know Harold Reynolds picked the Kansas City Royals to win the AL Central....
  8. Even though Gload just got out, I like the fact he went the opposite way.
  9. That a boy Paulie, good game...
  10. Went to Sunday's game. 6-2 this year, and both loses were doubleheader days. So far 4-0 in single games.
  11. I am tired of hearing ideas of putting Lee or Thomas second. Okay, Thomas walks a lot and takes a lot of pitches, but he is slow. You can't have him bat second... Lee on the other hand, doesn't walk, doesn't wait for pitches, and is slow. Why he ever batted second I have no idea. I don't mind Thomas batting 4th. Lee, fifth is the problem. You need a contact hitter there. At this point, I don't see any Sox player that would fit there. Anyone passed the 4th is doing horrible except for Olivo, but he doesn't play much.
  12. Frank is doing fine.... I am more concerned about Konerko, Lee, and Rowand
  13. Hey its not the end of the world. Just another s***ty game. There are plenty of more chances to win. This will all be forgotten if they win tomorrow.
  14. You know, I've been noticing that everyone has been stealing off the Sox and they can't steal off anybody. Are they slow? Why does Willie only have 5 steals? Again that ump sucked, not to complain, but he did.
  15. Hey, he just hit it in the right spot, I haven't seen anyone hit it hard off of Takatsu since the first game he pitched.
  16. At least we have Shingo. He is awesome....
  17. three reasons why the Sox are losing.... 1. That ump sucks. I couldn't believe those ball calls to menkeviez 2. Carlos Lee sucks. He feels he should try and pull a ball thats way outside, result K. 3. Paul Konerko sucks. Ditto. They need to do something about these two guys. There is more to hitting then trying for a homer every time you bat. They must be smarter if they are going to win this division.
  18. If Thomas keeps up his OBP and walk totals, .454 and 32 BB in 30 games and raises his average to a .290, I don't see how he could be left off the Allstar team. Then again, its in Houston, it will be very tough for him to make it. I don't think Uribe has a shot because of all the AL allstar shorstops. Though wait, Jeter sucks now, pay-rod is 3B, and Nomar has been injured. Interesting... Jeter will probably still get voted in, watch. Sheez, I'd have to say Maggs as an alternate, but thats it. However, there still is a whole month of baseball to help determine this.
  19. I jumped on the Shingo bandwagon the first time I saw him in person. He made Vernon Wells look like a blind kid swinging a bat. He has a nasty nasty knuckle-change, or whatever it is. I actually think he should be our closer.
  20. I was there yesterday. My season record is 5-2. I can't go tonight because I have to coach little league, and can't go tomorrow because my roomates band is playing, dare I say it, at the Cubby Bear. I know I know, I will be carefull, its dangerous there. I will be there Sunday though....
  21. uh, Borowski= bad, even cub fans would say so.
  22. His fastball is in the high 80's low 90's. Thats not closer speeds.
  23. I was at the game as well, Diaz pitched strikes, you can't ask for anything more then that. He fell apart in the 5th, but til then he was pitching great. Getting a lot of ground balls. All in all, I was happy with his start and the Sox won.
