QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 01:15 PM) And maybe you shouldn't attend a $50k/yr private school for that liberal arts degree. The problem is, too many of these students go into these expensive schools, get degrees that don't have good prospective jobs, and yet still complain about college costs and the economy. Why shouldnt I attend a $50k school if I can pay for it? Who are you to tell me how to spend my money and what I can spend it on? People complain about everything. People complain constantly, so we are going to change things to stop people from complaining? Thats ridiculous, so far no one has explained to me why we need to coddle these kids. Its so frustrating, from preschool through law school they just coddle everyone. Such a waste.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) Its purpose has obviously become to prepare young people to succeed in the world. What exactly are you trying to argue? That college should be some place for people to go off and ponder and debate high-level ideas, with no real-world applications? Im arguing that college should be whatever the person wants it to be. If I dont want to go to college to become prepared for whatever you consider "success" to be, then I shouldnt have to. I should have the freedom to take whatever classes I want, get whatever degree I want and do what I want. If that does not make me prepared for the real world, guess what, that is my problem. Why should I be punished because other people need their hand being held? Success is different for everyone. Success to me isnt about how many 0s are in my paycheck, success to me is about making a meaningful impact on the world, an indelible stain that you did something for the better. So yes, the point of college is to go to a place where hopefully for the first time you are meeting people who are equally thoughtful and intelligent, where you can actually test your mental might, instead of just bludgeoning weaker opponents. College is a place where hopefully you have professors etc, who challenge your preconceived notions and make you wonder what is really possible. If America is to succeed it will not be because we our society is perfect efficient machine, it will because of the creativity that flows from freedom. No real world application, how do you know unless you try? I guess I just dont think that there is a problem with getting classic liberal arts degrees, but you have to be getting them for the right reasons, you have to be okay with the fact that you may not be the richest person on the block.

Then what is its purpose? You cant teach someone how to make money.

Just call the second one Coco. Cant have 2 T-Bones.

It happens once in a while. During a trial you can get some odd moments, people will just flat out lie over nothing.
-
For this trial its irrelevant. From the beginning I thought McQueary was not being 100% forthright about the situation. This may be an issue if none of the victims stepped forward, but when youve got X witnesses who are all going to say Sandusky messed with them, its really going to be hard for a jury to believe that they were all lying, especially with the strange hand written messages from Sandsuky. Plus its unlikely Sandusky takes the stand, so there really is going to be little defense. Mainly just that these kids are making it up and it didnt happen.

Its not the system, its the people. Most American's have amazing opportunities to do whatever they desire. They have the freedom to make mistakes, choose s***ty majors and drift through college expecting that there will be a handout at the end of the day for the money they spent. Well that just isnt it how it works. As for making things in High School shifted, what does that even mean? We start weeding out the intelligence class versus the worker class? College was created to learn high level ideas. It wasnt created so that people can have a well paying job. At some point that has been lost, you should go to college to learn, not a stepping stone to making money.

I dont know, If I could predict the future I doubt Id be sitting at work right now. But you can stop a criminal in other ways, death isnt the only answer, because if it is, then society is more lost than I thought.
-
We have a fundamental difference with our belief in humans. I believe humans are imperfect and prone to mistakes. A bullet is also a cheap price for an innocent victim who is killed when someone misses their intended target. 1 innocent life is not worth 700 criminals.

Miami shot about as good as they could to start and they couldnt put OKC away. They are going to need to come up with some changes because OKC is just more versatile and Miami doesnt have a lot of answers.
-
Lebron faces an immediate double in the post and he doesnt have a huge size advantage against OKC.
-
Lebron doesnt have the jump shot Durant has. Miami is being broke down on the dribble and giving up wide open jump shots or easy lay ups.
-
Durant is just so smooth on offense. It really changes Miami's entire defense when they cant just rely on being more athletic.
-
OKC just needs to keep playing smart, Miami just not playing with good rhythm at all.

What type of food? If he wants sandwiches, I suggest Lucky's Sandwich Co (as seen on man v food). http://www.luckysandwich.com/ If he wants thin pizza I suggest Domi's (used to be Ian's but recently changed, its got interesting flavors and was from Madison). http://www.dimospizza.com/dimos_pizza.html There are a ton of places down Clark Street and in the area. There is also an Asian place south of Addison on Sheffield that usually is considered pretty good (ive never been there myself).

2012-2013 NCAA Basketball thread

Anyone who would pick Iowa over Wisconsin has issues. I mean Iowa literally tried to pay me to go there. -
Its not the degree that makes the person, its the person who makes the degree. As for money, like Rock said, you cant take it with you. I dont really care that much about it, I make enough to live what I consider is a fun life, and that is all that really matters.
-
I think life imprisonment will be more fitting.

They actually played 2 new songs, Full Stop and Identikit. Which may indicate another album. It looks like that may have been the debut for Full Stop.
-
Durant on Lebron puts to much risk on Durant getting foul issues and having to sit on the bench.
-
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) I don't think you can do that for two reasons... 1) Then who guards Wade? Westbrook? I don't think you really want Durant on him. 2) Lebron got a bunch of baskets against Boston where he got down low off a cut, curl or even a few post-ups where he just shot an easy layup over his defender. Westbrook will play Wade some, Harden can play Wade. It just depends. I just think Ibaka cant guard Lebron on the outside, which will lead to a lot of breakdowns on defense.
-
I think that Thabo/Harden will guard Lebron. OKC has a good interior advantage so its unlikely Lebron will want to post and get an immediate double.
-
Radiohead was good. Im not their biggest fan, but they did play both songs that I wanted to hear (Karma Police and Reckoner), they played a lot from In Rainbows which I was a fan of.

Thats because Magic was overall the better player: Magic's line was 19.4/ 7 / 12.5 Stockton's was 17.2 / 2.9/ 14.2 1.7 assists is not greater than 2.4 points and 4 rebounds.

Ha that post is the exact problem with a Roger Waters show, the soul of Glmour is gone. But brilliance is catching fire, once its gone it may never come back.
