  1. Id probably go the safe route and pass on the HS pitcher with arm problems.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 06:37 PM) It doesn't matter where LeBron went. His future reputation & legacy depends on how many championships he wins. That's how it works in the NBA more than any other sport. If Lebron stays in Cleveland and wins 1 Championship people are saying hes the best ever. If he wins 1 in Miami, people are going to say "So what"
  3. This is why I hated Lebron going to Miami, you could see that it was going to kill Lebron's reputation unless they won a bunch of Championships.
  4. http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/...ding-on/1233133 Here is an article on some SYG research in Florida. It doesnt really take a side, more just shows unintended consequences of the law.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) I don't think going to the Lincoln Square Mai Fest is a good idea with or without a dog. I go every year, its like 15 minutes from where I live and German beer has high alcohol content, which leads to fun.
  6. Because you were just complaining about people saying things like My Iphone when they own an iphone My northface when they own a northface My bmw when they own a bmw.
  7. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 04:06 PM) As soon as I found out Kleenex was a name brand, I stopped using it. Yes, I do say "tissue". Frisbee is a hard one for me to remember to not say, but I make a conscious effort to say disc if i can remember, but I admit I rarely remember that one. Wiffle I actually had no idea. I just learned someone, and will try to make an effort not to say it, although I'm not sure what the generic term would be. "Do you want to play plastic ball?". But the difference there is that everyone KNOWS the segment of the market these apple products belong to. They know what an mp3 player is. They know what a laptop is, they know what a computer is, a cell phone, etc. Apple didn't invent any of these things, they were the first to make any of those items. Why do you care? If I am going to play some PS3, I call it a Playstation. If Im playing Nintendo, I call it a Nintendo. It seems you are pissed at people for properly labeling their items.
  8. Yeah you should definitely have a talk with her about glass plus, thats just wrong. Maybe Im a smug bastard because I always order "Coke" even if Im fine with Pepsi. Damn my cruel Coke overlords and there $1 soda versus Shopper's Choice at $.49
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) No, they do make quality products, but it's the attitude that comes along with the people who buy the Apple products that annoys me. Anyone who only refers to their phone as an "iPhone" instead of a....phone, cell phone, etc, is pretty much dead to me. "Anyone have a phone I can borrow?" "Yeah sure, take my Iphone!" or "Where is my iPhone?" or "Can I borrow your iPhone?" regardless of what kind of cell phone they actually own. It just bugs the s*** out of me. You might be surprised how many times I have had to correct people who think an ipod and an mp3 player are rival things. Who say "Mp3 players suck, get an ipod". Makes me automatically think they are the dumbest people alive. And that's not it, it's also the smug, elitist attitude. And I go to a "Mac heavy" college, so I constantly run in to these dumb people. Do you get pissed when someone asks you for a Kleenex? Perhaps you also hate people who use "band-aid"? Damn you smug Kleenex bastards!!!! I can only afford facial tissue!
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) I'd say MLB is the least dictated by the officials and in reality they have tons of potential subjectivity. In general, MLB has the best refs/umps followed by the NFL and then NBA (dead last). I did not grade the NHL as I don't know enough to give a grade. I think the difference is restraint. NFL especially tries not to have its games turn into flag fests. You can call a bunch of tick tack nonsense, but most fans would rather see the game and only have fouls when it is egregious. The other problem is foul trouble, which you dont have in MLB or NFL. Even if Peyton Manning has 10 false starts, he still gets to play the game. To get thrown out of a NFL game you have to do something terrible, not just have X amount of fouls that day.

Im not saying any dog owner in this thread would approve, although you never know. The dog was really nice, I just felt terrible for the dog. That place is a s*** show and you have your dog laying on the ground eating garbage and drinking beer. Its even different if you just bring it for a minute or 2 and leave, but this guy was there to pick up chicks with his cool Huskie.

And since this is the pet thread. I was at Lincoln Square Mai Fest Saturday, and one of my biggest pet peeves is bringing a dog to an outdoor festival that is cramped like that. There was this one guy who was pouring beer on the ground for his dog to drink, letting his dog eat garbage (he said it was okay because the dog was old) and just letting his dog get trampled on. I just dont understand it. Just like the people who bring their children there. Under what circumstances is this a good idea. I am not considered a responsible person, I take many risks, but you dont put your kids/pets in harms way.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) I do, however, enjoy one of my neighbors cats. Both of their cats are always outdoors during the day, and then sleep in their house at night, but one of them, Jimmy, is very dog-like, which is why I like him. He responds to his name and will come if you call him over. He is very friendly and likes people. He used to wait outside in our yard for me when I would get home from HS back in the day. Their other cat, Lizzy, who is a b****, likes to hang out in our yard. She hops the fence and lays by our pool, and then as soon as we come outside, she freaks the f*** out and jumps back in to her own yard. Very skiddish and hisses at our dog, even though our dog would probably only lick her face. Cats have individual personalities, like people. Some are shy, some are friendly, much of it depends on the type of environment they were raised in, or whether they were ever in the wild. The cats actions may not make sense to you, but they could be perfectly logical.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) cats are fine for a weekend with enough food and water. I know, but I still get nervous as they are my responsibility and if anything were to happen to them it would be my fault. If I go out of town for a weekend I usually have a friend stop over at least 1 time a day just to make sure that they have not gotten into an mischief, etc. Always better to be safe.

I dont do those things. I live in a high rise in Chicago and 90% of the places I go on a weekly basis do not allow dogs, including my apartment, which is where I reside. If I had a different lifestyle where space was not an issue a dog may be a consideration, but when you live in an apartment (even if its large for your city) its not an outdoor environment for a dog, which is something that they really need. Conversely my cats are absolutely fine staying indoors all day.

haha I like dogs, they are just too time consuming for the style of life I lead right now. I feel guilty leaving my cats when I go out at night and they have 2 booda domes, 2 water bowls, a water fountain and free rein of an apartment.

I have cats, they solve most of these problems. Dogs are just a lot of time and commitment, plus I could never crate anything.
  19. I think its because he wants to be MJ, and MJ beat teams with jump shots, not bailouts by refs.
  20. Well hopefully the Sox can pull this out, Im already a hour and a half late so I probably should get going.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) I can't complain about a ton of things with the Sox this year, but for the life of me, I do not understand Robin's fascination with Will Ohman. Ohman is the only pitcher that is worse than Floyd at this point.
  22. Okay now its time to b**** haha, Damn you floyd why do I try and believe in you.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 04:06 PM) So can we blame Gavin for the fact that the Sox should be going for their 15th win in a row? On every good team someone has to be the goat
  24. Right people are b****ing about one of the few bad spots, instead of enjoying how regardless of what Floyd does the Sox are going to find ways to win games.
  25. Yeah b****ing about Gavin. Its 3-3 in the 3rd, Ichiro has 2 hrs (great players sometimes have great games). Pitching can be a fickle b****, even for top of the line starters, Gavin is what he is, but likely will keep the Sox in the game, which is all they need to win.
