  1. I dont think Peppers technically plays either L or R de. Basically Peppers can line up at either side depending on which tackle he thinks he can beat more. My guess is that the Bears draft a big dt/de type to put in the mix for run downs. They then use McClellin as a back up lb on run downs (or maybe he wins a starting job) and then put him in the mix for DE on rush downs. Reading the BSU boards they said McClellin sometimes would line up at nickel back, if that is true it shows he has pretty good athleticism. At the end of the day, with how thin the Bears are at LB/DE, it did make sense to pick a guy who can potentially play both. I just think most Bears fans were somewhat shocked as this is the exact type of player the Bears generally dont draft.
  2. Dejuan Blair had no knees or something crazy. (yeah just checked he has no acl in either knee). I prefer Taj.
  3. Im not sure if anyone is being considered an "undercard". I can really only find information on Wisconsin- Minnesota (as that conceivably is the bigger game as its between 2 teams who have 11 NCAA championships between them). Supposedly Wisconsin is getting paid between $200-$250k to come (Wisconsin has one of the largest hockey stadiums of any NCAA team, Kohl Center holds 15,325) where as Notre Dame can only hold 5,000, Ohio 2,850 and Minnesota 9,305. From all accounts they are relying on a large Wisconsin turn out because Wisconsin sells out 15k and its replacing a home Wisconsin game (hence the payment to Wisconsin). Im sure that as its Chicago there will be a good amount of ND fans, ND hockey just isnt really comparable to Wisconsin though. I guess Im just not sure if the noon game or the late game is the "undercard".
  4. Not sure where else to put this but http://host.madison.com/sports/college/hoc...19bb2963f4.html Wisconsin v. Minnesota at Soldier Field next year.
  5. I went to some BSU forums and they are saying McClellin even played nickle back for them. My only concern here is that the Bears have a GM who scouted for a 3-4 system which the Bears never run.
  6. That could definitely be possible as generally the top guard will go after 2-3 OT's.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 10:38 AM) There have only been 2 taken in the first round in the last 15 years or something. This cant possibly be right, Zietler and Decastro were drafted in the first round this year, and there has been other guards in the last 15. Unless you meant there has only been 1 draft where 2 were taken in the first round.
  8. The problem with drafting guards is that most of them are unlikely to be able to play tackle, where as if you draft a tackle, they may be able to play guard. When you look at the linemen left, there are a good number who could be interesting.
  9. As for the Bears pick of Shea McClellin, I think the biggest thing yesterday was shock. I just did not go into the draft thinking that the Bears would pick a LB/DE hybrid due to how Lovie Smith runs the defense. That being said, I actually do like LB/DE hybrids who can play LB on rush downs and then DE on pass downs. Maybe the Bears will grab a bigger D-Lineman later and have a few more interchangeable parts for the defense. As for the 2nd maybe Konz will slip to the Bears, but I really am not as concerned about the O-line as most. Before the injuries and Hanie, they werent that bad.
  10. People keep saying Reiff is a LT, but if the Bears wont put Carimi there, I cant imagine theyd put Reif there. Carimi: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dspro...1&genpos=OT Height: 6070 Weight: 314 40 Yrd Dash: 5.18 20 Yrd Dash: 2.80 10 Yrd Dash: 1.78 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 29 Vertical Jump: 31 1/2 Broad Jump: 09'01" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 3-Cone Drill: 5.02/5.12/5.24 40 range before Combine Reiff: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dspro...2&genpos=OT Combine Invite: Yes Height: 6056 Weight: 313 40 Yrd Dash: 5.23 20 Yrd Dash: 10 Yrd Dash: 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 23 Vertical Jump: 26 1/2 Broad Jump: 08'02" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.75 3-Cone Drill: 7.87 So lets look at the tape: Carimi is bigger, Carimi is stronger, Carimi can jump higher, Carimi can jump further, Carimi is faster and Carimi is more agile. This not including: 2010: 2010 OUTLAND TROPHY WINNER...2010 BIG TEN OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE YEAR (COACHES)...Consensus first-team All-Big Ten selection ... Academic All-Big Ten ... Wayne Souza Coaches Appreciation Award (Offense) ... He was a unanimous first team All-American As compared to Reiff: 2011: First team All-Big Ten by league coaches and media.. So if you wanted Reiff he would have played RT, there is really nothing to suggest hes better than Carimi, besides for the fact he has less accolades and is newer.
  11. Underwhelmed but whatever. If Carimi wasnt graded as a LT by Tice, Reif wouldnt have been either. If Bears were willing to move Carimi to LT, Reif would have made sense, but I think the Bears were pretty set on defense, just unfortunately there was a run right before their pick.
  12. http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Value-Chart.php Heres a chart 27 and 31 are worth 1280 pick 11 is 1250 That being said, I would also agree that 2 firsts in this years draft is worth a 10-15 pick.
  13. Well Id guess that means Pats take Barron which means Brockers likely not there for Bears pick.

    2012 TV Thread

In the tv show its less likely as he wont even get naked with Natalie Dormer.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) And people mention that you're a lawyer, because we expect lawyers to be intelligent...and this isn't it. he DOES have alternative choices to make on how to handle the confrontation after it begins, many of which do not lead to the use of a firearm. But I maintain that choosing to get beaten to death is not a choice. It's insanity. So after writing all of that you agree with me? You cant take 1 post out of context and then use it is an absolute. My statement was in response to: My response was to show that Zimmerman had choices not to fire and to show that, I used the most extreme example, Zimmerman could have chosen non-violence. You can call it insanity, but there are people who believe in non-violence. Regardless, the point I was making is that no one forced Zimmerman to fire. Which you seem to agree with. So I guess you can keep on preaching how it "isnt intelligent", but I am going to disagree. Im not going to keep attacking you for not reading the entire context of the post or for misunderstanding that I was using the most extreme example to show just how many choices Zimmerman had. And you dont need to think of me as intelligent, you can think Im the dumbest person in the world. Youd be wrong, but everyone is entitled to their opinion, just like you are entitled to the opinion it would be insane to make the choice to be beaten to death instead of killing someone else, but it is still a choice, you just have a different opinion.
  16. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 07:40 AM) This deserves the oft overused, but suddenly very applicable "Billy Madison", edited for Internet purposes, of course: "What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened read to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul." Seriously, as a lawyer, I'd expect a greater show of rational thought than this. That's simply NOT a choice, so let's not pretend it is, whether you preface it by saying, "May not be a smart or the best choice"...no, it's neither because such a choice is no longer part of the equation. In a situation that has already escalated into inescapable violence, there is no longer a choice for one party to choose non-violence. This is nonsensical in every regard. You are wrong. Zimmerman had a choice to use a gun or not. He could have tried to fight back with just his fists and lost, or been killed. He could have chose not to try and fight back at all. When you say "NOT A CHOICE" that is just patently false. What you are saying is "In my opinion that is not a valid choice", but it is a choice none the less. There are certain people in the world who are non-violent under any circumstances. They would just let Martin beat them and hope for the best. Now I am not advocating that, or saying you have to do that, but to discount it as a choice, is just wrong. And what is the deal with people saying "as a lawyer"? The bottom line is that not every person in the world would have done what Zimmerman did. Not everyone would have chose to shoot Martin even after Martin started to bash their head in. So that means that Zimmerman definitely had a choice. /shrugs
  17. For the Bears I really hope they go BPA, which is why at 19 its hard to predict. If I had to guess Id say: 1. Brockers. When Ive seen him play he seems explosive, got double teamed a lot but he could be a big time dT. 2. Zietler or Konz. I am seeing more drafts with one of these guys available at the Bears pick. Id love to have 2 Badgers on the O-Line and I know Tice is a fan. 3. Hopefully a DB falls here, otherwise open to WR although Id be more likely to go that route in 4th as I think there are a few receivers (McNutt, Jenkins, Toon) that all could potentially be solid. Who knows what the Bears will do.
  18. Never say those words Zen, a GM can always disappoint.
  19. Right you took 1 post completely out of context in a thread where I posted maybe 50 times? Everyone who was part of the debate understood that I was saying, if someone wants to break the law and kill Zimmerman, there is no way that we can feasibly stop it. You cant give Zimmerman secret service or Presidential protection, if someone really wants to kill Zimmerman, they are going to be able to. That does not mean you shouldnt prosecute the person who kills him, it does mean that we as a society can not protect everyone from every random threat, therefore if he feels unsafe in his community, he can move somewhere else where no one will know him. Maybe you should read my posts sometimes, seems you are agreeing with me. Disagree, Zimmerman always had the choice to get beaten to death. May not be a smart choice or the best choice, but non-violence is a choice. As for the facts, you should again read my posts, where I showed evidence that Zimmerman's head was being smashed into the ground. Again read my posts, I support this as well. And finally once again you should really read my posts. Sorry but its clear you just picked a single sentence in a post, took it completely out of context, and then decided to make a big argument about it. Go through the threads, I consistently state that everyone deserves a fair trial and not to believe what you read in the newspaper or what prosecutors say. Let alone supporting nonsensical vigilante justice.
  20. I never have endorsed lynch mob violence. I said that Zimmerman has to live with the ramifications, which include, him feeling responsible for the death of another. I would think that you, as a soldier, understand that even if you are absolutely justified in killing another human, that it can stick with you and it can change your life. Those are the consequences that I am referring to. Lynch mob violence is against the law and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent. Please find any time I support vigilante justice. Thanks.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) You responded to tex making a sarcastic post about porn honoring women. Right they are 2 different ideas. The fact that women can make millions of dollars on pornography in the United States is what I was commenting on, not the content of the videos actually honoring women. I guess the point I was making is that for a long time in society, women who were paid to take their clothes off were socially stigmatized etc. In the United States they can make a lot of money. Giving women the freedom to do whatever they want is honoring them (imo).
  22. Who cares about honoring women? (in the context of pornography) Pornography is about selling a product. If honoring women made the most money that would be what was sold. Pornography is just a product, the product changes to suit the audience. For the most of history pornography and sex trade was male dominated as women didnt have rights. But now that women are equal, you will start to see the market for their type of pornography go up and more male prostitutes as well. I wouldnt use pornography as a good way to teach any type of real life, its fantasy that sells.
  23. Thats not the point. In every industry there is exploitation of the worker. I see people get exploited all day long, in fact our entire society is built on the trying to exploit people (the natural end of capitalism). I assume you are trying to distinguish sex exploitation, but at the end of the day, in the US, thats just about money exploitation, with sex/looks being a talent. If you are seriously saying that porn exploitation in the United States is "a bit less troublesome" that how women are treated in the ME,I am shocked. Do you realize that in the ME women would be murdered for having sex on tv? That sadly isnt even hyperbole. In the US if a girl is raped by a porn director, they could call the police. Now they may not for whatever reasons, but the police wouldnt show up and just say "Oh shes a girl, she has no rights." Wow. Here is an article about Iranian women posing nude in response to sexual repression in Iran. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-21...Womens-Day.html
  24. You can argue there is exploitation with anything.
  25. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) They need US style pornography, that honors women like nothing else. I know this was sarcasm, but it is actually true. Porn stars have the choice, they make a lot of money and they arent attacked or murdered for having sex/being naked/etc.
