  1. Weber was put in a screwed position because of inheriting Self's team. I honestly believe that had Weber not had to try and be Self, and instead just put out Weber style products Illinois makes the tournament every year like Wisconsin. The problem though is that he needed to somehow recruit better than Dee Brown, Williams and Head and that just was a pretty impossible task. Thats what I meant by that comment.
  2. Illinois should make the tournament every year, and Im pretty sure that will happen consistently even if you hired a no name.
  3. I really dont care about this because its entirely subjective. I read your post and was shocked that Illinois was rated #5 in value and wanted to read the Forbes article to see how they came to that conclusion (didnt make sense based on how teams are normally valuated.) Then when I did a search "Forbes NCAA team values" the results were quite different. I still think that their methodology is off, but it did seem to make more sense (although I still have to believe MSU is more valuable than Wisconsin). The part about top 5 wasnt to imply you thought it, it was to show that I dont care if you think they are the #1 team, its your opinion and its not like you can go to a stat to prove otherwise. If it seemed like I meant you thought they were top 5, well that wasnt the intent. I never asked what you thought they were, so I really had no idea, thus why the 5 was relating to the article that I investigated and then some of the Illini websites that were saying Illinois was top 5 value.
  4. You know if you guys are going to get nit picky about nonsense, I was remarking about what was in his post: I never said he believed it, I said if YOU (meaning anyone wants to believe IL is a top 5) that is their opinion and nothing I can say or do will change that. Its not worth arguing about, because quite frankly the idea of rating a program is impossible and completely subjective.
  5. I think the point is that Illinois is at best top tier in the Big 10. Any coach that comes into Illinois is going to have a challenge because right now the Big 10 is one of the deepest leagues with some of the best coaches. If you want to believe Illinois is a top 5 program nationally, that really is your choice. But those type of expectations are why the next coach will fail in Illini fans eyes just like Weber.
  6. Um what? Forbes has Illinois as 13, behind Wisconsin, OSU and Indiana, somehow ahead of MSU. That being said Illinois has a very good history. The problem is that I dont believe anyone can say Illinois is in the top 5 in the last 10 years and that would be when the current class was 6 on. http://www.forbes.com/sites/chrissmith/201...valuable-teams/ 13. Illinois Fighting Illini Current Value: $15.8 million Two-Year Change in Value: -24% Basketball Profit: $9.8 million Conference: Big Ten Head Coach: Bruce Weber Illinois failed to qualify for a tournament berth this year, and the team hasn't had much luck in March since losing the NCAA Championship Game to North Carolina in 2005. That year's success will no longer count towards future conference payouts, which means that the Fighting Illini may slide in value again next year. (edit) Just to be clear I think that Forbes methodology is terrible and it really doesnt show the value of the team, more shows profitability in a given season.
  7. This is a really frustrating game. Some one needs to slap Rose because he keeps forgetting that Lin has no left and comes up to flat against Lin allowing him to drive right. Any time Rose has shaded Lin and come in on an angle preventing the drive to the right, Lin has given up the ball immediately.
  8. I personally think Thibs needs to get t'd up this game to even out the reffing.
  9. Bulls letting Lin go to the right far to often, defender should basically let him try and go left anytime.
  10. Well you have to give something to get something. Do I think Pierce/Garnett make the Bulls better today, yes. Would losing Deng hurt in the future, yes. Do I think its reasonable to believe that the Bulls can replace Deng, yes. Deng is solid, I just think he needs to be more to be worth the value of his contract.
  11. The underlying point of the deal would be to get out of Boozer/Deng's contract at the price of Pierce's. I think the Bulls FO have realized that they dont need to pay that type of money to Boozer/Deng to be competitive. Also Boozer's value should be very little, so if you can get anything for him, always good idea. Only Deng really is a concern, and SF is one of the deepest positions and you can get a guy at the fraction of the price.
  12. Unless the Celtics are getting some draft picks I can only imagine their interest is because they want Thib to win? And I believe a long time ago I said I wanted KG (back when the rumor was Ray Allen).
  13. In Chicago its generally Mexican. In Madison it was either Ian's Pizza or Jin's Chicken.

    2012 TV Thread

haha dont get people started on Jericho, a lot of people werent pleased that it got canceled. Ive got some theories on Walking Dead, but Im going to let them marinate.
  15. Wisconsin may lose, but Bo Ryan has only lost in the 1st round 1 time and it was in an 8-9 game to Arizona.
  16. And thats why if I was the Colts I would have traded the 1st and kept Manning.
  17. I dont think the Redskins have a shot at Manning plus if it wasnt for Russel Wilson this year, RGIII would be the holder of the highest single season QB rating in NCAA history. Hes got some talent.
  18. lol Painter is going to get thrown out. He keeps yelling at the refs: "You cant protect him every game" in reference to Sullinger. (edit) I originally thought Sullinger but Gus Johnson said Craft, Im starting to think it was Sullinger so Im changing my post.
  19. If I was Nebraska Id be calling Bruce Weber right now.
  20. I think the context is slightly different, but thats fine.
