  1. Lovie is the worst at challenging. Its a high risk and its only for a 1st down. At least they called a roll out, to bad Hanie cant throw at all right now.
  2. The Raiders punter is Shane Lechler which is who I was referring to.
  3. Lechler is a good punter (last week), and Hester has always had trouble determining what to do with punts around the 10 yard line (today).
  4. It looked more like a knee on helmet hit, which would just be extremely painful as opposed to structural damage. But who knows.
  5. Knox cost the Bears a first down when he tried to run laterally on 2nd down instead of just going forward and getting another 2-3 yards. They need to move Hanie around in the pocket, he just cant sit there.
  6. Still cant believe that game last night, one of the few Championship games that actually was exciting.
  7. Hard to believe the game ended on a roughing the kicker call. Was a pretty exciting game, Oregon should be another fun one.
  8. Bowl games are fun for the players and it doesnt really hurt anyone to have a lot of them.
  9. ESPN isnt even claiming a journalistic privilege. They just chose not to do anything with the tape. Reporters already have laws protecting them, ESPN isnt using any of them as an excuse. I dont think there needs to be a change of the law, but if you are going to be self-righteous about morals, you should maybe practice what you preach.
  10. Balta, What moral exception do reporters have? Reporters have no ethical obligation to keep a story secret (not that they were even asked).
  11. The question really for the Bears is if they want McNabb even as a back up. The Cowboys dont want McNabb to start, they just dont want to only have Kitna if Romo goes down.
  12. Amazing it was close at all with how bad Wisconsin played.
  13. Next years schedule isnt even created yet. The schools have no choice, its decided by ESPN basically.
  14. Doesnt even seem like UNC is trying to fight Wisconsin's pace. Wisconsin way to in love with the 3, but it seems they are fine living and dying by it.
  15. This is about money not some trophy, those teams are going to be involved the first year.
  16. Id imagine that after ACC expands Big 10 wont be winning many.
  17. May or may not be useful, Im no expert. I simply answered what their argument is going to be against the recording.
  18. Dont really know a lot about the other Big10 teams but my first reaction is that it seems to be favorable for the big10 this year. Prior to this weekend I had written Wisconsin v UNC as a definite loss for Wisconsin (barring a miracle), but after UNC lost to UNLV Im slightly more optimistic. It sounds like UNC gave up a bunch of 3s and Wisconsin has been pretty good from beyond the arc. I still think @ UNC is to much to overcome, but I definitely think there is a chance Wisconsin could upset the Tarheells, especially if Brust/Gasser can get hot from beyond the arc.
  19. My guess is they are going to argue that its taken out of context. (Ie Parts of the conversation were erased and therefore it gives a different impression.)
  20. The cover up was years ago. And there is still no evidence Paterno was involved in a "cover up". Remember, all he did was fail to call the police, he did notify the powers that be at PSU. In a true "cover up", Paterno would have told McQueary to go home and that he saw nothing, and that if McQueary ever said another word he was fired and Paterno would make sure he never was hired again. That is a cover up. Paterno's actions fall more into the "didnt do as much as he could have possibly done" category, which is quite different. Well see what happens, but I doubt that Syracuse fires Boeheim in the next week. Here is a link to the statement by Boeheim, Ill just take out one sentence: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/early-...ESG5N_blog.html I am personally very shocked because I have never witnessed any of the activities that have been alleged. Notice the phrasing, I have never "witnessed" (same as Paterno), so the question is, did Boeheim know anything? Should be interesting to see how it plays out.
  21. Balta, Once again, the grand jury "report" was based on testimony, but the report itself was hearsay. As I said in the Paterno thread, the lesson is to never admit to anything. No matter how sincere a statement "I should have done more" it will always be turned against you, because at the end of the day, those out to destroy you will turn it into an admission of guilt (any human who hears that someone has been raped or molested will have wanted to do more, regardless of how feasible it is). The best thing to do is what Boeheim will inevitably do, never admit to anything.
  22. The problem for Illinois is that its going to be hard for them to lure an impact coach without breaking the bank. Paul Chryst (Wisconsin's coordinator) isnt going to Illinois, he turned down the Dallas Cowboys OC job and most people believe he isnt going to leave Madison until his kids are out of HS (Chryst is from Madison and went to school there), I personally think that Illinois should try and get a well respected coordinator/HC who is going to run a pro-style offense. No reason Illinois cant be as successful as a team like MSU.
  23. Balta, There is a slight difference between firing the actual perpetrator and firing someone who heard about a crime and didnt call the police. Its just not comparable, Fine is Sandusky in this situation, not Paterno. Rock brings up the more interesting question, what happens to Boehim and will he get the Paterno treatment. (My guess is no.)
  24. Well its a disaster half and the Bears are only down a score.
