  1. You were backing LaVine before most, so you deserve the credit for the call. Early this season it just seemed he took a huge leap so I went all in. He always had the athleticism so if he adds elite shooting he is a star. Even crazier is he doesn't get star calls yet, he has second lowest ft attempts of the top 10 ( behind Curry). Obviously he still needs to stay consistent and prove that he can repeat these numbers, but its been a hell of a start.
  2. Fun stats of non PF/C LaVine has highest fg% of top 10 scorers and has the top 3 pt fg%. Im really starting to think maybe we can trade him for a lottery protected first. I mean no way do you want to keep this guy long term. (There is still room to get on the bandwagon Ace.)
  3. Read June Jones write up on Mac Jones, he thinks he is the best QB in the class. https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-draft-trevor-lawrence-qb-3-thats-how-one-former-nfl-coach-grades-him-205523234.html June Jones coached Warren Moon, so that is a crazy comment. The article is pretty interesting.
  4. I cant see why Hornets would do that. The Hornets need young talented players, and unfortunately having the last name Young doesnt really qualify. Im not a huge Ball fan, if you really want him on the Bulls I think the better move is try and sign him as a RFA. Even if the Bulls were to trade for him, I still think hed want to test FA. How much is right of first refusal worth? I woudlnt give up a 1st round pick and I just dont see what other players match. It makes 0 sense to trade Lauri, because then youre giving up right of first refusal on him.
  5. He specifically mentions: And also mentions Rodgers/Love, which are both first round picks. You cant compare the Bears to NE. NE over that time period consistently traded down or out of the first round to accumulate picks. This is the exact strategy that I have been saying the Bears should do. If you trade down and accumulate more picks, then you can do this. The Bears do the exact opposite strategy, its not compatible. The Packers have 1 hit for the strategy in Rodgers who was a late 1st round pick when Farve was a lot older. They also have arguably wasted a bunch of picks on QBs that could have possibly gotten them another championship. The Bears under Pace never had excess picks, because he traded them away for his guy. They were always drafting from behind because they almost never had all of their picks. And they also spent picks on guys like Foles. Its just being a horrible GM.
  6. I already pointed out Murray Rosen, even though that is entirely different as Murray was a higher pick than Rosen, and they were not drafting to Murray to back up, they were drafting him to replace Rosen. Wentz- Hurts is somewhat comparable, but it was longer time and also it resulted in the Eagles taking the largest dead cap in history. What does a "luxury" pick mean? It means that when you have a fully assembled roster, you dont have any real needs, and you can pick a player who doesnt necessarily fit a need but may have value over time. Lets not be so hasty to say how great the Packers are, Jordan Love by most accounts isnt a starting QB and they wasted a year of Rodgers prime by not getting him another WR. It would be a lot of work, but Im pretty confident in saying that no team has drafted 21st/2nd round QBs in a 2 year span and won a Super Bowl (you could probably push this out to 3-4 years). The closest I can think of is Montana and Young, but Young wasnt drafted by the 49ers. If you were even going to come close to something like this being feasible for the Bears, the Bears would need to have traded down from #3 to get extra picks. It was pretty impossible to draft another QB after Trubisky in 1 or 2, when the Bears traded so much for Mack.
  7. QB is a luxury pick when you draft Trubisky at #2 and gave up more picks to move up 1 spot. If you then draft another QB in the 1st or 2nd round the following years, it basically is an admission you screwed up your first pick. Its impossible to really go back and check, but Id doubt there are many teams who drafted a top 5 QB and then picked another 1st or 2nd round QB in the 3 years after. (Edit) The one I can think where a team drafted 1st round qbs close together is Rosen and Kyler Murray but Az was giving up on Rosen. Wentz and Hurtz is somewhat close but that's 4 years.
  8. The main problem is that because Pace trades away draft picks so often, they dont have the draft capital to make "luxury" picks. They are constantly drafting from behind and having to use their picks on "needs." Its really bizarre because (imo) the exact opposite strategy, trading down to accumulate more picks, is the better strategy.
  9. Spot prices in the Texas market were spiking, not North. The suppliers were delivering the already sold gas to the north for prices that were already fixed. They would have made more money breaking their contracts and selling local. But obviously there is a steep cost for breaching a contract. And Texas should keep their power grid stable and keep ample reserves. It is in the best interest of the US. Federal tax payer dollars are being sent to Texas, and some of that money is being allocated to pay for the electricity bills. No one wins when any state fails to be able to provide basic necessities. No need to say thanks to the rest of the US for the bailout, but maybe Texas politicians will have a little more of a "do onto others" attitude when another state faces a similar calamity. Or maybe the Texas politicians will go to Mexico and say this was all the liberals fault. /shrugs
  10. The article doesn't say that it was for higher profits. They likely were shipping up north because they already had a contract to ship the fuel and didnt want to breach it. Those type of contracts are likely negotiated months in advance. So are we for or against govt interfering in private company contracts, I forget where Texas stands on this one.
  11. You short selling Mercedes? Im going to buy up all the inventory and diamond hand it to the moon.
  12. Wentz didnt want to play here and the Bears were smart to pass on that drama.
  13. https://www.republicanleader.gov/whats-up-in-texas/ The policy of Texas is not to care. The fault lies in not having enough non-renewable sources of energy in Texas. If only Texas had more natural gas, coal and nuclear power everything would have been fine. The problem is wind and solar power. And if you arent willing to invest money to protect your system, why should the federal government using federal tax payer dollars pay billions of dollars to bail out Texas? No one is trying to "dunk" on Texas, but they have spent quite a lot of time telling everyone else how they are so much better and independent.
  14. It would be really unlikely Watt plays here.
  15. I can see him wanting to play for Packers or Steelers. His wife plays for Chicago MLS team, but I think hed prefer to go to a contender as he already has plenty of money.
  16. Devils Advocate: Since Giolito's family isnt in dire need for the money he doesnt need to try and completely maximize his pay and can choose where he feels comfortable. Its impossible to tell someone's motivation unless you know them personally.
  17. Her character was completely replaceable.
  18. Bought some Tilray and Aprhia since they were down 30-40%. Already had Canopy and Cronos.
  19. Im new to the NBA, do you think we can get some lottery protected firsts for this Zach LaVine player?
  20. Here you guys go: 52. Liam Eichenberg OT Notre Dame 61. Trey Smith OG Tennessee 97. Kyle Trask QB Florida 108. Rodarius Williams CB Oklahoma State 135. Aaron Banks OG Notre Dame 205. Tariq Thompson S San Diego State 219. Jimmy Morrissey OC Pitt 224. Dez Fitzpatrick WR Louisville 230. Jonathon Cooper EDGE Ohio State 2022 LAC 2nd 2022 LAC 3rd 2022 WAS 3rd 2022 BUF 3rd 2022 LV 4th 2022 ATL 4th The first sim I only did 1 round and got a better trade at 20 because somehow Waddle was there. But Id say this draft gives the Bears a good foundation for next year when they would have added a bunch of picks.
  21. Im not really jumping to any conclusions about what is going to happen after covid. I think there are arguments to be made on both sides. My personal belief is that sports viewership has some connection to the ability to watch in person. I know that doesnt seem to correlate, but I personally have felt less connected since covid happened. Maybe that is permanent, maybe it comes back. For whatever reason, none of these seasons seem "real" to me. So I am finding myself less engaged.
  22. I think Gruden wanting to trade up for his own QB is plausible. The only problem is that youd have to wait until draft day to make it happen and then basically do it as a 3 way trade right when the pick Raiders are trading for is up so Gruden makes sure he gets his guy. Otherwise Im not sure that they have the trade capital to get #2, which is what they would need to ensure that they get whoever they want after Lawrence.
  23. I meant the Bears could have had Winston last year on a 1 year deal and not given up anything for Foles. They would be in a much better position right now, because even if they went after Wentz they wouldnt need to dump Foles contract. Its just a pattern under Pace. The Bears pay up for QBs and then have to pay even more for another QB to try and make up for the original mistake. As of now the Bears have traded: For Trubisky 2 3rd round picks and a 4th round pick. One of the picks the Bears traded was used for Kamara (tough break for 49ers) For Foles Bears traded 4th round pick. If they now trade for Wentz and use a 1st, that would be something like 1 1st, 2 3rds and a 4th.That doesnt even count in how much money they have taken on.
  24. Even if the Bulls have to overpay LaVine it may be the only way to move forward. At some point you have to prove to FA's and other star players that you are a team that will pay top dollar. I was pretty hard on LaVine prior to this year, but he is playing at a different level. He is the type of guy you can take a risk on. He is only 25.
