I don't take his comments to really mean anything. He's not saying they've signed one of the guys, nor is he saying they've missed out. To me, it sounds like they are comfortable with the offers and expect to be one of the finalists.

Yeah, and it would be cool to have managers like Jim Cornette, Bobby Heenan, Paul Bearer, etc. You could see Jimmy Hart in the Sox dugout with his megaphone yelling at umpires.

It would be amazing if they were able to do that. The silence on Manny since last week is weird. And there's been little to no talk about Harper. One could possibly think they have pulled something off, but I doubt it. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

Let's bring this thread back to life. With the Dodgers signing Pollack, they're most likely out of the Harper race. So that leaves the Sox, Phillies, and Nationals? Maybe a mystery team or two.

Just a quick post saying more info on the Joc rumor was possible and to keep our eyes open.

There was some speculation (not by anyone credible that I could see) that Joc could be part of a 3-team trade with Realmuto being involved, too. Not sure I believe that, but with raBBit's tidbit the other day, maybe a third team is involved.

That's what I'm thinking.

That's a safe prediction every day, I think. Then, when something finally happens we can be pleasantly surprised.

After watching Dark on Netflix last year, we've been looking for other foreign shows to binge. We recently finished Killing Eve, which was great. Also watched Trapped, an Icelandic crime thriller on Amazon. Really good. If you can get used to reading subtitles, I'd highly recommend it. Just started Bodyguard on Netflix a few days ago. Reminds me a bit of Homeland...very good.

Pederson would be a good addition to be a bridge until Robert and others are ready. If a trade for him only involves guys like Fulmer and Bummer, I'm more than okay with that. If the Sox do sign Machado and then trade for Pederson, the lineup looks a lot better for 2019.

I would think there might be some pressure for the Sox to get something done this week before SoxFest. However, it seems unlikely that Machado could be signed in time to have him there, unless a deal is very close and it will be announced early this week. There hasn't been much in the way of rumors for a few days, so I think the best we can expect is an announcement at SoxFest. Realistically, I think it drags on for another couple weeks.

I took a chance on the show when I was looking for something to watch. I was hooked right away, and I agree that it got better as it went. Thankfully Amazon picked it up after SyFy cancelled it.

This may have been discussed before, but since news has been slow and we've been talking a lot about the future of the team, I was wondering to myself last night about first base. It's not a position that is worried about much, and I think we care more about the offensive production from the position than the defensive. We've seen how important a solid first baseman can be. Abreu, even if he is extended, would most likely spend more time as a DH over time. Alonso most likely isn't with the team beyond 2020. So, is Gavin Sheets the future at 1B? Or do we believe there are plans to put someone else there whether it's through trading or signing? Or is 1B not a position of worry, and the Sox believe they can keep it filled with 1-2 year rentals?

But he'll be our dirty player...hopefully. We all loved AJ, and we'll love Machado, too...hopefully.
