  1. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) He's got a massive contract, and one that the Sox can't afford. What part of his contract goes against my point that the Sox could use him? Send them Linebrink, Teahen, and a couple low level prospects. That only adds 6 mil to payroll.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 01:39 AM) I will be there tonight. Even though both teams kinda suck, still have to love Cubs/Sox in prime time on ESPN. Of course, there will be a certain shiny cup there as well. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 11:08 AM) I am jealous I will not be there to see the BP Cup. They won't present it until after the US Cellular series next weekend.
  3. Pretty cool that Daniel Nava made his first pitch seen ever, count.
  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) There's going to be a LOT of pissed off people in Texas if that happens. It would be a shame to see that rivalry go down the crapper. I blame every A&M coach after RC Slocum for that.
  5. If he was healthy, Aramis Ramirez would fix our 3B problem.
  6. Equal opportunity posting, I say.
  7. If you don't need to win in the regular season in order to compete for the championship, how is that proving difficulty?
  8. Ozzie will go with his gut... and pinch hit for him.
  9. Look, I'll talk to her as well. But she's the future spouse of a Sox minor leaguer. It consitutes a personal attack if you throw negative stats at her about him. She and he both know that he's struggling, there's no point in reminding her. You know I wouldn't single you out if it wasn't needed.
  10. Tex wanted to post this:
  11. So, just a driver's license is needed then?
  12. Hey, a guy's gotta work at work sometime.
  13. When you get sober, post your request here: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...p;#entry2111110
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) You have to win 4 rounds of 4 games in a sport where bounces and good fortune are VERY important and physicality is at an incredible level to win the Stanley Cup. The MLB playoffs are no doubt harder to make, but once you get there, it's nowhere near as difficult to win it as it is in the NHL IMO (although it is tough.) Guess it depends how you look at the question. There's so much parity in the NHL that teams like Montreal and Philly come up and get to the Finals every year.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:32 PM) What's a worse idea is starting the Tyler Flowers era when he has no chance to succeed. There's a big load the White Sox put on catchers. The bench does not call pitches. Flowers is going to have to gain the pitchers trust in addition to making more contact against much better pitching. You don't think that they're capable to do it if need be? Cooper tells AJ what he wants ahead of time, I'm sure. Flowers can and will learn to be a MLB catcher eventually, if that's what the coaches want. You gotta let the babies fly on their own sooner or later.
  16. If draft to pros was as fast in MLB as it is in NHL (or NFL or NBA), I could see how the Blackhawks could "have one over" on the Sox when it comes to rebuilding. Unfortunately, it doesn't work as quickly in MLB without a lot more work and a giant sell-off of very talented guys (see the Marlins and their fan alienation). If the Sox stick to their scouting and drafting style of the last 3 years, the minor leagues will get much better and rebuilding can be a reality.
  17. JR would be foolish to allow KW to quit over Ozzie and his family.
  18. Everyone even halfway decent has a chance to make the NBA/NHL playoffs. Not so much in MLB.
