Sox sign 1B Matt Dugan
QUOTE(brdog83 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Hello all, I actually played against Dugan in Little League and then again during our last summer in college. I believe he was drafted out of high school late in the amatuer draft, but of course he declined to improve his chances. He may not have the most impressive numbers in college, but he is by far one of the best athletes I've ever seen. Also, you'll also note that he went to Kentucky Wesleyan University, who plays in a WOODEN BAT conference. If I remember correctly they play about 30-40 conference games a season. So you have to adjust for the wood bats. That should give him an advantage at Spring Training. Stay optimistic about this guy, and remember that the SOX are the world champs right now. Being picked up by them has to count for something. Respectfully, BG Thanks for the scoop. Keep us updated if possible. Welcome to the board by the way.

Ryan Sweeney is a monster
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) 2008 LF Owens RF Sweeney CF Anderson That should be the plan. Cheap, defensive, productive? Enough money to resign MB among others. I think it sounds good to me. Sounds good to me.

Everett takes jab -- moves too disruptive?
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) Podsednik, Dye, Iguchi, Pierzynski, El Duque, McCarthy, Vizcaino, Jenks, Ozuna, Blum, and Hermanson were not on the team before last year. Exactly. The special bond the team had at the end of last year didn't happen overnight. It had to evolve.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 10:30 PM) Pitt's going to win this game and set up an interesting matchup with Villanova tomorrow who they did not meet in the regular season. I'm going to be boring and say it'll be a nova-gtown championship. That's gonna be a good one. The best way to attack Nova is obviously inside. Gray and Young will give them problems. Does anybody know why Levon Kendall didn't play?

Deal may mean bye-bye, Borchard
If it happens, it's gonna be kinda sad to see Borchard go. Everyone had such high hopes for the kid. But if we could somehow get a decent reliever in return, do it.

Bears To Target Randle El
The Bears have to do whatever it takes to get him here. The Bears are in a special situation as they have about a 1 or 2 year window to really go for the SB with this particiular defense in place.

Pitt looks almost as bad tonight as they did in the second half of yesterday's game.

Everett takes jab -- moves too disruptive?
I'll respectfully disagree with Evertt's opinion. And I hope people don't start slamming him now. I don't buy the chemistry arguement. Chemistry is something you build over time. The '05 team didn't have the same chemistry in March that they had in October. That had to evolve. Thome, Mack, Vazquez and Cintron will fit in just fine. If we don't repeat, it won't be because of chemistry.

Nova has so many weapons. I think Sheridan is their x-factor. When he plays well, they're as close to unbeatable as any team in the country.

Second lefty update
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) If those guys don't make the big league team, do they go to AAA or do they go back onto the open market? I'm pretty sure Reynoso would go back to the minors. I'm not sure about Almanza. SSH would probably know. He's the Bruce Levine of Soxtalk.

D.J.
For anybody interested, J-Hood is gonna have D.J. on as a guest in about 20 minutes to talk about the Sox.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) Who do you guys like in Pitt/WVirginia tonight? This is a tough one for me. WV certainly isn't playing great ball right now, but I'll go with them.

Report: Clemens to Retire After WBC
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) It's amazing that a 300 plus win, 4,000 plus strikeout, 40 year old plus legendary pitcher has to be such an indecisive attention whore. ^^^

Second lefty update
Almanza and Reynoso were outstanding today. If they can build on today, Lopez might not be as much of a lock as we think he is. Almanza in particular was impressive. He's got great stuff. His problem is simply control.

Busted for sure this time... ?
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 08:18 AM) No you wouldn't. Yes, you would. I realize everybody hates Barry. But it would be complete and total bulls*** to punish only him for something many others have done.

Just heard on the Score that the Bears are gonna make a serious push for Randle El. Everybody seems to think we have an edge with Chicago being his hometown.

NFL Off-Season Rumor Mill
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Daunte Culpepper is about 24 hours from being traded to most likely the Raiders, but possibly to the Dolphins or Jets. I luv free agency.
