Russian Doll on Netflix was great. It's only eight 30-minute episodes. I suppose I would classify it as a dark comedy, but it's not light at all. I gets pretty deep, especially toward the end.

I agree. The pitcher hitting almost always leads to an out. The only time strategy comes into play is when there is at least one runner on and less than two outs. Otherwise, most pitchers go up and there and flail wildly or watch the strikes go by.

Some of those are going to be hard sells. I'd like to see a universal DH, only to streamline things. I like the idea of a 3 batter minimum...that would help speed the game up a bit. Those are the two rule changes that I don't expect to be agreed upon. I could see some of the others happening, though.

I was watching The Kids Are Alright, and it took me three episodes to figure out that the father is Abraham from The Walking Dead. A completely different character.

Bring them to Navy Pier. Have both of them, Rick Hahn, and a cameraman on the Ferris wheel. When it gets to its highest point, Rick will flip a coin. "Heads it's Mucho Machado. Tails we have a Happy Harper."

I was looking at the Padres farm system. It looks pretty good. Harper would be a good fit for a team that on the verge of competing for years. The Padres and Sox both fit that idea. But how much would the Padres truly be willing to commit?

Many posts ago, bucket (I believe it was bucket) said the Sox felt good about where they were with Harper. This latest information is encouraging that the Sox are at least still at the table. You'd have to think the Sox have a good chance, at least monetarily. We'll see about where he wants to play.

And they don't need to risk losing their sources. These guys have connections and share as much as they are comfortable with. Share too much, and they could lose that source.

I don't take his comments to really mean anything. He's not saying they've signed one of the guys, nor is he saying they've missed out. To me, it sounds like they are comfortable with the offers and expect to be one of the finalists.

Yeah, and it would be cool to have managers like Jim Cornette, Bobby Heenan, Paul Bearer, etc. You could see Jimmy Hart in the Sox dugout with his megaphone yelling at umpires.

It would be amazing if they were able to do that. The silence on Manny since last week is weird. And there's been little to no talk about Harper. One could possibly think they have pulled something off, but I doubt it. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

Let's bring this thread back to life. With the Dodgers signing Pollack, they're most likely out of the Harper race. So that leaves the Sox, Phillies, and Nationals? Maybe a mystery team or two.

Just a quick post saying more info on the Joc rumor was possible and to keep our eyes open.

There was some speculation (not by anyone credible that I could see) that Joc could be part of a 3-team trade with Realmuto being involved, too. Not sure I believe that, but with raBBit's tidbit the other day, maybe a third team is involved.

That's what I'm thinking.

That's a safe prediction every day, I think. Then, when something finally happens we can be pleasantly surprised.

After watching Dark on Netflix last year, we've been looking for other foreign shows to binge. We recently finished Killing Eve, which was great. Also watched Trapped, an Icelandic crime thriller on Amazon. Really good. If you can get used to reading subtitles, I'd highly recommend it. Just started Bodyguard on Netflix a few days ago. Reminds me a bit of Homeland...very good.
