  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) Same, in my 6th grade class, everyone got mad at me for wanting the Marlins to beat the Yankees. "How could you root for the team that beat the Cubbies!?" Wow. You were in elementary school during the Bartman game? Now I feel old. I hear u liek Southpawz?
  2. With a light hitting LF, no DH, and question marks at 3B, CF, and the bench when it comes to production, I can see 79 wins again.
  3. I've heard that in Texas, some parents protested that the schools were teaching kids to write in cursive. One mom said they were protesting because didn't want their kids to be taught bad language in school.
  4. He'd certainly be as effective as Kotsay.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 10:11 AM) Thomas Jones...Fred Tarkenton. Mr. Tarkenton, meet Mr. Jones. Isn't it "Fran" Tarkenton?
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 09:01 AM) This really pains me to say, but Syracuse is really good. I've been saying they're overrated all year but I think I'm wrong. The Big East is brutal every year. Seton Hall (12-7), Providence (12-8), Marquette (12-8), and St John's (12-8) will probably have no chance to get to the NCAAs even if they win 17 or 18 games. Even UConn, ND, 'ville, USF, and Cincy may struggle to get in. Syracuse (20-1) Villanova (19-1) West Virginia (16-3) Georgetown (15-4) Pittsburgh (16-4) Notre Dame (15-6) Connecticut (13-7) Louisville (13-7) Cincinnati (13-7) S. Florida (13-7)
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) Nick Swisher is on next weeks "How I Met Your MOther". Hope he doesn't ruin one of my fav shows. /Insert partying with Barney/powdered sugar joke here.
  8. Will the "Hall" have issue with Larry Walker and Todd Helton because of the "Colorado Effect?"
  9. I thought that Derrick Rose was the only #1 in Sox jersey.
  10. Kotsay has the Timo number?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  11. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...mp;sportCat=nfl Steps to be a tortured fan: Please. We had tortures in '59, '83, '93, and '00 - along with collapsing in the 50s and 70s. The Cubs had about the same amount.
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) Yes and he's probably the most talented cuban of them all. That guy is really special and I hope someday he deflects. You hope that he bounces off of somewhere?
  13. I'm not sure whether to be happy or offended that MLB Network considers Alexei Ramirez, Gordon Beckham and Paul Konerko to be American League average players at their 2009 positions (SS, 3B, 1B). They did say a lot of nice things about Buehrle, though.

    QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 08:03 PM) Damn. So sorry to hear that. Thank you. You'd think that "he's only a dog", but everyone at home including me has been broken up about it for two days now. Poor innocent thing died and he never knew what happened. He was older but died from injuries resulting from falling down the basement stairs.

    QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 02:27 AM) My little one died today.
  16. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) Win. He is the best manager in winning games the Sox have had since Al Lopez. His winning percentage is within a few points of the great Tony LaRussa and higher than guys like Tommy Lasorda. Say what you want about Ozzie's crazyness, he does do alot of crazy things during the season and during the off-season but he wins more than anyone we've had in a long time. Unless you would rather go back to Terry Bevington, Jeff Torborg, Don Kessinger, Jim Fregosi Jerry Manuel or even tony LaRussa. I kow I'm missing afew but I'm too lazy to look them up for managers since the late 70's. Ozzie's teams have been to the playoffs more times than all of the others combined or at least close to it. Gene Lamont had a better win percentage and Jerry Manuel's was identical.
  17. the best case scenario would be if Flowers lights it up in the Spring and forces KW's hand.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) Carl Everett was the DH when they won a world series. Actually, to be accurate. Thomas was the DH for most of the season. When Everett replaced him, the team started to lose their 10+ game lead on Cleveland.
  19. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) I am eager to see if it works. Fixed. Jones better start turning water into wine and healing the lame if it's going to work.
